Our Senior footballers had an outstanding 3-18 to 3-16 victory after extra-time away to St. Brigid's last Sunday in the Semi-final of the Senior Football League. This qualifies Na Fianna for League Final in Russel Park, (note change of venue from Parnell Park) tonight against St Maurs at 7.30pm. Maurs have already won the Senior 'B' Football Championship and so are going for a double which would be a huge achievement for them and they will bring a large crowd with them to Russell Park tonight. Let's make sure that we can outnumber and outshout our county Dublin friends! We had great support against St Brigids last Sunday, which played its part in our victory and the players were hugely aware and appreciative of. Have the dinner early and make your way to Russell Park. Weekend Action Our Senior footballers play St Maurs in Russel Park at 7.30pm tonight in the AFL Div1 Final. Sunday at 11am starts with our Inter footballers in AFL3 final in Mobhi Road against Scoil Uí Chonaill. Our Senior hurlers are in A Championship playoff against Plunketts in Blanchardstown IT. Minor B camogie team in championship away to Whitehall. Minor C hurlers in Championship semis away against Round Towers Clondalkin. All the above throw in at 11am. Later at 12 noon our Minor A hurlers are in league final against Kilmacud Crokes in O Toole Park. Full fixture list on website and the very best of luck to all teams, all support welcome. 1

Senior Hurlers Looking For Your Support Senior hurlers take on Oliver Plunketts on Sunday morning at 11am in Blanchardstown IT with Senior A Championship status for 2015 on the line. Following a narrow defeat to Ballinteer St John's in September, the team is faced with relegation to Senior B status for 2015 if victory is not secured on Sunday. While results have not gone the team's way this year, significant progress has been made with this young group of players. Last weeks performance against county finalists, St. Jude's, culminating in an unfortunate one point defeat in the last game of the league was testament to this fact. Medium term injuries to Billy Shanahan and Lorcan Mulhern have ruled them out of action while Ciaran O Fainin and Danny Flaherty have recovered from long term injuries to come in to contention for selection. Competing at Senior A Championship level in 2015 is imperative for the ongoing development of these players and the team. Harnessed appropriately, with the influx of talent progressing through the ranks, competing at the business end of the Senior A Championship is a realistic target in the not too distant future for this group. Relegation to Senior B Championship for 2015 would certainly slow this process. Your support in what is a hugely important game for this team and the club on Sunday is very much appreciated. Club Lotto This week s Na Fianna Club Lotto winning numbers were; No jackpot winner and no Match 3 winner this week. Congrats to our five Lucky pick winners who won 15 each, Vincent Wall, Kevin J Nichol, Helen Purcell c/o Vinny, Jack Power c/o Vinny, John Byrne c/o Vinny. See Club website for application forms and direct debit mandates. Next week s Club Lotto Jackpot will be 3,000, please support. 2

Shake your Tail Feather for Na Fianna! News of the club Panto is spreading far and wide. The production of jack & the Beanstalk has now been picked up by the Mooney Show on RTE 1 as one of just 6 Christmas shows nationwide to be promoted on the show! Meanwhile back on the ranch we have reports that there has been strange musical sounds emanating from Scoil Chaitriona late at night. We have it on good authority that the Panto Crew have been practicing their dance moves to the tunes of the Blues Brothers with tail feathers being shook left, right and centre and boy what a sight it is! They ve posted a video on line on the club face book page of their early efforts. Not surprisingly they re now looking for your help and direction! The challenge is out there to everyone to check out the dance on line by looking at any of the Blues Brothers Shake your tail feather videos ( Check out the stroll one) then get you or your team to do a short version on your smart phone. Do the twist, do the fly, do the swim and just show them how it can be done properly cause they ll be looking for everyone to do it at the Panto. Get the video posted to the facebook page or ed to panto@clgnafianna.ie The best will be put together in the next promo video and there may be a ticket or two for the best ones! The latest update on the cabin uptake is 21 are now committed with only 9 remaining. All the large cabins are now gone. We are still looking for a cheesemonger and a butcher and or a fish monger. 5 Over the next number of weeks we will be hoping to profile a number of our Vendors and this week we start with none other than our own Seffi Breatnach who interrupted his sleep this morning to answer a number of questions. Well done Seffi and thanks for being such a good sport at 7.55 am this morning. Vendor Profile Seosamh Breathnach Hurley Repairs Seosamh s nature of business is the manufacture of hurleys and sale of hurling equipment, grips, sliotars, helmets etc. At the market he will have a range of Christmas gift ideas available such as keyring minders, mini decorative hurleys and hurley combo packs This is Seosamh s second time in the market. He had a small pitch last year and with the sales made he knew it was too good an opportunity to miss again this year. He tells the Nuacht he got in early this year as he knew the cabins would be snapped up quickly. Seosamh s place of business is opposite the outdoor handball alley and he is open there Friday Saturday and Sunday. He has been in operation for the past four years. Check out his workshop where some of the greats including our own Na Fianna and Dublin hurlers the great Joey Boland and Martin Quilty have their hurls repaired. Even Galway legendary hurler Joe Canning has been known to drop in and discuss hurley repairs. Check out Seosamh s stall last year below 5

Reflections on Senior Ladies Championship After a second successive County final defeat in 2013, the senior ladies re-assembled at the start of the year absolutely determined to atone for narrow defeats to Foxrock in 2012 and Fingallians/Skerries in A new management team was put in place. Ray Dorney, who had been assistant to Adrian Kelly in 2013, was appointed team manager and brought in Lyn Savage, Bernie Finlay and Niall Williams as coaches/selectors. After many years of dedicated service to the team, John Quinn stepped back due to work commitments. Adrian also decided not to be involved this year. The loss of Sarah Quinn and Laura Walsh to emigration and rugby respectively was a blow but was offset with the arrival of some new faces, notably a strong contingent of second-year minors which boosted morale at training. A few cobwebs were blown away in Spring with a Boxercise program and the team hit the ground running in League and Cup competition getting into a winning habit from the start. The real test would be the championship in May and the team responded in fine style with comprehensive wins against Thomas Davis and Clanna Gael Fontenoy in the opening two round-robin matches. The third game was a sterner test in Malahide against St Sylvester's but again the team won with a bit to spare to ensure a home draw in the championship semifinal. The semi-final was played on the 2nd July in Mobhi Road against an improving St Brigid's team. As was the case in 2013, Na Fianna were put to the pin of their collar but eventually emerged with a narrow but deserved two-point winning margin. Back in the final again and waiting for us there was our 2012 nemesis, Foxrock Cabinteely. Disappointingly the final was moved out of Parnell Park for the first time in years but to be honest the team would have played the match in a car park so keen were they to put the record straight. Eventually the match was fixed for Lawless Park, Swords on a Friday evening, July 25th. It was a pulsating match between two equally matched teams and finally salvation was at hand with Na Fianna eking out a tremendous victory on a scoreline of 1-11 to 1-9. Celebrations continued long into the night after joint captains Ciara McDermott and Denise Cassidy brought the Murphy Cup back to Mobhi Road. After a two-week break, it was almost like starting pre-season again when the squad reassembled in August for the remaining League and Cup matches. This time the real focus would be on the Leinster championship and the team had two fantastic outings in Mobhi 6

Road in the provincial quarter-final and semi-final. The quarter-final was played on October 4th and saw Na Fianna run out as convincing winners against Wexford champions Shelmalier. The semi-final was played on Sunday October 19th and the team put in what many regard as the finest ever performance by a senior ladies Na Fianna team in defeating Meath champions Seneschalstown on a 2-15 to 0-7 scoreline. Hopes were high on November 2nd when the team and supporters headed for Clane, County Kildare for the Leinster final clash against Sarsfields, the champions of Laois. The match was played in windy conditions and despite missing some good scoring opportunities in the first half, things looked reasonably promising at half-time when the team trailed 0-3 to 1-3 having played against a stiff breeze in the first half. However things never really clicked in the second half and some determined defence from Sarsfields allied to a lower-key performance from the team meant that the day was not to be our's as Sarsfields ran out narrow victors on a 1-5 to 1-7 scoreline. The disappointment of the Leinster final should not detract however from what was an outstanding year for the Na Fianna senior ladies team and its management. The main target at the beginning of the year was to reclaim the Dublin senior championship and this objective was achieved in stunning style. Opinions are divided as to whether the long gap after winning Dublin before the Leinster campaign began was either a hindrance or a help but it did mean an enormous effort from the players and management in going through two 'preseasons' with a lull in between. For the moment, players and management can be proud of the effort put in this year and of the success achieved and who knows what 2015 might yet bring? Maintenance Update Help needed by Facilities in Collinstown tomorrow Saturday 15th from 10am to 12 noon. We aim to cut back shrubbery and tidy up items around the carpark and changing rooms to make the area safer for parking and playing during floodlit training. We also want to take down a tree to remove shade and dry out an area of main pitch. We are continuing to recruit people to help out in all Facilities aspect of the Christmas Markets; ring to get on the roster. 7

Minor Girls Football Champions The Minor Girls B football team won the Div 3 Championship last Friday night playing very stylish football.the game was played under lights in St Annes park in front of big Na Fianna support. The Minor B team were in the Div 3 Championship and were the only B team in that division. On the way to the final they beat Cuala, Whitehall, Scoil ui Chonaill and Naomh Barrog and scored a massive 22 goals and 33 points over the course of the 4 games. Na Fianna started well but couldn t score and then Clontarf raced ahead and were 1-5 to no score up after 20 minutes. Then brilliant goals by Saoirse Mc Cormack and Eimear Nolan meant that we were only a point down at the break with half time score of 1-6 to 2-2. The early stages of second half were even but half way through the half Na Fianna went ahead with a point by Roisin O Donoghue. Goals then from Roisin, Jenny O Connell and a spectacular soccer type volley from Robyn Drumm meant that Na Fianna were in the driving seat. At the final whistle Na Fianna were ahead and won by 5-8 to

A great game, a great win and great celebrations back in the club. Big thanks to Tiarnan from Junior Ladies for helping out when needed, to the U-16 girls football management for supplying some players to the team and to the U-16 hurling management who allowed use of their training slot when their season had finished. Friends of Na Fianna Night The annual Friends of Na Fianna Night, a night of revelry set aside for mentors, helpers and friends, will take place this year on Thursday 4th December starting at 8pm. Promises to be a great night with live music, complementary finger food and 3.50's all night. Put it in your diary and spread the word. Panto Rehearsals In Full Flow With just a few weeks to go before the curtain rises on this year s much awaited Na Fianna panto, Jack and the Beanstalk, the ante has been upped significantly and the cast and crew are working very hard in rehearsals. Long hours are being put in and the word coming back through completely unofficial channels is that this is going to be great craic. If you were impressed with last year s panto this production is going to blow you away according to our completely unofficial sources. Word of caution, get your tickets early! 9
