1 Issue August www. whittle seafc. com. au Eagles Grab Two Flags The Mighty Eagles grabbed two out of the three flags that were on offer last Sunday. The Under 10 s completed a hat-trick of flags in this age group for Dates to Note the Eagles. The 14 s were minor premiers and after losing the 2nd semi, got Friday 24 August their form back to come home with the flag. Commiserations to the Under Junior Presentation for 11 s who were striving for back to back flags but just came up a bit short on Under 9 s, 11 Blue, 13 s, the day. 16 s & 17 s Tuesday 28 August Junior Presentation for The Under 10 s started proceedings off Under 11 Gold with a comprehensive win over Yarrambat; as can be seen in the photo it was played Friday 31 August on a very sticky & muddy track at Lalor. Junior Presentation for The conditions were reflected in the final scoreline where we managed just 3 goals for the day, but more importantly we kept our opponents to only 3 points - a great effort. The boys were the front runners in this competition all season and carried that form right through their finals campaign. Well done to Brad and his boys on the victory, which is nothing more than they deserved. Under 10 s, 12 s & 14 s Inside this issue: Presidents Report 2 Footy News 7-8 Auskick Report 8 Winners of Best Dressed Supporter 8 The Under 11 s were valiant in defeat at Hurstbridge. We dominated for long periods of the game, but couldn t put away our chances. South Morang who have been the benchmark in our Division, were able to grab their opportunities when they came along. Bad luck boys, it was a great achievement coming up to Division 1 and making the grand final in your first season, a feat that has never been achieved before by a team from Whittlesea. So well done, the club is proud of your efforts in The Under 14 s appreciated the good track on offer at Hurstbridge and after a slow start imposed themselves on the game from the second quarter on. Epping kept the pressure on and came back strong in the 3rd quarter, a challenge the boys responded to, amidst the loss of Tizza for the rest of the game. The team again showed their class and responded magnificently to hold off their rivals in the run home, to take out the flag.
2 Page 2 Presidents Report What a great Season it has been for the Whittlesea Junior Football Club. Congratulations to our Premiers the Under 10 s and Under 14 s and Runners Up the Under 11 s. So good to see the many Members, Family & Friends that made the effort, dressed up (adored Miss Heaney s Blue & Gold Eagle Wings) and got down to Lalor & Hurstbridge to support the Teams. It does make all the difference, I was very proud of the behaviour of all finals players, support crew and spectators. Good sportsmanship is very important in Junior Footy and our Club reflected that. This week it is our turn to support the Senior Club for their big game on Saturday and our last mascot s of the Season are Jamin Molenkamp & Logan Davies big job ahead boys!! The Sunday night Celebrations were excellent so many people came back to the Club, Lisa & Dave Caldow worked the BBQ to feed everyone, Leanne Bland, Donna Talbot, Paula Heaphy & Melissa Newport had it all under control and many thanks to Phill & Ros behind the Bar. Last week I mentioned the NFL Best & Fairest Awards and acknowledged players that I had been made aware of on the evening. Reviewing the full vote count listings was even better! Brandyn Burgess was 4th on 15 votes for U13 Red and Luke Carroll & Joel Bramble 7th equal on 11 Votes for u17 s Blue. Great effort Guys!! Presentations kick off this Friday night at the Clubrooms please check your times, the Under 9 s will Oz-Ten Pin Epping. Many thanks to all for your Support throughout this Season 2012, I hope your kids have enjoyed their footy and playing for the Whittlesea Eagles. Please consider taking on a role to assist in 2013, for the number of members we have there is a small crew that do a great deal. We are all Volunteers and do it for the Kids nothing else. Any commitment that you are able to make assists the whole Club and we have had an excellent Season. Once the AGM date is approved by our Committee a list of Job Descriptions will go out for everyone to have a look at several long standing committee members will not be returning next Season and they leave behind a financially sound, strong & proud Club who has one of the best Grounds in the League to call home. Scoreboard and Away room improvements are scheduled for off season. We are moving in the right direction. Megan Beattie President Whittlesea Junior Football Club

The photos from the proud parents show that Cody & Chloe had a great time and managed to sidestep all the wet weather, mud and puddles to do a fine job. Logan Davies and Jan Molenkamp will be the last crew to do the Junior Mascot role this coming Saturday. And what an important game it is going to be, as the Seniors need to win to stay in Division 1 in We need everyone possible to come along and turn the Showgrounds into a cauldron of support when our boys take on Lower Plenty. Kick off is at 2 pm so get on down and cheer the Mighty Eagles on to victory.
8 Page 8 Auskick Report Major Sponsor of Whittlesea Auskick for Season 2012 The Auskickers had their end of season presentation at the clubrooms last Friday night. As can be seen by the photos below there was a good turnout of the boys & girls along with their parents, family, siblings and friends. Everyone was treated to a BBQ courtesy of the Senior Club. The kids had a fun night & enjoyed receiving their awards. Mark Allen was presented with an Auskick 10 year service award. Mark was proud of the fact that a good number of the boys who were to play in last weekends 3 grand finals, have graduated through the Auskick programme under his guidance. It can be said without any doubt that Mark s Auskick influence was a major factor in the Eagles having those 3 teams taking part and Brad his successor has ensured that that this influence has been maintained. Well done Brad and to Mick Bland and his band of coaches and to all those parents who helped out in the various roles this season. Special mention to Leanne & her canteen crew also. Best Dressed Supporter Winners The winner s of the two $50 Rebel Sports vouchers for being the best dressed supporters on Grand Final Day were; Luka & Billy Kennedy and Tiffany Seymour Good effort by all concerned. There will be more photos of our supporters in next weeks Newsletter.
9 Page 9 Next Issue of the Raptor The final issue of the Raptor for this season will be sent out in the first week of September. There will be a summary of the various team presentations and details of the next AGM. We are looking for a new President, Secretary and Treasurer at this stage. So please turn your mind to how you might be able to help out next year, not only in these role s, but other functions which help keep this club running. Plus there will be more photos from Grand Final day - thanks to all the people who have sent in photos, with particular thanks to Ingrid Brennan and Adrienne McMahon.
