2 Welcome to the April Edition of Frankology! This magazine is a product of our No Place for Hate Student Coalition. Each month we will look at upcoming events or those that have already taken place at Frank. This magazine came from an idea proposed by Brooke Sullivan and Nicole Galloway. Our other staff include: Chance Braswell, Taylin Adolph, John Bolding (not pictured), Tori Moore, and Justin Whorton. This magazine is possible because of the generous support of our sponsor.

3 Poetry from a Former Frank Student Adara Patel Violence Is Violence is a disease, it spreads rapidly and the cure is hard to find. Violence is a tear, trickling slowly down the face of someone kind. Violence is a word, it s sound can cause despair. Violence is a hurricane, it s damage takes long to repair. Violence comes as sirens, that blare during a chase. Violence comes with your heart, thumping at a fast pace. Violence comes as memories, don t let them hold you back. Violence comes as angered people, watch out...they might attack! Violence comes as news, some are very brutal tales. Violence comes as noises, shrieks, screams, cries, and wails. Violence needs to be stopped, that s what I have to say. If violence doesn t stop, it could get worse. This is the day!

Mr. Trammell designed our field day shirts. There will be 16 games including 3 water games!!! The schedule will have K-2 nd going in the morning with 3 rd and 5 th in the afternoon. I heard that either Yogi Bear, Boo Boo or Smokey the Bear might visit! Here s a riddle if kinder brings marshmellows, 1 st grade brings grahm crackers and 3 rd and 4 th bring Hershey s chocolate what do you get? On Friday, April 1, 2011 Josh Arcemont Master Instructor at Hero Martial Arts came to Frank to inspire our fifth graders to push themselves to achieve. Our fifth graders went on to work very hard on TAKS!! Great news! Mr. Arcemont returns on April 21, 2011 to inspire our third and fourth graders.

6 WII Can Pass TAKS by Nicole Galloway On April 1, 2011 Pre-K thru Fifth grade went to a pep rally. It was for the TAKS. Our principal, Ms. Messina came and talked to us and while she talked to us a go-cart came out of no where and Mario was in it. Everybody was cheering for him. Then a group of fifth graders came out with weird sunglasses and had inflatable guitars. Even Mr. Henze was in it. They held up signs saying WII will rock TAKS! Then Ms. Messina made another speech. All of the other grades (K-2) gave posters to the grades taking the TAKS test. We had so much fun!!!! By Brooke Sullivan

Frank s chimes group performed at the Houston Children s festival on April 9 th. They played Promenade, The Four Seasons by Vivaldi, and celebration for a festival.

7 Frank s chimes group performed at the Houston Children s festival on April 9 th. They played Promenade, The Four Seasons by Vivaldi, and celebration for a festival. Frank s choir performed on April 16 th. They Sang Alleluia by Mozart in Latin, Sheep May Safely Graze in German and Get on Board. The judges had nothing but great comments for both groups. Congratulations!!!! The tryouts for the Fifth grade Talent Show will be on May 5 th. The show will take place on June 2, In order to try out you must be in the fifth grade, have passing grades and no U s on the report card. Wondering what you could do in the talent show? You could sing a song (that is school appropriate), but you must be able to sing it with no words and have your own Karaoke CD track. You could also play an instrument, dance, or act. You may be in a group or go solo. You can be in 2 acts and your group can have as many people as you like as long as they fit on the stage.

8 Frank has SHOUT OUTS! The students, teachers and staff have been listening every afternoon to hear who at Frank was caught doing something good. Have you had your shout out yet? The fifth graders in Mr. Henze s class made some care packages and cards and letters to the men and women in the military.
