DenverWomensLacrosse PIONEER NOTES GAME INFORMATION The University of Denver women s lacrosse team takes on the Louisville Cardinals for their 2015 home opener at Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium today. MEDIA INFORMATION Game will be broadcast on Altitude. Also live stats at www. denverpioneers.com/ LAST TIME OUT The Pioneers traveled to Nashville on 2/24 to take on Vanderbilt. After the game was pushed back a day, the Pioneers won ABOUT DENVER The Pioneers are 2-1 this season and 1-0 in MPSF play. The Pioneers are ranked 20th in the IWLCA Poll and tied for 19th in the Inside Lacrosse Poll. ABOUT LOUISVILLE The Cardinals are 2-0 on the young season. They are currently ranked 13th in the IWLCA Coaches Poll and 15th in the Inside Lacrosse Poll. LAST MEETING This game today is the third all-time between the two schools. The series is tied at 1-1. O CAPTAIN MY CAPTAIN The Pioneers have tabbed four seniors as their captains this season. Hannah Hook, Kiki Boone, Jill Remenapp, and Chelsea Cook. I LL BE BACK The Pioneers return seven starters from last year s NCAA Tournament squad including goalkeeper Hannah Hook. Also returning is attacker Jill Remenapp who lead the Pioneers in assists and was second in the NCAA last season. Rachael McKinnon also returns. Her sophomore season featured 53 total points, 51 of which came from goals. DISHING IT OUT Senior captain Jill Remenapp has made it her signature move to pile up numbers in the assist column. She holds the second most assists in DU histiry in a single season with 74 in She averaged 3.5 assists per game. Last season Jill racked up 51 assists. Jill hold the Denver record for season assists. Currently she stands 5th on the all time assists leaders in NCAA History with 153. Jill was named second Team All-American last season and was first team All- West Denver Women s Lacrose Game Notes page 2 MINDING THE NET Redshirt senior Hannah Hook is back as the Pioneers goalkeeper. Hook started every game for the Pioneers last season including the two NCAA Tournament games. Hook tallied 171 saves last season in the net for the Pios. Her 190 saves in 2013 ranks third all time in Pioneers history. Last season she only allowed 8.27 goals per game, while the Pioneers offense averaged goals per game. RIDING THE STREAK Under Coach Liza Kelly s tenure here in Denver, the Pioneers have the two longest winning streaks in the history of the team. In 2013, the Pioneers had a 15-game win streak; 2014 featured a winning streak of 17 games that lead all the way to an NCAA Tournament berth and first round win. OUR HOUSE Currently, the Pioneers are on a 12 game home winning streak in Peter Barton Lacrosse Stadium. Pioneers are outscoring their opponents during the streak in Denver. HEY ROOK Seven Pioneers are freshmen this season. Hanna Bocklet, Caitlin Derry, Riley Eggeman, Katherine Fischer, Kennedy Milburn, Delia Snediker, and Finley Sutton. THE BRAIN TRUST This is the fourth season for assistant coach Lauren Benner. The University of Virginia alum was a volunteer assistant the 2012 season but was quickly promoted to assistant coach that summer. Associate Head Coach Matt Lawicki is back for his third season in Denver. Previously Matt was an assistant at the University of Louisville for five seasons as a recruiting coordinator.
