4 PICTURE US ALL NHC Photo Festival NHC Photography course; sponsored by the Launceston City Council. In August as a part of our 30 th Birthday Celebrations, New Horizons Club will be holding a series of fantastic photography workshops. When? Thursdays in August (4 th, 11 th, 18 th, 25 th ) here at the Club. We are thrilled to invite all of our members to participate in this wonderful opportunity at no cost. You will learn tips and tricks on how to improve your day-to-day photography (on smart phones as well as on regular and more advanced cameras). You will also learn how to take a fantastic portrait. This will come in handy because New Horizons will shortly be launching a photo portrait competition called Picture Us All. Photographic portrait prize: $700, $350 and $200 cash prizes to be won!!! PLEASE SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS: Local amateur and professional photographers (including NWC members) are invited to enter our photographic portrait prize. Every entrant will be paired with a keen New Horizons member, whom they will spend some time with and photograph for their prize entry. New Horizons members who don t wish to enter would you like YOUR OWN portrait taken? Picture Us All prize aim: These portraits will be about celebrating our dynamic members and people in general; our similarities, quirks and differences. Photographers will look past the physical, focussing on the spark that lights the person. The Picture Us All portraits will positively challenge how we, as individuals and society view disability. Exhibition: All finalists work will be displayed at the Sawtooth Gallery on September 26 th for two days, then move on to a month-long exhibition at the Launceston Library. SO- WHAT DO YOU NEED TO DO? or call the office to book your place at the workshops AND let us know if you d like to be photographed by a local photographer (the photograph will then be displayed at the Picture Us All exhibition).
