2 Cornwall School Games Swimming Team The team swam really well against some very tough competition from across Cornwall to make 4 out of 5 finals. Our team was representing the Penninsula area as a Year 6 boys team and was made up of: Leyton Salmon (Y6), Louis Andrew (Y6), Joseph Clifton-Griffith (Y5) and Jake Rogers (Y5). The girls rotated positions throughout the matches. The first match was against Pensans CP School which unfortunately we lost 2-1. The next match was against Wadebridge Academy which we won 4-2. The last match in the league was against St Petroc s School and we won again 6-2. All of those matches meant we ended up in 2nd place in our league and that meant we had to play 1st place who were Stoke Climsland. They were a tough team which resulted in us losing 2-1. Then we had a play-off for 3rd/4th place against Pondhu School and we won 6-2. We were all presented with bronze medals and it was a fun day and we all did our best. By Sophie Lewis & Holly Apsey Tag Rugby Team Squad: Luca Roberts (C), Ryan Harris, Ollie Jehu, Callum Davies, Harvey Jones, Sam James, Sam Bray, Joshua Pengilly, Amy Peters, Lucy Nash, Meisha Matthews & Connie Andrew. In the morning the 8 teams were split into 2 pools, with the top 2 teams from each pool going through to play for the title of Cornwall School Champions. In our final afternoon match we had to beat Marham Church (Bude), a team we had drawn with 4 tries all in the morning. They had twin girls and another girl who towered over all of our team. However, some astute tactical observations about their defence from JP(coach) allowed our team to rush into a 4-0 lead. All of the replacements were rotated on and the final play of the match saw Luca give a sublime pass to Lucy to make the final score 7-1 to Trewirgie, which meant we were Cornwall School Games Tag Rugby Champions again! 2

3 More than just chocolate and cheese! Cedric Bruher a Swiss Teacher, from Switzerland, has been working alongside the Year 5 team over the last ten days as part of an International Schools relationship project. During this time, Mr Bruher has taught the children about the geography, culture and different languages in his country...as well as supplying both the children and staff with ample Swiss chocolate. dankeshon viele! If you would like a copy of the current menu please check out our Website or ask for a copy in the office. We will have a change to the menu when we return from the October half term break and we will let you know what is on the new menu in plenty of time! 3

8 TRANSFORMATION CPR Reg Charity Tel No : The Food Bank Trustees have agreed to extend the holiday meal programme to include the Summer holiday. We are able to offer a special voucher to those families whose children qualify for Free School Meals. The vouchers will be able to be redeemed on Tuesday 2nd/9th/16th/23rd and 30th August from 13:00-15:00 at Centenary Chapel in Camborne. If you think your family/child qualify for this please either telephone the school office on or pop in and chat to one of us in the office. A massive thank you to Mrs Pryor for running the club. Well done to all the children who have taken part, it has been a lot of fun - it will be Netball Club in the Autumn term when we return to school. Wanted for Year 6 Do you have any old, unwanted adult wellies, walking boots, hard hats, overalls, shirts & trousers you could donate please? Don t worry they are not for dressing the children in but for decorating the classroom for a theme! Thanks. They have said they will send PCSO s to discourage parents from our school parking in the Co-op car park when dropping off and collecting children. After School Cricket Club Monday 11th July will be the final after school cricket practice for Y5/6. Y4 after school cricket club has now finished. 9
