The Bruins are seeking their fifth straight win over USC, a streak that began with an win over the Trojans at Pauley Pavilion on Feb. 18, The Bruins have gone 8-4 in 12 previous meetings against USC at Galen Center, an arena that opened for the season. Last year, UCLA went 2-0 against USC with an win at Pauley Pavilion (Feb. 3) before securing an comeback victory over the Trojans at Galen Center (March 3). Saturday s game will mark UCLA s third consecutive road contest. LAST WEEK IN OREGON Prince Ali and Kris Wilkes each averaged 17.5 points in the Bruins two road games last week, as UCLA earned an overtime win at Oregon (Jan. 10) before absorbing a loss at Oregon State on Sunday (Jan. 13). Ali scored a teamleading 22 points, connecting on 7 of 10 shots, as the Bruins stormed back from a deficit with less than 58 seconds to go in the win at Oregon. Five UCLA players scored in double figures in that victory. Wilkes scored a team-high 21 points as one of three UCLA players to score in double figures in the Bruins 13-point loss at Oregon State. NOW THAT IS HISTORIC: UCLA trailed by as many as 17 points (65-48, at 6:53 in the second half) at Oregon on Thursday, Jan. 10, before mounting a furious, late comeback. The Bruins were down, 72-59, with 2:31 to play. UCLA s comeback marked the largest deficit overcome in the final minute of a Pac-12 game and tied the sixth-largest deficit overcome in the final minute in NCAA Division I history (according to ESPN Stats & Info). SCORING IN DOUBLE FIGURES Sophomore guard Kris Wilkes has scored in double figures in all 17 games. The 6-foot-8 guard from Indianapolis, Ind., has become the first player to accomplish that feat since then-freshman TJ Leaf scored in double figures in UCLA s first 21 games in Wilkes has averaged 17.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 17 contests. He has scored at least 20 points in five games this season (and in 11 career contests). Wilkes finished with a team-leading 21 points in the Bruins loss to Oregon State last Sunday evening and averaged 17.5 points in the team s two road games last week. ASSIST LEADER Sophomore Jaylen Hands leads all Pac-12 players in total assists (112) and assists per game (6.9). The 6-foot-3 guard from San Diego has averaged 11.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 6.6 assists through 17 games. Hands ranks second in the Pac-12 in assist-turnover ratio (2.2-to-1), through games played Monday, Jan. 14. He has recorded at least nine assists in six games and tallied at least 10 assists in three straight games in December (versus Hawai i, Notre Dame and Belmont). RARE FEAT: Hands became the first Pac-12 player to record at least 10 assists in three straight games since USC s Brandon Granville in March Granville also accomplished that feat in January 2000 and November CRASHING THE BOARDS UCLA led the Pac-12 and ranked No. 6, nationally, in total rebounds per game (42.9) through Monday, Jan. 14. In addition, the Bruins ranked No. 3 in the Pac-12 and No. 39, nationally, in rebounding margin (+6.0). Freshman Moses Brown (11.9 ppg, 9.0 rpg) entered the week ranking No. 4 in the Pac-12 in total rebounds per game (9.0) and was first in overall field goal percentage (67.7%). Brown, a 7-foot-1 center, also ranked No. 3 in the conference in blocks per game (2.2). FIRST TIME SINCE: Moses Brown s 23-point, 14-rebound and eight-block effort against Saint Francis (Nov. 16) marked the first time any UCLA player had at least 20 points and five blocks in a game since Jan. 22, 2000 (Jerome Moiso). MULTIPLE DOUBLE-DOUBLES: Four UCLA players have logged point-rebound double-doubles this year (Moses Brown, Kris Wilkes, Cody Riley, Jalen Hill). In addition, Hill recorded a team-high 20 rebounds versus Presbyterian (Nov. 19). STANDING TALL UCLA s 17-person roster includes eight players who measure at least 6-foot-8. Freshman Moses Brown (7-foot-1, 245 pounds) is the Bruins tallest player since the late Mike Lanier (7-foot-7, 310 pounds) competed as a reserve center for UCLA in and UCLA redshirt junior Alex Olesinski and redshirt freshman Jalen Hill both stand at 6-feet- 10, while freshmen Shareef O Neal and Kenneth Nwuba, sophomore Chris Smith and redshirt freshman Cody Riley all stand at 6-foot-9. Sophomore guard Kris Wilkes rounds out the eight-person group at 6-foot-8. COACHING CHANGE Murry Bartow currently serves as UCLA s interim head coach, as Steve Alford was relieved of his head coaching duties on Dec. 31, Bartow, the son of former UCLA head coach Gene Bartow, arrived at UCLA in April He served as interim head coach at the University of South Florida in after having been a collegiate head coach for 18 seasons 12 years at East Tennessee State ( through ) and six seasons at UAB ( through ). vs. 10-7, , 2-2 UCLA has gone 8-4 at USC s Galen Center since the arena was opened prior to the season.

NEWS AND NOTES UCLA has shot 48.6 percent from the field in four Pac-12 games... in the team s three Pac-12 wins, UCLA shot 52.1 percent overall and had outscored the opposition by an average of 13.3 points per game. The Bruins have posted a 9-2 record this year when leading at halftime... those two losses were against North Carolina in Las Vegas (Nov. 23) and versus Belmont in Pauley Pavilion (Dec. 15). The Bruins have gone 1-5 when trailing at halftime, with the victory being last Thursday s dramatic comeback win in overtime at Oregon (Jan. 10)... UCLA trailed by as many as nine points with less than one minute to go in the second half. UCLA has made at least 15 free throws in eight games... the team made a season-high 25 free throws (25-for-33) in a home win over LMU... UCLA shot a season-high 76.2 percent from the line against Presbyterian on Nov. 19 (16-for-21). Kris Wilkes has scored in double figures in all 17 games this season... Wilkes leads all current UCLA players in most career points (746), career field goals made (268), career three-pointers made (90) and career free throws made (120). Kris Wilkes is one of four Pac-12 players to have scored in double figures in every game played this year... he is joined on that list by Arizona s Brandon Randolph (17 games), Oregon State s Tres Tinkle (14 games) and Oregon s Bol Bol (9 games). Kris Wilkes has scored at least 20 points in five games this season, totaling a career-high 27 points in the season-opening victory at home against Purdue Fort Wayne... Wilkes made 11 of 19 shots in the win over Purdue Fort Wayne (Nov. 6). In Dec. 2018, Jaylen Hands became the first UCLA player with multiple games of at least 10 assists in the same season since Lonzo Ball finished his freshman year ( ) with seven games of at least 10 assists. Prince Ali is the oldest player on UCLA s roster (currently a redshirt junior) and has played in 79 career games, the highest career total of any current Bruin... Ali leads all current UCLA players in career minutes played (1,528). Prince Ali made a career-high five three-pointers (on six attempts), totaling a career-high 23 points, in the team s victory over Hawai i (Nov. 28)... he was a perfect 4-for-4 from 3-point range before the 16:00 mark in the first half that night. Moses Brown became UCLA s first player with at least 19 points and 17 rebounds in his collegiate debut since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (then Lew Alcindor) tallied a then-school-record 56 points and grabbed 21 rebounds on Dec. 3, Moses Brown had eight blocks in the team s win against Saint Francis U (Nov. 16)... since the school began to officially record blocks in , only three other players at UCLA have recorded at least eight blocks in one game. Jalen Hill tallied a season-best 20 rebounds in the team s victory over Presbyterian (Nov. 19)... that marked the highest single-game rebound total by a Bruin since Kevin Love had 21 rebounds at Oregon State on Jan. 26, UCLA has made a season-high 10 three-pointers in two games against North Carolina in Las Vegas (Nov. 23) and at home against Hawai i (Nov. 28)... the Bruins shot a season-best 50.0% from 3-point range against Hawai i (10-for-20). Presbyterian attempted 45 3-pointers in UCLA s victory (Nov. 19)... that marked the highest total attempted against UCLA since the NCAA adopted the 3-point line (prior to )... Presbyterian made 13 of 45 3-point attempts. PAC-12 PLAY UCLA went 11-7 in Pac-12 play last season, one year after having gone 15-3 in league action. Over the previous five seasons ( through ), UCLA compiled a Pac-12 record of The Bruins have recorded double-digit victories in conference action in 12 of the last 14 years, with 15 wins in , 16 wins in and 15 victories in The Bruins last won the Pac-12 s regular-season title in 2013, going 13-5 in league games that year. BRUINS AT HOME UCLA went 14-2 at home last season and has won 39 of 44 games in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom since the start of the campaign. During UCLA s season, the Bruins went 16-1 at home. Last year, the team s only home losses came against No. 25 Cincinnati (12/16/17) and Colorado (1/13/18). Since UCLA renovated Pauley Pavilion prior to the season, the Bruins have tallied an overall home record of (posting an 85.0 winning percentage). STREAKING UCLA has made at least one 3-pointer played in its last 639 games. That 3-point streak began after the Bruins went 0-for- 14 from 3-point territory in a loss at No. 2-ranked Stanford on Feb. 3, 2000 (Maples Pavilion). UCLA has made at least three 3-pointers in 186 of 191 games since the start of the season. The Bruins made a school single-gamerecord 19 three-pointers (on 31 attempts) at Colorado on Jan. 12, 2017 (UCLA won that game, ). VERSATILE PLAYER Sophomore Chris Smith made his first collegiate start in UCLA s Pac-12-opening win against Stanford (Jan. 3). Smith, a 6-foot-9 guard who was born in Chicago, Ill., has averaged 7.7 points and 4.9 rebounds per game. Against Stanford, he played a career-high 30 minutes. Two days later, he totaled a career-high-tying 15 points and registered five rebounds and three steals in UCLA s win over California. Smith, who grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, will enter Saturday s game at USC having shot 40.7 percent from the field and 30.2 percent from 3-point territory (30-for-40). FRESHMEN GUARDS Freshmen David Singleton and Jules Bernard have played in all 17 games, appearing off the bench. Both players hail from the Los Angeles area. Bernard, a 6-foot-6 guard (Windward School in Los Angeles), has registered 5.9 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. Bernard has scored in double figures in two games. He scored a career-high 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds in a win over Saint Francis U (Nov. 16). Singleton, a 6-foot-4 guard (Bishop Montgomery High School in Torrance, Calif.) has averaged 4.5 points and 1.4 rebounds per game, shooting 46.7 percent from 3-point distance. HE S OUR PRINCE Redshirt junior Prince Ali will enter Saturday s game at USC having averaged 10.4 points in 17 games. He has registered 15.0 points and 3.3 rebounds in four Pac-12 games this season. In the Bruins two road games last week, Ali averaged 17.5 points while connecting on 5 of 10 shots from 3-point territory. He shot 57.9 percent from the field in those two games, making 11 of 19 shots. Ali scored a team-leading 22 points and was 7-for-10 from the field in last Thursday night s overtime victory at Oregon (UCLA won, 87-84). Ali has totaled 590 career points and 174 career rebounds.

4 SHOOTING OVER 50 PERCENT UCLA has gone 6-0 this season when shooting at least 50 percent. In three Pac-12 victories, UCLA shot at least 50 percent. Last Thursday evening, the Bruins shot 51.7 percent in an overtime win at Oregon (Jan. 10). When UCLA s opponents have shot at least 50 percent, the Bruins have gone 0-2 (vs. Michigan State on Nov. 22, at Cincinnati on Dec. 19). UCLA shot a season-best 57.1 percent in the third game of the season, a victory at home against Saint Francis U (Nov. 16). STREAKING AGAINST USC The Bruins have compiled a all-time record against USC (that total reflects one USC victory that was vacated by the Trojans from ). While UCLA has won the last four games in the all-time series, USC won the prior four games against UCLA (including three contests in ). Prior to USC s four-game winning streak, UCLA had secured six consecutive victories against the Trojans (from Feb through March 2015). Over the past 10 seasons ( through ), UCLA has compiled a 14-9 record against USC. THE BRUINS WHEN... Since the start of the season, UCLA has gone when leading at halftime (spanning 191 games). During that same span, the Bruins have gone when trailing at halftime and 3-5 when tied at the break. The Bruins trailed Oregon by as many as 17 points in the second half (65-48, at 6:53) and were down by 13 points (72-59) at the 2:31 mark. OPPONENT, LARGEST COMEBACK (in ): The Bruins led Belmont by 12 points (29-17) with 8:24 in the first half in a loss in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom on Dec. 15. With approximately 35,000 gross square feet of space, the facility stands near Pauley Pavilion s southwest corner, along the south end of the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Mo Ostin Basketball Center was designed by award-winning architectural design firm Kevin Daly Architects, in partnership with globally acclaimed high-performance design firm AECOM. The practice facility features two separate courts Russell Westbrook Court for the men s team and Ann Meyers Drysdale Court for the women s team. The building also houses the Kevin Love Athletic Performance Center, which is raised over the main entrance, has its own skylights and includes separate offices for the athletic performance staffs of the men s and women s basketball teams. UCLA s facility also features separate conference rooms for the men s and women s basketball teams that each overlook their respective courts. The Mo Ostin Basketball Center includes locker rooms for the student-athletes, a film room, an equipment room, a training room, a nutrition center, an alumni locker room and locker rooms for the coaching staffs. Portions of the facility s hallways include By the Numbers displays and an Under Armour uniform presentation. Adjacent to both courts is a Champions Plaza patio with a wall that honors student-athletes from past men s and women s teams.
