1 Chinn Park Library Presents Adult & Family Programs June 2014 Adult Programs Project Natale Jazz Concert Saturday, June 21 st 2:00 PM The premiere Jazz quartet Project Natale is back by popular demand! They will be performing a wide variety of traditional and modern Jazz pieces for your enjoyment. This is a free drop-in program family program. Breastfeeding Basics Tuesday, June 17th 6:30 PM If you are considering breastfeeding your newborn, or feel like you need a refresher, certified Childbirth Educator and La Leche League Leader Anna Rademaker will teach you about pregnancy and birth hormones, proper latch-on and positioning techniques, breast-pumping basics, introducing solids, and more. This is a free drop-in program for adults.

2 One-on-One ereader Help Monday, June 16 th 3:00 to 4:00 PM Having trouble downloading books from PWPLS OverDrive to your ereader? The Chinn Park Regional Library will be offering individual help with downloading e-books and audiobooks from PWPLS OverDrive to your e-reader device during our monthly One-on- One ereader Help program. Chinn Park Chats: A Monday Afternoon Book Discussion Club Monday, June 9 th 1:00 p.m. Me Before You by Jojo Moyes Louisa Clark is an ordinary working girl living an ordinary life when she takes a badly needed job working as an assistant to wealthy extreme sports enthusiast Will Traynor who is wheelchair bound after a motorcycle accident. Will is not an easy person to care for, but as time passes, Will and Lou warm to each other and their feelings grow deeper. Will wants to show Lou how exciting life can be, and Lou just wants Will to realize that life is worth living. Will the determined Louisa be able to rescue Will from himself? 3 Brit Lit Book Club Monday, June 30 th 1:00 PM The Cold Light of Mourning by Elizabeth Duncan The picturesque North Wales market town of Llanelen is shocked when Meg Wynne Thompson, a self-made beauty who has turned out to be something of an unpopular bride, goes missing on her wedding day.and turns up dead. The last person believed to have seen her is manicurist Penny Brannigan, an expatriate Canadian who has lived in North Wales for almost 25 years. It seems that several people, including the bride s drunken, abusive father, had reasons to wish Meg dead, but when the trail leads her to the groom s home, an explosive secret will shake the small town. NOVA Novels Book Club Tuesday, June 24 th 7:30 PM The Chaperone by Laura Moriaty Just a few years before becoming a famous silent-film star and an icon of her generation, 15 year old Louise Brooks leaves Wichita, Kansas, to study at the prestigious Denishawn School of Dancing in New York City. Much to her annoyance, Louise is accompanied by 36 year old Cora Carlisle, a hired chaperone who has her own reasons for making the trip. Cora soon finds out that being Louise s chaperone is no easy task, and Louise discovers that Cora is more resourceful than she had imagined. The five weeks the two spend together will transform their lives forever. Meet a Patagonian cavy and see an Asian Sugar Glider. Find out about animal behaviors, habitats, and diets in a hands-on learning experience with creatures from around the world. Virginia Search and Rescue Dog Association Monday, June 30 th 7 p.m. Watch a specially trained Virginia Search and Rescue dog and his dedicated handler demonstrate their skills. Family Craft Night Thursday, June 26 7 p.m. Bring your Mom or Dad and make a fantastic craft! This month s topic is Pool Time Picture Frame. Limit: One craft per child for the first 60 children. Plus for every 3 books read up to 9, you get a ticket in the drawing. Lucky readers will take home gift certificates to local businesses, and other exciting prizes.
