2 Congratulations on your selection to the 2016 NCAA Women s Soccer Championship. On behalf of the University of Southern California, USC welcomes your team, coaches, administrators and fans to University of Southern California for the first round of the NCAA Tournament. This manual includes championship information on meetings, hotels, transportation, and other pertinent tournament related items. This will help guide you during the process of preparing for your trip to southern California and during your stay with us. There have been rooms reserved for your team at The LA Hotel Downtown. The contact information for the hotel is listed under the Hotel information on page 6 of this manual. Again congratulations on your teams accomplishments and we look forward to your visit! 2

5 Schedule of Events Practice- Team practices will be a maximum of seventy-five (75) minutes. Team practices for the first round will be held on the game field on Friday, November 11 th. Pre-Tournament Administrative Meeting- The pre-tournament administrative meeting will be held on Friday, November 11 th at 5pm on the campus of USC at the McAlister boardroom near Heritage Hall. Parking will be available in PSA. See the map of the University of Southern California on the facility and map section (page 13) for exact location. 7 Directions & Parking DIRECTIONS- Los Angeles International Airport to LA Hotel Downtown Merge onto CA-1 S Sepulveda Blvd. toward I-105. Merge onto I-105 E/Glenn Anderson Fwy E toward Norwalk. Take I-105 to the 110 N/Harbor Fwy via exit 7B towards Los Angeles. Take the 4 th St./3 rd st. exit off of the 110 N/Harbor Fwy N. Keep left on the ramp and and take the 3 rd st. exit (exit 23C). Keep left to take the 3 rd St. W ramp. Turn left onto S Beaudry Ave. Then take the 2 nd left onto W 4 th St. and the forst left onto S Figueroa St. LA Hotel Downtown to McAlister Field Start out northwest on S. Figueroa St. towards W 3 rd St. Turn left on W 3 rd St. Take the ramp towards CA-110 S/Harbor Freeway S/CA-110 N/Harbor Freeway N. Take the ramp on the left toward Harbor Freeway S. Take the I-10 W exit (exit 21) towards Santa Monica. Keep left then right; turn right onto W 20 th St. Take the 2 nd right onto Hoover St. Arrive at 3077 S Hoover St. on the right. PARKING INFORMATION Team Parking: If your team will be arriving in a bus, team parking will be along 30 th Street. Enter off of S. Hoover to have the bus parallel to McAlister Field. If your team will be arriving in vans you will be parking at the Hebrew Union College, adjacent to McAlister Field. The entrance to which is off of S. Hoover St. *Please contact Sara Studer at when you depart your hotel on practice and game days so that we may prepare for your arrival. Fan Parking : Fan parking will be available along the streets adjacent to McAlister Field and in the Hebrew Union Parking lot. If fans wish to park on campus they may enter off of McClintock and parking rates are $12/day. 7

8 Important Information BALLS Each team must provide its own practice balls. However, the game balls will be provided from Wilson by the NCAA and will be available to practice with on November 11 th. BANDS, SPIRIT SQUADS AND MASCOTS A maximum of 25 band members, including the director, 12 uniformed spirit squad members, and one costumed mascot will be admitted free of charge. Each institution's administrator must submit a typed list to the tournament director and committee liaisons at the administrative meeting prior to the competition. Copies of the Band Gate List and Spirit Squad Gate List are available in the appendix. If your team ins planning on bringing a band, spirit squad and/or mascot, please contact Sara Studer at or sarastud@usc.edu. Select artificial noisemakers are allowed during play (cowbells, drums, thunder sticks, etc.). However, Whistles, air horns, and electronic amplification are still prohibited.a ny artificial noise makers that event management deems as interfering with spectators ability to enjoy or watch the game will be removed. Bands There will be designated seating for each team s band. Bands shall be seated in rows so as not to interfere with spectators, photographers or teams, subject to the approval of the committee liaisons. Bands may not use electronic amplification equipment. Bands, or any component thereof, are allowed to play during timeouts, after goals (must cease at kick-off), halftime, between games, and before and after the competition, up to the beginning of the next game s warm-up time or up to the start of the awards ceremony. In the event there is more than one band, time will be divided equally between the two and coordinated accordingly on site, with the visiting team playing first. Spirit Squads and Mascots A maximum of 12 uniformed spirit squad members and one (1) costumed mascot are allowed on the game field. Spirit squad and mascots must stay on their team s half of the field and are not permitted to roam spectator seating areas. They shall otherwise remain in an area designated by the tournament director with the approval of the committee liaison. Spirit squads may lead the team into the field. Flags carried by institutions representatives are 8

9 permitted on the field during timeouts but must not be used to taunt competitors or block spectators views. CREDENTIALS Team Credentials The host will provide and distribute credentials for the members of each official traveling party [22 participant, 8 personnel, 1 doctor and 1 administrator to reach the bench limit of 32]. These will be provided to each participating team's administrator or coach at the administrative meeting. 10 extra credentials will be provided to each team (not good for admission) but will allow access to the team, pre and post match. Media Credentials All requests for media credentials are to be submitted to Rachel Caton via rcaton@usc.edu Those issued credentials must wear them at all times. Misuse will result in revocation of your credentials and removal from the stadium. Credentials are non-transferrable. DRUG TESTING The NCAA selects, on a random basis, various championships throughout the year for drug testing. Drug testing may occur during any round of competition. HOSPITALITY Hospitality will be available for student athletes, coaches, administrators and staff outside of the field and in the teams respective locker rooms. Please let us know if any members of your team have any food allergies or restrictions. LOCKER ROOMS The visiting locker rooms are located on campus at USC s Dedeaux Field. Please let us know if you would like access to the locker rooms pre and/or post-game so that we may have it staffed accordingly. Contact Sara Studer at or sarastud@usc.edu. MUSIC (PRE-GAME) The host institution will supply appropriate pre-game warm-up music for all games. OFFICIALS All officials for all tournament games will be selected and assigned by the NCAA national coordinator of officials in coordination with the Women s Soccer Committee. Participating teams will be advised of the officials assigned to their competitions at the administrative meeting. 9

10 SPORTS MEDICINE & TRAINING FACILITIES An athletic trainer will be present for all practices and games. A physician will be on-call at each game and readily available for all practices. Complete medical and training services will be provided; however, if special services are needed please make arrangements prior to your arrival by calling Catherine Hill at or c.hill@usc.edu. The main athletic training area is located on the basement level of the John McKay Center (JMC) on USC s main campus. TEAM BENCHES The higher-seeded team will use the bench located on the east side of the field (when looking at the benches from the field- to the left). The lower-seeded team will use the bench located on the west side of the facility (when looking at the benches from the field-to the right). TICKETS All ticket booths will open one hour prior to the start of competition. Ticket Prices: Ticket Prices are: $10.00 Adults $5.00 Seniors/Students (with ID s) Children 2 and under are free with a paid adult ticket The NCAA does not provide complimentary tickets for championships. All participating institutions will be billed back for tickets treated as player/guest tickets. Player/guest lists for the participating teams must be turned into the tournament director no later than Thursday, November 10 th at 3PM (PST). UNIFORMS In consultation with the site representative the home team (higher seed) will have choice of uniform color with visiting team choosing a contrasting color. VIDEO RECORDING The host institution is responsible for videotaping all games and providing copies to the participating teams immediately after the game. Teams may use one camera and videotape only their own games; videotaping for scouting purposes by any representative of athletics interests (e.g., parents, boosters, etc.) is not allowed. The video platform will be located on the south side of McAlister Field. 10
