2 From the Club House It's hard to believe January is over and we are moving into February! We hope everyone survived the snow storm! In spite of the bad weather we still had many people enjoying the facility. There were football and basketball parties as well as business meetings, classes, and parties. We are so pleased so many of you are really utilizing everything the club has to offer! Make your reservation now for Valentine's Day. Dinner reservations will begin at 4pm. Come out and enjoy delicious food in a relaxed comfortable atmosphere with no lines! Keep us in mind for any of your banquet needs. We would be happy to cater events for your place of business as well. And don t forget Super Bowl Sunday! We can whip up trays for your party or for you to take to a party you are attending. No need to wait until the last minute to meet your minimum, enjoy it now! We are happy to have the opportunity to serve you! Have Your Next Family or Company Event Here! 3 MENS GOLF SAVE THE DATE Men's Member-Guest!!! This year's Men's Member-Guest will be played on June 7th,8th and 9th. Note the change for this year's event- the First 9-hole match will be played on Friday (June 7th) in the Evening! (5:00/5:30 approximate shotgun start) This will be followed by 18 holes on Saturday (June 8th) and 18 holes on Sunday (June 9th) to make up the (5) 9-hole matches. Practice Rounds can be played Thursday or Friday before play of the first match. Please contact the golf shop with any questions and plan to join us for this great event!! Rules of Golf Seminar- The WVGA will be holding a Rules Seminar here at BCC on March 12th. Get informed on the new rules changes for the 2019 Season! Titleist Buy 3, Get 1 Free Deal is BACK! 4 PGA JUNIOR LEAGUE TEAM "BCC BOMBERS" Registration is now open for our PGA Junior League team the BCC Bombers. We will hold an informational meeting in the Spring to provide more information on the league. The PGA Junior League is available for those ages Must not turn 14 before August 1st. This is considered the Little League of Golf with teams competing against teams from other local golf courses. We are in the process of working with other clubs to form a league schedule for 2019! 5 Mike Gervais named Top 50 Kids Coach by U.S. Kids Golf Congratulations to our Assistant Pro, Mike Gervais who has been named to U.S. Kids Golf s annual list of Top 50 Kids Coaches for the second year in a row. The Award recognizes the world s most outstanding youth golf instructors. Mike received his award at the Annual PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Florida. Since 2004, U.S. Kids Golf has honored the best youth golf coaches with the Top 50 Kids Coach Award. The Top 50 Kids Coaches of 2018 includes golf professionals from 28 states, and nine international countries including Australia, Austria, Canada, China, England, Hong Kong, Italy, and Northern Ireland. Each year, award recipients include coaches who work at public, private, resort and municipal courses. These coaches are honored as more than teachers of the game, explained Dan Van Horn, the President and Founder of U.S. Kids Golf. They create outstanding opportunities for young golfers to learn in a fun and rewarding environment that instills a love for the game and engages the entire family. Their ability to connect with students and fully engage them in the learning process sets them apart. Mike is very excited to continue his work with the junior golf program here at BCC and thankful to all of his students and their families for their trust and support!! 7 WOMEN S GOLF ASSOCIATION OF BCC Due to a scheduling conflict with the West Virginia Golf Association, it has become necessary to change the date of our Ladies Member/Guest. The WVGA has decided to play both the Senior Amateur and Amateur tournaments during the month of June rather than one in June and one in July as in the past. So the date of the Ladies Member/Guest will be Tuesday, July 23rd. If you have arranged your group for the member/guest, please notify your guests of the changing date. Updated upcoming dates for 2019 are as follows: April 23rd- Opening Day Breakfast and Scramble; July 23rd- Ladies Member/Guest and May 4th, First day of Ladies Saturday morning golf. We will probably have an organizational meeting for the Member/Guest around the end of April. The date will be announced soon so that anyone wishing to help can come to the meeting. See everyone on April 23! 2019 BCC Women s Golf Association Calendar April 23, 10:00 Tee off Opening Day Breakfast & Scramble April 30 May 7, 14, 21, 28 June 4, 11, 18, 25 July 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 Member/Guest Tuesday, July 23 August 6, 13, 20, 27 Championship Weekend August 17 & 18 September 10:00 tee off, 10, 17, 24 October 1, 10:00 Tee off 9-hole event, luncheon and awards October 10:00 tee off, 8, 15, 22, 29 - weather permitting Competitions: Club Championship, Handicap Tournament, WV Pin, President s Cup, Ringer Board and Par/Birdie Tree Above Dates are on Tuesdays. We tee off at 9:00 from May through August, 10:00 in April, September, and October. Next year, we are going to try a Saturday morning Ladies golf. VJ suggested that we do tee times around 10:30 every other Saturday which would give those who work an opportunity to play with the Women s Golf Association. Ladies Saturday play will be on the following dates, May 4 and 18; June 1, 15, and 29; July 13 and 27; and August 10 & 24. 7
