2 Stacie Cook Assistant General Manager Membership & Special Events Change cultivates creativity, new prospective, and growth. As a management team, we are embracing the changes that the Club is experiencing and choosing to welcome new possibilities. We would like to thank Dr. Howard Farrell and the Board of Governors, along with the rest of the membership for their guidance and support as we continue to build on the historic foundation that is Wichita Falls Country Club. For 104 years, the Club has been a pillar in the community and we are looking forward to what comes next. During September and October, we have planned multiple events for you all to enjoy. From Cooking Classes, Parents & Tots Finger Painting, the Labor Day Luau, Scotch Dinner, the Fall-Out Classic, Wimbledon Tennis Tournament, to the everyday goings on of the Club, we are committed to providing the best service and experience to everyone we have the pleasure to serve. We encourage you all to continue to fill out comment cards so that we know what you all would like to see change or continue. When the Membership Committee appvoed to offer a seasonal pool membership this year, we had a goal of reaching 10 families. I was able to sell 20 of these memberships and we are hoping for an even better turn out next year! When a new member joins the Club, I always welcome them to the WFCC family because that is what we are, a Club Family. P.S. Please remember to call me to get your holiday parties on the calendar as soon as possible, as most weekends for November and December are already spoken for. We hope you will allow our staff to create a wonderful memory for you and your group, whatever the size of the gathering may be. 3 Harvey Miller Executive Chef We are closing out another remarkable summer once again. Expectations and set goals for the last couple of months have been extraordinary and I am pleased to be working with such a wonderful staff. The reactions and feedback from Membership has been positive and helpful. Your encouragement is extremely motivating and I personally want to say thank you for the support you have given to myself and the staff. The pool participation was excellent this year as well as the member events from the Independence Day Celebration to the transparent and informative Town Hall Meeting. As your chef I am pleased to say the new Light and Fare menu has been a great success and we are in hopes that the fall insert will be just as positive. We are making improvements daily and I encourage everyone to continue giving feedback, so I am able to respond to each one expeditiously with precision and productivity. I am unable to stress how important it is to know what you as members are looking for so please do not hesitate. When you see me floating from table to table, or room to room, stop me and let me know what your expectations are, we do not what to stunt this positive momentum. I have plans in the working to start performing cooking seminars and or classes for you, so that you are informed of my procedures as well the techniques of the kitchen. You will learn firsthand from myself the joy of cooking, balancing of flavors, and what makes a successful dish, as well as a wonderful dining experience. It is my goal, and my aspiration to bring the best cuisine, the best dining experience, as well satisfying all of your food fantasies. Let us keep our eyes on the prize and enjoy these great upcoming events and once again thank you so much for allowing me to be the best chef I can be and I will continue taking us to the next level in dining! These tournaments are an excellent way for your child to experience a match setting while practicing score keeping, playing out points, and learning how to be a good sport while competing! Keep an eye out for a sign up for this event! To bring up the end of the month on September 21st and 22nd, we will be hosting our annual adults doubles Wimbledon Tournament. Academy 3 Kids: Tuesday/Thursday 5:00-6:30 Beginners/Tiny Tots: Tuesday/Thursday 5:00-6:00 Lots of great things coming! We are excited to get the fall season started! 8 Jared Hotchkiss HEAD GROUNDSKEEPER As the seasons begin to transition from Summer to Fall, so do we on the golf course. Fall is a great time to recover any weak or stressed turf from the Summer heat! We also focus our efforts on preparing the turf for the Winter time cold. We will begin raising heights of cut on the tees and fairways (after the Fall Out Classic) to protect the turf from excessive cold temperatures. We will be implementing a new cart traffic policy this fall, two cedar stakes off the fairway. The stake closet to the tee box will be an entry stake. Please enter the fairway after the initial stake. Once on the fairway please keep the majority of the cart traffic on the fairway. Another stake will be placed off the fairway closer to the green. Once you have reached this stake, please exit the turf before the stake, and maintain cart traffic on the cart path only for the remainder of the hole. Par 3 s will not have any cedar stakes on them, please keep the carts on the cart path only for all the par 3 s. The purpose of this policy to alleviate cart traffic around tees and greens. Cart traffic can be detrimental to turf quality and density. Please be courteous of the members and their guest behind you. I f you have any questions or comments, please feel free to ask me! See you on the golf course! Stay up to date on what we are doing on the golf course. 11 Womans Golf Association With the dog days of summer now behind us, we would like to brag on those WGA lady golfers who stayed the course (literally) and continued to play golf despite the heat! You absolutely ROCK! Earlier this year, many of you participated in our WGA Chardonnay Clinic series and learned some valuable techniques, golf etiquette and more from our Pro Shop gurus, Mark Greer and Bobby Stone. A new series of clinics, appropriately named the Cabernet Clinic (red wine and cooler temperatures c est la vie!) are scheduled for Thursday, September 13, Thursday, October 18, and Thursday, November 8 all weather permitting, of course. The WGA will also host our 2nd Annual Halloween Glo-Ball Event on Tuesday, October 30. Just in case you weren t able to participate in last year s event, you should know that the WGA wined and dined its lady golfers then we all headed out to the driving range to test our night-golf skills on the spooky course set up by Mark and Bobby! You won t want to miss it this time! Contact the Pro Shop for details and to sign up for any of these events! Once again, the best method we ve found for reaching our WGA gals for scheduled and impromptu events is by text. If we don t have your cell phone number, please contact Cheryl Prothro or Linda Hanger. See you out on the course! GLO-BALL GOLF 2017 Mark Greer Head Golf Professional PGA Junior League a huge success at WFCC! The younger golfers of WFCC have been swept up in the fun of Junior League Golf. Mixing the team concept and making golf friendlier has restored the excitement to Junior Golf in Wichita Falls. Three of our seven players advanced to Post-Season Play! Make sure that your kids don t miss the fun next summer. Look for Junior Golf updates every week in the Golf Update ! MGA Summer Series #2 Congrats to Gary Butler, winner of MGA Summer Series #2 and new leader of the MGA Cup Points List, Sponsored by McBride s Steakhouse. Also, Coach Jeff Ray, our gross winner, shot his second consecutive 69 in tournament p l a y. Congrats C o a c h, really great golf!
