The league is 33-8 (.805) through four weeks of play. The Big 12 could arguably be called the league of the quarterback with the performances it has received from its signal callers this season. Ten are among the top 21 nationally in passing effi ciency, including six in the top 10: 2. Sam Bradford (OU), 214.4; 3. Colt McCoy (UT), 206.5; 4. Chase Daniel (MU), 193.4; 8. Zac Robinson (OSU), 179.2; 9. Robert Griffi n (BU), 171.3; 10. Josh Freeman (KSU), 170.5; 18. Jerrod Johnson (TAMU), 157.5; 19. Joe Ganz (NU), 155.0; 20. Todd Reesing (KU), 154.4; 21. Graham Harrell (TTU), The current 12 starters are 816-1, (68.6%) for 10,704 yards and 98 touchdowns. Six of the top 10 FBS teams in scoring reside in the Big 12: 1. Oklahoma (54.67), 2. Missouri (53.75), 5. Oklahoma State (50.67), 6. Texas (48.67), 7. Kansas State (47.67), 8. Texas Tech (45.75). Through four weeks, conference teams have scored 203 touchdowns from scrimmage. Of those scoring drives, 90 have taken two minutes or less. Four Big 12 teams are ranked in the Top 10 of both national polls for the fi rst time since the fi nal 2007 ratings. Five squads continue to be ranked, all 18th or better, with No. 2 Oklahoma leading the conference contingent. Kansas is fi fth with 12 consecutive victories at home while Missouri is tied for sixth with 10. Non-Conference Schedule The non-conference portion of the 2008 Big 12 schedule features fi ve tilts against teams that were ranked in the preseason Top 25 polls. Fourteen of the 48 non-conference games are against teams that played in a bowl game last season. The league has compiled a (.710) non-conference record since 1996 and is 33-8 in Big 12 Launches Redesigned Web Site A completely redesigned debuted on August 1, The updated web presence was launched by the league in conjunction with JumpTV Sports, the conference s new internet provider. The site features numerous enhancements, including a broadband video channel along with new interactive and e-commerce opportunities. Video highlights from many Big 12 contests will be featured, with various games and championships streamed live via the site each season. CollegePressBox.com The offi cial media site for Big 12 football will provide one-stop access to updated contact information, media guides, game notes, game books, quotes, links and more for each of the conference s 12 schools and the conference offi ce. Media should contact Big 12 Communications for a user name and password. 13th Annual Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championship For the fifth time in league history the Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championship game will be held in Kansas City. The 2008 game takes place on Saturday, December 6, at Arrowhead Stadium. Previous Big 12 Championship games staged in Kansas City were in 2000 (79,665), 2003 (79,451), 2004 (62,130) and 2006 (80,031). In 2008, the South representative will be the home team and utilize the sideline on the press box side of the fi eld. General public tickets are priced at $85, $75, $65 and $55, plus handling fees. Tickets are available through Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com or (800) in addition to in-person at Arrowhead Stadium. Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship Winners In the 12-year history of the event, there have been six different winners. All-time titlists include Texas (1996, 2005), Nebraska (1997, 1999), Texas A&M (1998), Oklahoma (2000, 2002, 2004,2006, 2007), Colorado (2001) and Kansas State (2003). Attendance Attendance in the Big 12 surpassed 4.6 million fans the past two seasons, including 4,652,267 in Stadiums in the Big 12 were fi lled to 96.6 percent of capacity last year, the ninth straight year over 90 percent. Average attendance in 2007 was 60,419, the highest in league history and fi rst time to average over 60,000. Big 12 Media Preseason Poll Media covering the conference have correctly predicted the division champions in four of the last six seasons (OU/NU-06, UT/CU-05; OU/KSU-03, CU/OU-02). Iowa State Baylor Satellite Radio The Big 12 has partnered with XM Satellite Radio for the broadcast of select football games, men s and women s basketball games, plus the Dr Pepper football championship and Phillips 66 basketball tournaments. Each of the league s institutions also have satellite radio agreements in place this football season. Big 12 Showcase returns for its 13th season on FSN. New to the lineup in is Big 12 This Week, a dedicated show on ESPNU. Check local listings for dates and times. Television Partners ABC is in its 13th season as the conference s national network television partner. The Big 12 also continues its long-standing relationship with FSN for its cable rights. FSN has sublicensed select television games in 2008 to ESPN and Versus.

3 Big 12 Football September 22, 2008 Week 5 Release Page 3 BAYLOR (2-2, 0-0) This Week: Open Next Week: Oklahoma Baylor has rushed for 100-plus yards in three straight games for the fi rst time since a fi ve-game run to open the 2005 season. LB Joe Pawelek recorded 10 tackle assists against UConn and has a career mark of 136, tying James Francis ( ) for ninth on Baylor s all-time list. With 13 total tackles, he also posted the ninth double-digit tackle game of his career, including in all four games this season. WR Kendall Wright established career highs with six receptions and 114 receiving yards. He also recorded his fi rst career touchdown reception. TE Justin Akers caught two touchdown passes for the second time in his career (Rice, 2007). IOWA STATE (2-2, 0-0) This Week: Open Next Week: Kansas COLORADO (3-0, 0-0) This Week: at Florida State Next Week: Texas Colorado is 3-0 for the fi rst time since 2004, and just the second time since a 5-0 start in Dan Hawkins teams are now 8-1 following a bye week. Colorado has 42 wins over ranked teams dating back to 1989, the eighth most in the nation during this time frame. The Buffaloes have scored in 238 consecutive games, adding to the fourth longest active streak in the nation and nineth longest all-time. TB Rodney Stewart set a school record for most rushing yards in a game by a freshman with 166. Aric Goodman hit the third game-winning fi eld goal of his career to earn Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week. KANSAS (3-1, 0-0) This Week: Open Next Week: at Iowa State Iowa State played the fi rst overtime game of Gene Chizik s career after coming back from a 21-point halftime defi cit to force the extra period. QB Austen Arnaud had a career high rushing night against UNLV with 10 rushes for 51 yards and two touchdowns. He also went 13-of-23 for 155 yards and two TDs through the air. The Cyclone offense didn t commit a turnover against the Rebels, giving ISU a +6 turnover margin for the season. The ISU defense has forced 13 turnovers through four games which is tied for third nationally, and fi ve shy of its 2007 season total. Grant Mahoney hit 4-of-4 extra points, making him a perfect 15-of-15 for the season on PATs. KANSAS STATE (2-1, 0-0) This Week: UL-Lafayette Next Week: Texas Tech KU improved its home win streak to 12 games, the fi fth-longest streak in the nation. QB Todd Reesing threw for 356 yards and two touchdowns, marking his third-straight game of 350-plus passing yards this season. He also broke the school record for most 200-yard passing games with 14 for his career, including all four games this season. Kansas defense allowed a season-low 45 rushing yards on 16 attempts as KU outgained SHSU 528 to 385 in total offense. Junior Kerry Meier had eight catches for a career-high 136 receiving yards. Reesing s 68-yard pass to Meir in the first half was the longest for KU this season and the second-longest in the last four years. MISSOURI (4-0, 0-0) This Week: Open Next Week: at Nebraska QB Josh Freeman moved into second in KSU s career pass attempts with 856 and fi fth in passing touchdowns with 32. Freeman s 22 completions at Louisville set a K-State career record with 512 passes in his two-plus seasons, passing Lynn Dickey s 501 mark ( ). Deon Murphy s 86-yard punt return for a touchdown in the third quarter was the eighth-longest return in school history, and his second-career return for a touchdown. Murphy s return also marked the 16th special teams score and 20th non-offensive touchdown under head coach Ron Prince. K-State s non-offensive touchdown total is 64 since 1999, currently the secondmost in the nation. The Wildcats are one of seven teams in the country that have yet to surrender a sack this season. QB Chase Daniel set a career high with 439 passing yards vs. Buffalo and completed 36-of-43 passing attempts. His 83.7 completion percentage is the highest in school history. Daniel set a Big 12 single game record with 20 consecutive completions. He is the fifth player in conference history to amass 10,000 career yards of total offense. He now has 10,356 yards in total offense with 9,592 yards passing and 764 yards rushing. MU s defense held UB to 49 yards on the ground on 35 attempts. Before Saturday s game, Buffalo had averaged 163 rushing yards per contest. Daniel was named Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week while Sean Weatherspoon got the nod for Defensive Player of the Week after making 20 tackles, including three for loss.

Bo Pelini is 4-0 as the Huskers head coach, tying him with Tom Osborne for the fi fth-best start for an NU head coach. Senior I-back Marlon Lucky carried the ball 15 times for 103 yards and two TDs vs. NMSU, his eighth career 100-yard rushing game. He is the 24th player in school history to rush for 2,000+ career yards. Quarterback Joe Ganz became the third player in school history to have touchdowns by rushing (69 yards), receiving (20 yards) and passing (158 yards) in a single contest. OKLAHOMA STATE (3-0, 0-0) This Week: Troy Next Week: Texas A&M With the win over Houston and a win over Missouri State, Oklahoma State eclipsed the 50-point mark in consecutive games for the fi rst time since The MSU game marked the second time in school history that OSU had three players rush for more than 100 yards in a single game - Kendall Hunter (132), Keith Toston (148) and Beau Johnson (138). On the year, OSU has turned in 10 scoring drives of two minutes or less. The Cowboys are the only conference team with a player averaging over 100 yards in rushing (Kendall Hunter, ypg) and receiving (Dez Bryan, ypg). TEXAS A&M (1-2, 0-0) This Week: Army Next Week: at Oklahoma State With Bob Stoops 100th career win, OU became the only school in the nation with four coaches to reach 100 victories. Stoops joined Bennie Owen, Bud Wilkinson and Barry Switzer. Oklahoma has reached the 500-yard mark in the total offense category in two straight games with 591 yards at Washington State after compiling 592 yards against Cincinnati. The Sooners have eclipsed the 50-point mark eight times with QB Sam Bradford under center, a span of 17 games. Bradford currently leads the conference in pass effi ciency (214.4) with 882 yards and 12 touchdowns on the season. TEXAS (3-0, 0-0) This Week: Arkansas Next Week: at Colorado In the win over Rice, Texas had 600 yards of total offense for the 19th time in school history and the ninth time under head coach Mack Brown. The team eclipsed the 200-yard mark in both rushing and passing for the second time this season, 42nd time overall. Colt McCoy passed for four touchdowns, giving him a school record 62 for his career. He finished with 329 yards on 19-of-23 passing and led UT in rushing for the second time this season with 83 yards on eight carries. The Longhorns held Rice to 17 yards rushing, marking the 17th time in school history an opponent has gained less than 20 yards on the ground. With Quan Cosby s 154 yards against UTEP and Jordan Shipley s 155 yards against Rice, Texas had a player log over 150 receiving yards in consecutive games for the first time since TEXAS TECH (4-0, 0-0) This Week: Open Next Week: at Kansas State Jerrod Johnson s 275 yards on 19-of-32 passing against Miami were a school record for a quarterback in his starting debut. He also became only the fourth quarterback in school history to throw three touchdown passes in consecutive games. Senior Michael Bennet currently leads conference linemen in tackles with 18, including 11 solo and 7 assisted. He is also tied for first in fumble recoveries (2) with OU s Brian Jackson. Justin Brantley leads the league s punters averaging 46 yards per kick. He has 13 punts for a total 598 yards, including a season-long 61-yarder. A&M is 5-15 in games when it doesn t win the turnover advantage dating back to the start of the 2005 season. Texas Tech has won 11 straight non-conference contests and has a six-game win streak dating back to last season. QB Graham Harrell posted another 300-yard passing performance going 27-for-34 with 322 yards and four TDs. With 12,225 career passing yards, he needs 205 to eclipse Kliff Kingsbury s ( ) conference and school record of 12,429 yards. Harrell is one of seven players in NCAA history to complete more than 100 touchdown passes in a career. He currently has 101. Shannon Woods 108 rushing yards marked the fi rst 100-yard rushing game by a Red Raider since he accomplished the mark in Tech s 42 first half points were the most since scoring 42 in the opening period against Southeast Louisiana in 2006.
