Dunlap, who also became the 27th player in school history to chart 1,000 points in her career, led the Wildcats to their second-straight league road win by hitting 6-of-13 from the floor and 7-of-8 from the charity stripe. Freshman A dia Mathies followed with 13 points, six rebounds, three steals and three assists. Junior guard Carly Morrow netted a trio of threepointers and finished with 11 points. It was a back-and-forth battle through the first 30 minutes of the game with six ties and nine lead changes. However, Kentucky limited Mississippi State to two field goals over the final 8:02 while outscoring the Bulldogs The Wildcats made 11-of-13 free throw attempts during the stretch, including five from junior Amber Smith. UK shot just 32.1 percent (9-of-28) from the floor and committed an uncharacteristic 15 turnovers while forcing only 10. The second half was a different story as the Wildcats came out with a renewed energy, paced by their leader, Dunlap, who scored 14 of her 19 points after intermission. Mathies also was key to the victory as she added nine of her 13 points in the crucial second half, including a three-pointer that pushed UK s lead to with 3:31 remaining. In the second half, the Cats committed just three turnovers, outshot shot the Lady Bulldogs 44.4 percent (12-of-27) to 30.6 percent (11-of-36). Alexis Rack, the SEC s second-leading scorer, averaging 20.3 per game, was held to just 11 points on 4-of-23 shooting. Chanel Mokango led the Bulldogs with 17 points and three blocks. It marks just the second time in SEC history that one team has won all three of the top honors. Tennessee s Pat Summitt, Chamique Holdsclaw and Tamika Catchings also accomplished the feat in 1998 en route to its sixth NCAA Championship title. Dunlap receives the school s first Player of the Year nod after ranking in the top 10 of seven different SEC statistical categories. She is the only player in the league to rank in the top five in scoring (fifth ) and rebounding (third - 8.4), and she also ranks 13th nationally leads the SEC in steals (3.1), ranks fifth in blocks (1.9) and is seventh in field goal percentage (.490). Dunlap also was elected to the All-Defensive team and was a unanimous choice for first-team All- SEC. She is just the ninth player in school history to be named to the All-SEC first team and the first since Stacey Reed in Mathies, who Mitchell calls a difference marker, was named UK s first Freshman of the Year after following Dunlap in nearly every statistical category. She is averaging 12.8 points, 4.8 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game and is tied for 11th overall in scoring and third overall in steals (2.5) in the SEC. Mathies has scored in double figures in 22 of 30 games, including 11 of 16 league contests. All four of her 20-point scoring outings were against SEC competition. She ranks among UK s all-time freshman leaders in 11 categories, including setting a new school record for steals by a freshman with 74. The RPI (Rating Percentage Index) is a measure of strength of schedule and how a team does against that schedule. It does not consider things like margin of victory, only whether or not a team won and where the game was played. It is used by the NCAA as one of its factors in deciding which teams to invite to the NCAA Tournament and where to seed them. The basic formula is 25% team winning percentage (WP), 50% opponents average winning percentage (OWP), and 25% opponents opponents average winning percentage (OOWP). LACK OF HEIGHT NOT HURTING WILDCATS One of the biggest concerns entering this season was UK s lack of height. Only one player with significant minutes stands over 6-0 and that s junior forward Victoria Dunlap at 6-1. Despite the height disadvantage, the Wildcats holds a +1.2 rebounding margin overall. UK won the rebounding battle in 10 of 16 leagues games. The Cats are 16-0 overall this season when tying or outrebounding their opponent. CATS AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS IN TURNOVER MARGIN The Wildcats rank third nationally in turnover margin (+7.5), having forced an SEChigh 698 turnovers (the most since the squad forced a school-record 790) while committing only 472. We set a goal of selling 5,000 season tickets back in the spring because we were confident this team was going to be exciting to watch, Coach Matthew Mitchell said. We wanted to share our excitement with our fans so we set a lofty goal. We thank our fans so much for helping us reach this new school record. UK Hoops held five events during the summer and fall in a season ticket campaign called the Drive for 5K. The events included a 5K race on UK s campus, a special edition of a popular segment from The Matthew Mitchell Show called The Coach s Kitchen was held live at Fayette Mall, A Day in the Park with Matthew Mitchell, a season-ticket drive at Commonwealth Stadium prior to a home football game and UK Hoops Fan Day all helped drive the season-ticket sales. The Wildcats have ranked in the top-25 nationally and in the Southeastern Conference's top four in average attendance six-straight seasons. CATS PLAY NEW 16-GAME SEC SLATE The SEC adopted a new 16-game schedule for the first time in its 28-year women s basketball history. Although the women s teams will now play the same number of league games as the men, the women are not playing the traditional divisional schedule and will not have divisional standings. The system increased the existing 14-game schedule by adding an additional rotating team from the East and West divisions. Kentucky s permanent partner is South Carolina and for the next two seasons, UK will face Auburn and Arkansas as their Western home-and-home opponent. The Wildcats Eastern Division partners are Georgia and Vanderbilt. PINKETT ADDED TO ROSTER Head coach Matthew Mitchell announced the addition of Bernisha Pinkett (Washington, D.C.) to the Wildcat freshman class. Pinkett, who originally signed with the Wildcats last April, deferred her enrollment to the spring semester. She will be eligible immediately. The 5-7 guard was a four-year starter for Coach Frank Oliver at Howard D. Woodson High School in Washington, D.C. She was named Most Valuable Player of the D.C. Interscholastic Athletic Association last season and was a first-team All-Beltway selection in As a senior she averaged a team-high 24.1 points per game in helping the Warriors to a 22-6 overall record. She scored over 1,600 points during her prep career and netted a career-high 45 and 42 points in games last season. She also was instrumental in helping H.D. Woodson win back-to-back City Titles. Pinkett chose UK over N.C. State. KENTUCKY PICKED TO FINISH 11TH IN SEC The league coaches and media picked Kentucky to finish 11th in the Southeastern Conference race this season. In the closest vote

18 yet, Tennessee was predicted to win the Southeastern Conference women's basketball regular season championship over LSU by one vote by the coaches. The Lady Vols were 22-11, 9-5 in the SEC last season, while LSU finished 19-11, 10-4 in conference play. Mississippi State, Georgia, Vanderbilt and South Carolina round out the top half of the league with Florida, Auburn, Arkansas, Ole Miss, Kentucky and Alabama rounding out the lower half. DUNLAP NAMED PRESEASON ALL-SEC Junior Victoria Dunlap was named to the preseason All-Southeastern Conference season team as selected by league coaches. The 6-1 forward led the team in scoring (12.8 points per game), field goal percentage (.482 percent), rebounding (9.1 rebounds per game), steals (57) and blocks (38) last season. Her rebounding mark was second in the league and she charted 10 double-doubles (points/rebounds) which also ranked second. Dunlap was named to the SEC-All Freshman Team in and also was an All- SEC second team selection by the league coaches and The Associated Press last season. This is the sixth-annual preseason All-SEC team for women's basketball. The Wildcats have placed a member on a preseason all-sec team in each of the six years.

So it s no surprise that in just three seasons, he has used these tools to build a program that is quickly ascending back into the national spotlight. In his first two seasons, the Wildcats advanced a back-to-back postseason tournaments, defeated four nationally-ranked teams, including upsets over perennial powers Georgia and Tennessee, had six players receive All-SEC accolades, had five SEC Academic Honor Roll members, one SEC Scholar Athlete of the Year, and all six players in their final season of eligibility received their degree. Year Three has proven to be the best yet as Mitchell was named SEC Coach of the Year for his remarkable job in turning around a team that went overall, 5-9 in conference play last season to a 23-6 overall record and on the brink of its first NCAA Tournament appearance since The Cats' 11 SEC wins are a school record. Playing the 14th-toughest schedule in the nation, including meeting NCAA Champion Tennessee twice and Final Four participant LSU three times, Mitchell led the Wildcats to a school-record fourth consecutive postseason tournament in just his first season. UK posted a overall record, the Cats fourth consecutive winning season, and finished fourth in the ever-tough Southeastern Conference race with an 8-6 mark, just one win shy of the school record.
