PRESIDENT S Welcome I appreciate the opportunity to sincerely welcome all of our Darling Downs rugby clubs members, families and friends, to our 2016, Toowoomba Bears junior rugby carnival.

Representatives of the college will be available should you have any enquiries about the school and its facilities. Bears will be everywhere to assist you with all other enquiries about the day.

We also provide the opportunity to watch and support other clubs matches, in the spirit of the Darling Downs Rugby Union and enjoy the atmosphere.

Coaches, Managers and players are the only people allowed inside the field ropes.

I thank all of our sponsors and our dedicated volunteers, from within The Bears and those from our visiting clubs who all pitch in to make our Darling Downs Rugby carnivals always a success, and

3 PRESIDENT S Welcome I appreciate the opportunity to sincerely welcome all of our Darling Downs rugby clubs members, families and friends, to our 2016, Toowoomba Bears junior rugby carnival. We thank Downlands College for the use of their wonderful facilities. Access is best via Kate Street and when parking we ask you respect our local residents. Representatives of the college will be available should you have any enquiries about the school and its facilities. Bears will be everywhere to assist you with all other enquiries about the day. Games have been scheduled (15 minute games from U6 s - U9 s and 25 minutes from U10 s-u12 s) to provide optimum game time and rest time for all teams. We also provide the opportunity to watch and support other clubs matches, in the spirit of the Darling Downs Rugby Union and enjoy the atmosphere. Full catering facilities are available with the canteen, BBQ for breakfast and lunch, a hot chip van and fresh coffee van at your convenience. Normal playing rules apply. We ask you respect referees are volunteers (some may still be learning) so please support in the true spirit of the game. Darling Downs Rugby where legends are born. Some may be aware that rugby in Queensland was really born on the Darling Downs, with the formation of the Rangers and Aubigny Bears (now Toowoomba Bears) rugby clubs back in Legend has it, that some organisation had occurred a few years prior but it wasn t until two teams threw a basalt rock covered in pig skin around in a sheep paddock, at the top of the range, that our game really took hold. Such finer details can neither, be confirmed or denied, but one thing is for sure, they still breed them tough on the Darling Downs, with good humour, sportsmanship and a love of the game at the very core of every player who picks up the pigskin today. The courage that is shown on the face of every 5 year old that pulls off his tracky dacks to run onto a frost covered rugby field and the mateship as a file of boys run on behind each other to face off an opposition twice their size, is what makes our hearts burst with pride on Saturday, the best day of the week. 5 MATCH Schedule Please note that all teams on the left (and highlighted) are responsible for supplying a referee for the game. We respect that our all referees are volunteers (and appreciate that some may still be learning) and support in the true spirit of the game. Coaches, Managers and players are the only people allowed inside the field ropes. It is very important to adhere strictly to the match schedule. Once the siren sounds, play needs to finish immediately. All matches need to start and finish on time for the day to run smoothly. Teams will play on the same field for the whole day - please see the map to the left. Have a fantastic day!
