Greetings, As many of you know, Chef Josh has accepted another position, and resigned. We all wish him well in his new endeavor and appreciate all that he has done for Oakwood.

Charles has over 20 years experience as an Executive Chef, most recently with Choctaw Resorts and Casinos in Oklahoma, and at the Country Club at Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, Louisiana.

2 Greetings, As many of you know, Chef Josh has accepted another position, and resigned. We all wish him well in his new endeavor and appreciate all that he has done for Oakwood. I am pleased to announce the hiring of our new Chef, Charles Reed. Charles has over 20 years experience as an Executive Chef, most recently with Choctaw Resorts and Casinos in Oklahoma, and at the Country Club at Golden Nugget in Lake Charles, Louisiana. The staff and I are excited to have him on board and we are looking forward to his creative and quality offerings. In addition, our culinary team will be complimented with Sous Chef Mark Thompson. Mark joins us from Granite City in Cedar Rapids where he was the Executive Chef. Oakwood Members should be proud to host one of the finest culinary teams in the Quad Cities. There will be a Meet the Culinary Team held in the dining room on Friday, April 13, beginning at 5:00 Pm until 7:00 PM. Member s are welcome to stop out and introduce themselves to these fine gentlemen. As we begin another fun filled season at the club I invite everyone to visit the Oakwood website frequently to stay abreast of upcoming events. This month we have 4 golf events and 4 dining/social events for you to enjoy. How about a Lobster Boil to get the party started with a 9 Hole Scramble the following afternoon featuring hors d oeuvres after play? It doesn t get any better than that! The course weathered exceptionally well and looks fantastic. With the redesign of hole 18, and sand trap renovation, the course has been re-rated by the Iowa Golf Association and hole handicaps will need to be re-established this summer. Stay tuned for further information on the process. In the mean-time get out there and enjoy your private course! Now is the time to sell, sell, sell!! Tell your friends and neighbors all about the hidden gem in Coal Valley and invite them out to play and relax. You are our greatest ambassadors and tis the season to recruit. Contact Eric or Allan for more information Tip of the Month - Shoulder Turn & Weight Transfer In my opinion two of the most important aspects of the golf swing are how you turn, and transfer your weight throughout the swing. These two aspects play such an important role in developing a powerful and consistent swing. For those of you that have taken a lesson from me, you know that I am all about keeping it simple and my focus is using having my students use their bigger core muscles to control the swing (ie. making a good turn), while using your weight transfer properly to create more speed. Members will accumulate points throughout the year by playing in events. $1 from each entry fee will be collected throughout the year, with the winners receiving a payout (golf shop credit) at the end of the year.
