Assist-To-Turnover Ratio - For the most part, Michigan State s turnovers are not coming from the point guards, as Drew Neitzel, Travis Walton and Kalin Lucas combine to average just 5.2 turnovers per game. Neitzel leads the Big Ten with a 3.24-to-1 assist-to-turnover ratio, while Walton ranks second at 2.52-to-1, and Lucas is seventh at 1.77-to-1. In fact, Neitzel ranks second in the nation in assist-to-turnover ratio, while Walton ranks 18th (as of Feb. 29). As a team, the Spartans rank second in the Big Ten in assist-to-turnover ratio (1.29) despite ranking eighth in the league in turnovers. Neitzel Finalist For Senior CLASS Award - Drew Neitzel is one of 10 finalists for the Lowe s Senior CLASS Award. The four primary areas of criteria include classroom, community, character and competition. Voting for the award runs through March 21. Spartan fans can vote for Neitzel at The fan balloting will be combined with votes from coaches, media and sponsors. Suton On The Glass - Goran Suton ranks second in the Big Ten in rebounding at 8.1 boards per contest, and third in offensive rebounds (2.89 orpg). In conference games, he ranks second in the league at 7.9 rpg. Earlier this season, Suton grabbed 20 caroms against Oakland, becoming the first Spartan since Kevin Willis in 1983 to record 20 boards in a game. Suton has led the team in rebounding in 16 games. He has nine games with double-figure rebounds and five more contests with nine boards. Suton leads the team with seven double-doubles. A Balanced Scoring Attack - Although just three Spartans are averaging double-figures in scoring (Raymar Morgan ; Drew Neitzel ; Kalin Lucas ), Michigan State can get scoring contributions from many different sources. Seven Spartans average at least 5.1 points per game, and nine Spartans have scored 10 or more points in a single game this season. Six different players have led MSU in scoring in a single game, including all three true freshmen. In conference play, three Spartans average double figures (Morgan ; Neitzel ; Lucas ). In 11 games, four or more Spartans have scored in double figures, as MSU is 11-0 in those contests. MSU s Block Party - Michigan State ranks third in the Big Ten with 4.46 blocks per contest (125 total blocks). Against San Jose State, the Spartans blocked a single-game school-record 13 shots. In , Michigan State blocked a school single-season record 162 shots. The 125 blocks rank third in the MSU single-season record books, eight behind the squad. Attacking The Offensive Glass - Michigan State grabs 40.7 percent of their own missed shots. As a point of comparison, no other league team is at 40 percent. The best percentage in Tom Izzo s head coaching career was the squad, which grabbed 47.1 percent of its misses. In five games (Chicago State, ULM, Oakland, Bradley and BYU), the Spartans had more offensive rebounds than their opponent had defensive boards. MSU is averaging 12.9 offensive rebounds per game, and has recorded at least 10 offensive boards in 19 of the 27 contests, including four games with 20 or more offensive rebounds. MSU s X-Factor - Marquise Gray is a real X-factor for the Spartans in the sense that when he is productive, Michigan State will most always win. Gray has scored in double figures 14 times in his career, and the Spartans are 13-1 in those games. The lone loss came against North Carolina in the 2007 NCAA Tournament, where Gray tallied 11 points. In addition, MSU is 4-0 when Gray grabs 10 or more rebounds and 3-0 when he posts a double-double. Spartan Depth - Nine different Spartans are averaging 11.8 minutes or more. Drew Neitzel leads the Spartans at 31.2 minutes per game, four fewer than he averaged last season (35.7 mpg), when he played more minutes than any Spartan since 1991.

7 Green, Lucious and Roe will join MSU in the season... Spartans Sign Impressive Recruiting Class Michigan State men s basketball head coach Tom Izzo announced Wednesday that three players have signed National Letters of Intent to attend Michigan State next fall and play for the Spartan basketball team. The signees include Draymond Green (F, 6-7, 230, Saginaw, Mich./Saginaw), Korie Lucious (G, 5-10, 165, Milwaukee, Wis./St. Pius XI High School) and Delvon Roe (F, 6-8, 220, Lakewood, Ohio/St. Edward High School). I am very excited about this class, said Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo. You have three players that all have the potential to be Mr. Basketball in their respective states. In last year s class, we were looking for what our needs were. This year, we were not only looking to address our needs, but we were looking for some more basketball players. When you put these three together, you ve got a guard and a couple of swing guys that can play two or three positions. I really believe that in this class we have guys who know how to play the game, and they re not one-dimensional players. We ve now put together back-to-back recruiting classes with guys who can play the game and shoot the ball. They are guys that are going to take care of business on the court and off. Finally, I m happy with the job my assistants did in the recruiting process. Sometimes they don t get the credit they deserve. But the staff did a great job. Draymond Green (F, 6-7, 230, Saginaw, Mich./Saginaw) - Averaged 25 points, 13 rebounds, three assists and three steals as a junior... Led Saginaw High School to the Michigan Class A State Championship and a 26-1 record Detroit Free Press and The Detroit News Dream Team Member, the lone junior on the team... Shot 52 percent from the field and 73 percent from the foul line... First-team all-area and all-conference selection... Ranked the No. 98 player overall in the nation by Scout.com, including the No. 29 power forward... Rated the No. 77 player in the ESPN 150, including the No. 21 power forward... Averaged 12 points and 11 rebounds as a sophomore... Plays AAU basketball for the The Family, having previously played for the Michigan Mustangs... Plays for Coach Lou Dawkins at Saginaw High School. Izzo On Green: What attracted me to Draymond was that he has great hands and great skills. The other thing I like about him beside his versatility is that he played for a great high school coach in Lou Dawkins on a team that won a state championship. He has an understanding of how to win, and I think that is very, very important. I think he needs to get into the best shape of his life, and that will be taken care of. He was out for a period of time during the summer because of injury, which might have caused him to slip in the national rankings. We expect him, however, to be a very good player for us. Korie Lucious (G, 5-10, 165, Milwaukee, Wis./St. Pius XI High School) - Averaged 24.2 points, 5.4 assists, 4.3 steals and 2.6 rebounds as a junior at St. Pius XI High School, leading his team to a 19-4 record... Ranked the No. 90 player overall in the nation by Scout.com, including the No. 11 point guard... Rated the No. 85 player in the ESPN 150, including the No. 9 point guard... Attended Rufus King High School as a sophomore, averaging 12.1 points, 6.5 assists and 2.3 steals... Plays AAU basketball for DTA Wisconsin... Plays for Coach Joel Classen at St. Pius XI High School. Izzo On Lucious: In Korie Lucious, we knew we were going to be losing Drew Neitzel, and he s a guard that can do more than one thing. Even though he s only 5-10 in stature, he s one of the quickest ball-handling guards. And I think sometime in the future we can play him and Kalin Lucas at the same time, giving us an extremely quick backcourt. Korie is a guy who can really shot the ball. An extra benefit is that he has played against good competition and he s a winner, playing for a very good coach in Joel Classen. Delvon Roe (F, 6-8, 220, Lakewood, Ohio/St. Edward High School) Sporting News First- Team All-American EA Sports National Junior of the Year EA Sports All-America second team and Parade Magazine All-America fourth team... He took his team to the state semifinals last year, and he s a favorite to go back and win a state championship. He plays for another great high school coach in Eric Flannery, so he s been well-coached. He improved his three-point shooting a lot last year. He s kind of like a Raymar Morgan, but maybe more athletic in scoring around the basket. He s not quite as strong as Raymar is though, but he s similar. Delvon is a winner from the get-go, and he s really going to help us. On and off the court, he has the credentials to do great things.
