It was the second league honor for the freshman, who was named Co-Freshman of the Week (Nov. 27) after averaging 9.3 points, 8.3 rebounds and 1.3 blocks during the PK Invitational. Top-Ten Wins Michigan State beat a pair of Top-10 teams by 18 points in the span of a week No. 9 North Carolina (Nov. 26, 63-45) and No. 5 Notre Dame (Nov. 30, 81-63)... Winston scored a career-high 28 points in the win over UCONN in the second round. Defense Wins Championships One of the staples of Michigan State s win in the PK80 Invitational Victory Bracket was the team s defensive performance, limiting all three opponents to less than 40 percent shooting from the field in each game... In the championship game win over North Carolina, MSU held the Tar Heels to 24.6 percent shooting from the field, the lowest in program history for UNC... The 45 points scored by the Tar Heels were the second-lowest output by a Roy Williams-coached team at UNC... The Michigan State-Purdue men s basketball game on Feb. 10 in East Lansing will be the Jud Heathcote Tribute Game... Bridges Preseason Honors Sophomore Miles Bridges has received numerous preseason accolades heading into the season...
