ON THE ROAD The Bruins will play at Colorado on Thursday evening, having closed their home schedule last Thursday night with a overtime win versus USC. Colorado has won its last three matchups against UCLA, including an win over the Bruins in Pauley Pavilion presented by Wescom on Thursday, Feb. 6. UCLA is seeking its first win at Colorado since the school year. In all, UCLA has gone 3-8 away from home this season, with a 3-4 record in seven Pac-12 road contests. LAST WEEK S VICTORY Five Bruins scored in double figures last Thursday night, as UCLA downed USC in overtime, Jaylen Hands finished with a team-leading 21 points, connecting on 5-of-10 shots from 3-point range. Kris Wilkes had 16 points, eight rebounds and five assists, while Moses Brown logged his team-leading ninth double-double of the season (10 points, 14 rebounds). UCLA shot nearly 48 percent from the field, draining 11 of 30 shots from 3-point territory in the overtime victory. UCLA DEFEATS OREGON, Jaylen Hands scored all of his game-high 27 points in the second half to lead UCLA past Oregon, 90-83, on Saturday, Feb. 23. The Bruins trailed by 16 points at halftime (44-28) and by as many as 19 early in the second half (47-28) before using a 27-6 scoring run over the next 7:30 to lead, 55-53, with 10:36 to play. UCLA outscored the Ducks in the second half, 62-39, marking the Bruins highest-scoring half all season. Kris Wilkes and Jules Bernard each totaled 20 points. HALFTIME DEFICIT: UCLA erased a 16-point halftime deficit (44-28) in the home victory against Oregon. That marked the largest halftime deficit the Bruins had overcome since Jan. 29, 2005, when UCLA downed crosstown rival USC at the Los Angeles Sports Arena, 72-69, after having trailed by 18 points at the break (USC led, 43-25). HOT HANDS: Jaylen Hands 27-point second half marked the most points in one half by a UCLA player since Feb. 10, 2005, when Dijon Thompson scored 27 of his 39 points in the first half against Arizona State (UCLA won, 95-76, in Pauley Pavilion). Hands seven 3-pointers, on 10 attempts, tied the school record for most 3-pointers made in one half. THE LATEST ABOUT UCLA The Bruins have just two regular-season games to play at Colorado (March 7) and at Utah (March 9). Sophomore Jaylen Hands has averaged a team-leading 20.2 points in the last five games (47.2% from 3-point range). Freshman Jules Bernard has scored in double figures in six of the past seven games (career-high 20 points vs. Oregon). Sophomore Kris Wilkes, UCLA s leading scorer (17.1 ppg), has scored in double figures in 27 of 29 games this season. ROLLER COASTER UCLA has overcome deficits of 19 points (Feb. 23) and 17 points (Jan. 10) in the second half against Oregon this season. Back on Jan. 10, UCLA trailed by nine points in the game s final minute, tying the contest at to force overtime. Conversely, UCLA saw a 22-point lead with 12:10 to play in the second half fade away against Utah on Feb. 9. Trailing 92-90, Utah s Parker Van Dyke nailed a buzzer-beating 3-pointer to give the Runnin Utes a dramatic win at UCLA. SCORING AND REBOUNDING UCLA ranks No. 1 in the Pac-12 in scoring (78.6 ppg) and rebounding (41.4 rpg), through games played on Sunday, March 3. In addition, the Bruins ranked No. 8 in rebounding and No. 33 in rebounding margin, through Sunday s game. Bruins freshman Moses Brown (10.5 ppg, 8.7 rpg) currently ranks fourth in the league in rebounding, first in offensive boards per game (3.6), and third in blocks per game (1.9) and overall field goal percentage (62.7%). ASSIST LEADER Jaylen Hands secured Pac-12 Player of the Week honors on Monday, after having led the Bruins with 21 points in the win over USC (Feb. 28). Hands continues to lead all Pac-12 players in total assists (189) and assists per game (6.5). Hands (13.8 ppg, 6.5 apg) ranks fourth in the league in assist-turnover ratio (2.2-to-1), through games played Sunday, March 3. He has recorded at least nine assists in eight games and tallied 10 (or more) assists in three consecutive games in December. PAC-12 TOURNAMENT UCLA will travel to Las Vegas for the Pac-12 Tournament next week (scheduled for March 13-16). For the third straight season, the Pac-12 Tournament will take place at T-Mobile Arena. UCLA last won the tournament in March 2014, winning consecutive games against Stanford, Oregon and Arizona. Since that season, the Bruins have played in the semifinal round in 2015, 2017 and In all, UCLA has won the conference tournament four times (1987, 2006, 2008 and 2014). STANDING TALL Eight of UCLA s 17 players measure at least 6-foot-8. Freshman Moses Brown (7-foot-1) is the Bruins tallest player since the late Mike Lanier (7-foot-7) competed as a reserve for UCLA in and Redshirt junior Alex Olesinski and redshirt freshman Jalen Hill are 6-feet-10, while freshmen Shareef O Neal and Kenneth Nwuba, sophomore Chris Smith and redshirt freshman Cody Riley are 6-foot-9. Sophomore Kris Wilkes rounds out the list at 6-foot-8.

NEWS AND NOTES Eight of UCLA s primary 10 rotation players are either freshmen or sophomores... five of those student-athletes are freshmen (includes two redshirt freshmen), three are sophomores, and two are redshirt juniors. The Bruins have posted a 13-4 record this year when leading at halftime... those losses were against North Carolina in Las Vegas (Nov. 23) and versus Belmont (Dec. 15), Arizona State (Jan. 24) and Utah (Feb. 9) in Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins have gone 3-9 when trailing at halftime... the Bruins overcame a 19-point deficit with 19 minutes to play against Oregon (Feb. 23) and a 17-point deficit with just under seven minutes remaining at Oregon (Jan. 10). UCLA has attempted point shots this season, a single-season total that ranks No. 6 on the school s top-10 list... UCLA s 226 made 3-pointers ranks No. 7 on that top-10 list (the team made a school-record pointers). Kris Wilkes has scored in double figures in 27 of UCLA s 29 games... he leads all current UCLA players in most career points (949), career field goals made (341), career three-pointers made (116) and career free throws made (151). Moses Brown leads all Pac-12 players in offensive rebounds per game (3.6 o-rpg, 104 total offensive boards)... he secured a season-high seven offensive rebounds in wins against Purdue Fort Wayne (Nov. 6) and Saint Francis U (Nov. 16). Moses Brown became UCLA s first player with at least 19 points and 17 rebounds in his collegiate debut since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar (then Lew Alcindor) tallied a then-school-record 56 points and grabbed 21 rebounds on Dec. 3, Moses Brown had eight blocks in the team s win against Saint Francis U (Nov. 16)... since the school began to officially record blocks in , only three other players at UCLA have recorded at least eight blocks in one game. In Dec. 2018, Jaylen Hands became the first UCLA player with multiple games of at least 10 assists in the same season since Lonzo Ball finished his freshman year ( ) with seven games of at least 10 assists. Jalen Hill registered a season-best 20 rebounds in the team s victory over Presbyterian (Nov. 19)... that marked the highest single-game rebound total by a Bruin since Kevin Love had 21 rebounds at Oregon State on Jan. 26, UCLA tallied a season-high 14 three-pointers in the team s comeback victory against Oregon (Feb. 23), going 14-for-22 from long distance... Jaylen Hands led the effort by shooting 7-for-10 from 3-point range that evening. In the Bruins overtime win against USC (Feb. 28), the Trojans set records for the most 3-pointers attempted in one game against UCLA (50) and the most 3-pointers made in a game versus the Bruins (19). BROWN BLOCKING SHOTS Moses Brown currently is tied for the No. 8 spot on UCLA s single-season blocked shots list (56 blocks, tied with Kevin Love in ). Jelani McCoy, a three-year star for the Bruins ( ), registered a school record 102 blocks as a freshman in , one year after the Bruins captured their 11th NCAA Championship. Brown stands just five blocks shy of moving into a tie for the No. 4 slot on UCLA s singleseason blocked shots list. Brown s 56 blocks are the most by a UCLA freshman since McCoy had 102 in SINGLETON MOVES UP David Singleton currently qualifies (just above the minimum) among single-season 3-point percentage leaders, having made 30 of 62 attempts in 29 games (must have made an average of 1.0 three-pointers, per games played). Singleton s 48.4 percentage from 3-point distance currently stands as the highest percentage ever by a UCLA freshman (Jason Kapono shot 47.4% in ). The 6-foot-6 guard from Los Angeles has averaged 7.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per game (all 29 games, playing off the bench), but has registered 13.3 points per game in the Bruins last seven contests. In those seven games, Bernard has shot a blistering 60.4 percent (29-for-48) from the field and 44.4 percent (8-or-18) from 3-point range. In addition, he has been UCLA s third-leading scorer through those last seven games. MORE ABOUT MOSES Moses Brown is on pace to become the fourth UCLA freshman in seven seasons to lead the team in rebounds (currently with 251 total rebounds, averaging 8.7 rebounds per game). TJ Leaf (287, 8.2 rpg) led the team in total rebounds as a freshman in , while Kevon Looney (331, 9.2 rpg) finished the season as UCLA s most prolific rebounder. As a freshman in , Kyle Anderson led the squad with 302 rebounds (averaging 8.6 per game). Brown s rebounding average (8.7 rpg) is the best by a UCLA freshman since Looney registered a team-high 9.2 rebounds per game in STREAKING UCLA has made at least one 3-pointer played in its last 651 games. That 3-point streak began after the Bruins went 0-for- 14 from 3-point territory in a loss at No. 2-ranked Stanford on Feb. 3, 2000 (Maples Pavilion). UCLA has made at least three 3-pointers in 198 of 203 games since the start of the season. The Bruins made a school single-gamerecord 19 three-pointers (on 31 attempts) at Colorado on Jan. 12, 2017 (UCLA won that game, ). INACTIVE FOR UCLA True freshmen Shareef O Neal and Tyger Campbell will not play for the Bruins this season. O Neal is recovering from a heart procedure (Dec. 2018). Campbell sustained a torn ACL in his left knee during practice on Oct. 7, 2018.

4 SHOOTING OVER 50 PERCENT UCLA has gone 9-1 when shooting at least 50 percent from the field. In the seven of the team s Pac-12 games, UCLA has shot at least 50 percent (going 6-1 in those contests). The Bruins shot a season-best 58.8 percent in a win at Washington State (87-67) on Jan. 30. When UCLA s opponents have shot at least 50 percent, the Bruins have gone 2-4 (wins versus Oregon State on Feb. 21 and Oregon on Feb. 23; losses vs. Michigan State on Nov. 22, at Cincinnati on Dec. 19, vs. Colorado on Feb. 6, and at Stanford on Feb. 16). UCLA has shot better than 55 percent in four games (3-1 record). THE BRUINS WHEN... Since the start of the season, UCLA has gone when leading at halftime (spanning 203 games). During that span, the Bruins have gone when trailing at halftime (3-5 when tied at the break). In UCLA s overtime win at Oregon (Jan. 10), the Bruins trailed with 58 seconds to play. UCLA used a 15-6 scoring run to tie the game, 80-80, by the end of regulation before securing an overtime win. The Bruins trailed by as many as 17 points in the second half (65-48, at 6:53) and were down by 13 (72-59) at the 2:31 mark. That comeback marked the largest deficit overcome in the final minute of a Pac-12 game and tied the sixth-largest deficit overcome in the final minute in NCAA Division I history (according to ESPN Stats & Info). UCLA overcame a nine-point halftime deficit at California (UCLA trailed, 34-25, on Feb. 13). In addition, the Bruins were down in that game by 11 points early in the second half. OPPONENT, LARGEST COMEBACKS (in ): Utah defeated UCLA, 93-92, on Saturday, Feb. 9, after having erased a 22-point deficit in the second half against the Bruins in Pauley Pavilion. UCLA led by 17 points at halftime and pushed its advantage to 22 points (69-47) with 12:10 to play. From that point, Utah outscored the Bruins by a margin. Parker Van Dyke nailed a game-winning 3-pointer as the buzzer sounded to help the Utes secure the one-point win. Earlier in the season, UCLA led Belmont by 12 points (in both the first and second halves), before Belmont secured a victory (Dec. 15, 2018). UCLA maintained a 12-point cushion, at 57-45, with 15:02 to play in the second half. GLANCING BACK AT UCLA S LARGEST COMEBACK (in ): The Bruins overcame a 14-point deficit with 17:11 to play in the second half in the team s victory against Washington (Dec. 31). Trailing by a margin, the Bruins used a scoring run over the game s final 17:11 to earn the victory. In fact, Washington led the Bruins, 52-48, with just over eight minutes to go. Over the last seven minutes, UCLA outscored Washington by a 26-1 margin to coast to a 21-point victory. Earlier in the season, UCLA had overcome a 12-point deficit in the win against Wisconsin (Nov. 21). Wisconsin built a cushion with 1:51 to play in the first half before UCLA closed the gap to just seven points by halftime (38-31). OPPONENT, LARGEST COMEBACK (in ): UCLA surged ahead by 15 points in the second half at Michigan (Dec. 9), leading with 14:48 to play after a three-pointer by Aaron Holiday. The 15-point cushion fell to two (60-58) at the 4:06 mark. Michigan trailed, 64-61, with less than 30 seconds to play but tied the contest, 65-65, in the final 10 seconds. COMMITTED AND SIGNED UCLA has two high school commitments Jaime Jaquez and Jake Kyman who have signed National Letters of Intent to play for the Bruins as freshmen in Jaquez is in his senior season at Camarillo High School (Camarillo, Calif.) and Kyman is currently a senior at Santa Margarita Catholic High School (Rancho Santa Margarita, Calif.). Last season, Jaquez averaged 31.0 points and 12.8 rebounds per game for Camarillo. The 6-foot-7, 215-pound guard has been ranked as high as No. 71 in the nation in his high school class by ESPN.com. Kyman was a first-team Orange County Register all-county selection as a junior in He averaged 17.1 points and 6.5 rebounds per game as a junior at Santa Margarita. UCLA IN OVERTIME The Bruins have gone 3-0 in overtime this season, with Pac- 12 road victories at Oregon and California and a home win against USC. With approximately 35,000 gross square feet of space, the facility stands near Pauley Pavilion s southwest corner, along the south end of the Los Angeles Tennis Center. The Mo Ostin Basketball Center was designed by award-winning architectural design firm Kevin Daly Architects, in partnership with globally acclaimed high-performance design firm AECOM. The practice facility features two separate courts Russell Westbrook Court for the men s team and Ann Meyers Drysdale Court for the women s team. The building also houses the Kevin Love Athletic Performance Center, which is raised over the main entrance, has its own skylights and includes separate offices for the athletic performance staffs of the men s and women s basketball teams. UCLA s facility also features separate conference rooms for the men s and women s basketball teams that each overlook their respective courts. The Mo Ostin Basketball Center includes locker rooms for the student-athletes, a film room, an equipment room, a training room, a nutrition center, an alumni locker room and locker rooms for the coaching staffs. Portions of the facility s hallways include By the Numbers displays and an Under Armour uniform presentation. Adjacent to both courts is a Champions Plaza patio with a wall that honors student-athletes from past men s and women s teams. The Bruins state-of-the-art facility is named after legendary music industry executive and philanthropist Morris Mo Ostin, who generously committed $10 million to the project. The campaign marks the 22nd year of UCLA s partnership with AM 570 Fox Sports LA owner iheartmedia (formerly Clear Channel Communications). Bartow took over as USF s interim head coach midway through the year (Jan. 2017). Previously, Bartow had served as head coach at East Tennessee State ( ) and UAB ( ). Through 18 seasons as a collegiate head coach, Bartow guided his teams to nine postseason appearances and four NCAA Tournament berths. During those 18 seasons as head coach, Bartow amassed 327 career wins. Bartow was the head coach at East Tennessee State for 12 years ( through ). He finished with a overall record at ETSU, becoming the second winningest head coach in program history. As head coach at East Tennessee State, Bartow led the Buccaneers to a Southern Conference title in 2004, the Atlantic Sun Conference regular-season title in 2007 and back-to-back Atlantic Sun Tournament titles in 2009 and East Tennessee State advanced to the NCAA Tournament in 2004, 2009 and 2010 under Bartow s leadership. The Buccaneers earned their sixth postseason appearance in 11 seasons during the campaign, Bartow s 11th season as the program s head coach. ETSU s season included a 24-win campaign, as the Buccaneers recorded their highest RPI since 2004 and won key road contests against Mississippi State and Dayton. Bartow helped the Bucs overcome the tragic preseason death of rising sophomore Seth Coy and the loss of injured senior captain Mike Smith to win the Atlantic Sun s regular-season title and advance to the NCAA Tournament. ETSU had three players who earned Atlantic Sun All-Tournament Team acclaim prior to an NCAA Tournament contest against Kentucky. Bartow led East Tennessee State to another 20-win season in , as the Buccaneers went and captured at the Atlantic Sun Tournament title to earn the program s eighth all-time appearance in the NCAA Tournament. In , Bartow helped guide ETSU to one of the program s most successful seasons. The Buccaneers went and compiled a 16-2 record in Atlantic Sun play to win the regular-season conference title. ETSU advanced to the National Invitation Tournament (NIT). For the second time in four seasons, Bartow was honored as the Atlantic Sun Coach of the Year. During Bartow s first season at ETSU ( ), the Buccaneers came within one win of matching the program record for single-season victories, going 27-6 overall and finishing 15-1 in league play. The Bucs set a school record with a 16-game winning streak. ETSU finished in first place in the Southern Conference s North Division for the fourth consecutive season and won the league s regular-season title for the second time in four years. In addition, ETSU won the SoCon Tournament title for the second straight season and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Bartow was named the SoCon Coach of the Year in , an award voted upon by the league s head coaches and members of the media. Three players secured first-team All-SoCon Conference honors, including league MVP Zakee Wadood and Tim Smith, the conference tournament MVP. Prior to coaching at East Tennessee State, Bartow served as the head coach at UAB (Alabama-Birmingham) from through He helped the Blazers advance to the NCAA Tournament in 1999, before taking three teams at ETSU to the NCAA Tournament. Overall, Bartow s teams at UAB compiled a record of , including 48 victories in Conference USA action (second only to Bob Huggins at Cincinnati during that span). The Blazers twice enjoyed 20-win seasons under Bartow and secured NIT berths in 1997 and The son of former UCLA head coach Gene Bartow, Murry Bartow grew up around the game of basketball. His father, Gene, served as head coach at six college programs including UCLA for two seasons ( , ,) before concluding his coaching career as head coach for 18 seasons at UAB ( ). Murry Bartow and his late father, Gene, compiled 974 victories as head coaches (Gene with 647 and Murry with 327), which is the fifth-highest win total among father-son duos. FAMILY INFORMATION Bartow, 57, is married to the former Tammy Earley. The couple met at UAB, where she was a cheerleader, and has been married for 35 years. They have three sons Alec, Stephen and Connor and three daughters-in-law (Kacy, married to Alec; Carrie Mae, married to Stephen; and Brooke, married to Connor). They welcomed their first grandson, Gene, in Sept (son of Stephen and Carrie Mae). His late father, Gene, served as UCLA s head coach in and Gene Bartow compiled a 52-9 overall record in two seasons at UCLA, taking over the Bruins program after head coach John Wooden retired in 1975.
