We hope you all have had a productive, exciting, and wonderful week here at Great Falls High School. This week s issue of The Devils Daily is full of wonderful articles that summarize the week very nicely. Read up on our Students of Reminders the Week, ponder about the clowns siting in Chester county, gear up for our home football game tonight, and buy your Yearbook! Also, we would like you to help us welcome a new member to our staff, Mr. Corey Roof! This week s deadline features Corey s first assignment. Special points of interest: Get your yearbook and get it now! The yearbook staff is hosting an "early bird special" now to September 30th. If you purchase a yearbook during the early bird special, $5 is taken off of the original price, you get a free nameplate on the front of the yearbook, and you will be entered in a drawing to win a free yearbook, meaning you might get your money back at the end of the year. Mrs. Shannon Mills, the yearbook supervisor and digital multimedia teacher, said, "It is important to buy a yearbook because it s a place you can have your high school memories from that school year, as opposed to the temporary social media." Mrs. Mills and her yearbook staff have put hard work into the yearbook and it's only the beginning of the school year. Just imagine how great the yearbook will look this at the end of the school year! Staying after school for tutoring can bring a lot of improvement to a bad grade or help you get the help you need to succeed. Every teacher can set their own days for tutoring, but the set date is every Wednesday till 3:45. You can also schedule a day and time to stay after school with most teachers. Ms. Erica Raheja, high school math teacher, said, "Some benefits that students get from being tutored can be learning new ways to do something or getting extra time that they wouldn t get in class." When getting ready for tutoring, Mr. Justin Tisdale, high school science teacher, says, "Know what you need help in, and have specific questions ready." Tutoring is a great way to stay on track during the school year and connect with your teachers

3 DEVILS DAILY 3 Sports Volume 2, Issue THE Red Devils are ready for Friday! Written by: Hunter Litzenberg Great Falls high school September 9,2016z Almost every high school has a football team, but not one like ours. Our boys work hard every day from fourth block till about six o clock, except Thursdays, to achieve their best on the field. Fridays are their day to shine and do their work. Every boy on the team is there not because he has to be, but because it s part of his hopes and dreams. Football is also a big help when it comes to colleges. This Friday is the game against Ware Shoal high school s football team. Coach John Barret, head football coach at Great Falls, says I hope the team is ready for Friday's game. He continued, We want to win, and if they don t want to win they have the wrong coach." Barrett says all the boys work hard, but Cody Spires and Shan Roberts work extremely hard. Barrett also said that their biggest goal this season is to compete and win. Some players are really ready for the game Friday. Spires, mentioned by Barrett, said, " Yes I am ready. I have been practicing and preparing all week." Spires is a great team player and promotes doing your best at these games. Come support the boys this Friday! In order to get ready for In the second quarter of the game the score was only a seven-point difference, but as the last second of the fourth quarter winded down the score was neck-in-neck and the Broncos won by one point.

4 4 RED HOT Profile of the Week By: Cierra McIlwain Vol ume 2, i ss ue 3 September 9, There's a new SRO on the block! Sgt. Crank, an officer of the Chester County Police Department, has just started his Great Falls Complex career this year. Sgt. Crank was born in Chester and has lived there all his life. In an interview, Crank said that what drove him to be a Profile of the Week: Sergeant Crank police officer was the influence of a family member who recommended it to him. His favorite thing about his job is the freedom that comes with it. "You just never get bored around here," said Crank. Crank also said he likes Great Falls because he "enjoys the school, everyone is friendly, and it's small, so you can get to know everyone easily." Nice to meet you Sgt. The Devils Daily went around Great Falls Complex asking teachers and faculty members their interpretation of the word respect. Our beloved principal Mr. Spencer said respect is taking other s feelings into account. We got several similar answers, such as Mr. Tisdale who said treating others the way you want to be treated. Whether its coming from faculty or staff, everyone knows this: respect is about how you treat others and doing unto others as you would want to be done to you! 5 students the of Week 5 Red-Hot Students of the Week Story By: Kayla Coleman-Great Falls High School-September 9th Volume 2, Issue 3 Every week, new students earn the title of "Red Hot" student of the week. These individual students earn this title by showing they have the qualities and characteristics of being Red-Hot. They've each caught the eye of their teachers by being respectful, engaged, dedicated, honorable, organized, or thoughtful. This week's "Red Hot" students of the week are Elijah McManus and Nevaeh Bradley. Ms. Fulks nominated Elijah McManus for student of the week. She said, "He is a respectful young man and always willing to help others in class. He participates in class daily and always ready to learn. He is a pleasure to have in class." Mr. Worthy also nominated Neveah Bradley for this week's "Red Hot" student of the week. Mr. Worthy stated, "Nevaeh always displays a good attitude, good behavior, a willingness to learn and she exhibits RED HOT qualities." Photo By: Kayla Coleman Elijah stated about himself, "I like to read, write, watch T.V, and socializing with my family. My favorite subject is Biology because you learn about the human body. I think that I was chosen for student of the week for a good attitude and being respectful to teachers. It makes me really excited and energetic." Nevaeh says, "I like to skate and play basketball. 6 T H E D E V I L S D A I L Y Entertainment Volume 2. Issue 3 Clowns spotted in South Carolina Story by: Corey Roof, Staff Writer John Wayne Gacy. Counties in South Carolina with reports of clowns: Chester Union Greenville Over this past week there have been multiple reports of clowns being seen around South Carolina. Two cases in which children were targets, being lured with money. The children claim that, down the trail next to their apartment complex, there is a house next to a pond where the clowns live. Police have investigated the house a few times and came up with no leads or anything that might be related to clown attire, face-paint, etc. Another case in North Carolina was reported on Wednesday in Winston-Salem. This case being of the same nature as the one in South Carolina, included a clown trying to lure a child into the woods with money. The sightings are pretty terrifying, especially if you have coulrophobia (an irrational fear of clowns.) Remembering the serial murderer from the 50's, John Wayne Gacy, who is also known as Killer Clown. It's terrifying because Mr. Gacy murdered at least 33 young boys between 1972 and Are the clowns just a gag? By: Corey Roof, Staff Writer Gags taking a quick stroll. According to The New York Times, in 2014 an individual dressed as a clown was spotted in Green Bay, Wisconsin. The figure was first seen skulking around the city gripping four black balloons. After multiple sightings of the clown, the community nicknamed him Gags, and it almost became a challenge to spot Gags in the city. Some individuals presented guns at Gags only to find out that his attire was only being used as a marketing agent for a new film being released. Some believe that the sightings in South Carolina have ties with Stephen King s remastered edition of It set to release in 2017.
