Reservations are always appreciated!! I would like to remind everyone about the Club s Employee Holiday Fund. This traditional gift is the most appreciated employee benefit we provide to our staff. This voluntary gift is distributed in December among all Club employees with exception of me. Distribution is based on length of service and income level. This year, on request from many members, we will implement an automatic charge on November 30 to your monthly statement. This automatic charge will reflect your 2017 contribution or $ Please remember you will have the option to either increase, decrease or decline your contribution. Thank you in advance for the continued support of this great holiday tradition at CCP. As we look to the end of the year, the management staff and I are working diligently to present the 2019 operational budget to the Board of Directors for approval. The goals for the budget are to continue to operate the Club fiscally responsible and address the continued need for top level amenities and services. As all of you are aware, these services come with expenses and it is our highest priority to manage these expenditures while achieving our goal of total member satisfaction. The Club is projected to end 2018 meeting many of our budgeted goals. This has been a good year but we did see a slight decline in membership. Keeping the membership levels up and seeing continued usage and growth helps to enhances the managements abilities to run the club at the highest expectation levels. I will keep everyone informed of what to look forward to in The annual meeting was held on Tuesday, October 16th. Tyler Petersen, Board President, reported to the GENERAL MANAGER continued on page 2 Tucked away along the world s most beautiful drive at 4700 North Grandview Drive Peoria Heights, IL Phone Fax (309) (309)

5 CLUB ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES FROM TEE TO GREEN BY ANDY MORRIS Where did the fall go? Seems like we skipped fall and went straight from warm weather to winter. With the Holidays in front of us and another year of golf quickly coming to an end it just seems to pass far too quickly. It won t be long and we will be talking holiday parties, snow and plowing. The warm weather of 2018 will be missed! November is a busy time for the course and we see many of our seasonal staff depart for the year. Many will return in the spring to join us for the 2019 season. We are very fortunate in that our core staff return annually and we can hit the ground running. Having an experienced staff is very much appreciated by our department managers. We couldn t do it without them on the team and we thank them for their efforts over the season. We will see them in the spring but between now and then they will enjoy some welldeserved time off. The winter months are busy for the Golf Maintenance Department. We focus on equipment maintenance and tear apart many pieces of equipment for their annual maintenance. The rush becomes getting it all put back together before the crew returns in the spring. We also have some course and club projects that we work on during the off season. Drainage work, landscape improvements and tree work all become priorities for the winter months. Again this year we will be planting trees in the spring. Harry Puterbaugh heads up the tree program and assists in finding donors to purchase trees to be planted. If you are interested in participating in the tree replacement program please contact Mr. Puterbaugh for more information. As we welcome in the winter the question of winter activities on the course usually comes up. The Green Committee and Golf Maintenance staff encourage winter activities on the course. Please see the Winter Guidelines for on course activities in this issue of Grandview. Again this winter we will use a flag system for allowing course activities. The flag is on the #10 tee and visible from the pro shop parking lot. A red flag means course unavailable for winter activities and a blue flag means the course is open for winter activities. The decision to allow activities is based on ground moisture, snow depth and how susceptible the turf is to damage. Please follow the guidelines for activities and check the flag on #10 tee when planning some winter activities. The course is beautiful when under snow so a winter walk can be really enjoyable. One of the major projects that takes place in November is the annual decorating of the clubhouse. Annette Hollaway and Roger Helton spearhead the effort to get the clubhouse and grounds looking festive. They do a great job every year and if you see them around join us in thanking them for their efforts. It is a lot of work! The Golf Maintenance Department would like to wish every member a joyous, happy and safe holiday season. It is a special time of year spending time with family and friends as we move through the holiday season. In our department we all enjoy some time with our families and friends and the opportunity to relax and recharge for the next season. It is our wish that you all enjoy the holidays! It may sound funny but it won t be long until we talk about the 2019 golf season. Until then, enjoy some Central Illinois winter weather and the holidays. Hopefully we won t have to get the plow out too many times but we will see. See you on the course! 2018 TURKEY SHOOT 4 PERSON SCRAMBLE SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 3 10:00am Registration, 11:00am Shotgun Start $40 player entry fee RESERVATIONS REQUESTED Entry fee includes cart, lunch, prizes, and "Pro Treats". Guests are welcome. NO DRESS CODE! Call the golf shop at to reserve your spot. COUNTRY CLUB OF PEORIA 5
6 CLUB ATHLETIC ACTIVITIES Winter Activity Guidelines The following guidelines have been established for winter activities on the golf course for this upcoming winter. The Golf Maintenance Staff and the Greens Committee want our members to enjoy winter recreation on the course while minimizing impact on the turf. In order to protect the turf from damage, we ask that the following policy be followed. 1. Sledding will be allowed on #6 hill in front of the middle tee box, on #9 hill in front of the back tee box, and on the driving range in front of the practice tee. Please keep sleds off of greens and tee areas. 2. When sledding please use only flat bottom saucers, sleds and toboggans. NO RUNNER SLEDS ALLOWED. Runner sleds have the potential to cause serious turf damage. 3. Cross country skiing will be allowed around the perimeter of the course. Flags will be used to mark the designated trails to be followed. DO NOT SKI OVER GREENS AND TEE AREAS. 4. A flag will be placed on #10 tee at the Pro Shop parking lot. If the flag is BLUE then sledding and skiing are allowed. If the flag is RED then winter activities are prohibited. The amount of snow cover and ground conditions will dictate if activities are allowed. You may also contact the golf maintenance staff at or the clubhouse at to check current conditions. 5. No snow mobiles or four wheeling is allowed on the course at any time. If these guidelines are followed there will be minimal impact to the course and the membership will be able to enjoy winter recreation on the course. Utilizing designated areas and trails will help control and monitor use of the property by non-members. As always, we appreciate your help by following the above rules for the winter season. Thank you. 6 NOV/DEC 2018 GRANDVIEWS
