(916) BEST WISHES FOR A HEALTHY, HAPPY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR Big and Little Sir Tidbits Big Sir Jim McDonald Well as you are reading this Newsletter, the holidays are now behind us and hopefully we are all ready for a new and exciting year. I am very pleased to be serving as Big Sir this year, and I hope that I can live up to your expectations. If at any time you have suggestions or comments that will improve our club, please let me know. I want to thank all the newly installed members of the BEC, as well as the outgoing members and all others who have given of their time in service to the club. We are successful because these fine people have generously stepped up when called upon to serve. Special thanks to Bob Nelson and Bob Schmidt for the wonderful Christmas luncheon. As you know, we changed venues this year and held it at the Rancho Cordova Marriott. The food was great, the room was decorated nicely and I heard a lot of positive comments. If you were unable to join us, please consider attending next year as this is a splendid event. We will continue our efforts to attract new SIR members. I asked the ladies at the Christmas luncheon to be our goodwill ambassadors by talking to their lady friends about the club and encouraging their husbands to join us. Likewise, I am asking all of YOU to bring a friend to a meeting. One way to accomplish this is to continually have interesting speakers. In January we will have former Sacramento County Sherriff and current KFBK radio host John McGinnis. I know that he will deliver an inspiring talk. See you there, and please bring a friend. An Irish saying: Smile when you are being sworn in as the Big Sir at the Ladies Day Christmas luncheon!
2 Little Sir Bob Nelson Happy New Year fellow SIR Branch 150 members!! It is an honor that I get to be your Little Sir for 2017! Jim did a great job in 2016 and has been a great mentor to me in the duties and responsibilities of the position. I look forward to working with Jim and the BEC to continue the great leadership that have gone before us. We have a great Branch, and we have to challenge ourselves to grow our membership in Last year we gained and lost members such that at the end we are down three. Golf is our main activity, and we need to promote additional areas of interest to the non-golfers. To acquire and retain members we have to get them involved. This will be my focus in Cheers, YHLS! (Editors note: what does YHLS stand for? Send me your guess and I may announce your skills at the next meeting. Bob is not eligible and if you ask him he is sworn to secrecy.)
