This season s event will take place at the Alamodome, the third time the venue has hosted the contest. Oklahoma (2006, 04, 03, 02, 00) is playing in its sixth Big 12 title game, while Missouri is making its first appearance. Oklahoma s six appearances are the most in league history. The Sooners have represented the South Division in four of the last five contests. In their meeting on October 13 this season, Oklahoma defeated Missouri, 41-31, in Norman, Okla. This marks the sixth time that the championship game participants have played during the regular season. The previous five rematch games between teams were in 1999 (Nebraska-Texas), 2000 (Kansas State-Oklahoma), 2001 (Colorado-Texas), 2002 (Colorado- Oklahoma) and 2005 (Colorado-Texas). Missouri s current No. 1 ranking is the first in school history. Oklahoma won its fourth Big 12 Championship game last year. The four conference title games won by the Sooners are the most in league history. The South Division has an edge in the previous 11 title contests, holding a 7-4 advantage. North and South teams alternated wins in the first eight years of the game with the South winning each of the last three contests. The designated home team in each of the first six Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship games ( ) was the winning squad. The visiting team has won three of the last five contests. The Tigers are the home team for this year s title event. The Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship game has been held at five different sites in its history. San Antonio s Alamodome is hosting for the third time, the second most to Kansas City s Arrowhead Stadium, which has hosted four times. At least one participant in the Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championship game has been ranked among the top eight nationally in either the Associated Press or USA TODAY national polls in the game s 12- year history. Missouri is No. 1 & 2 and Oklahoma is No. 8 & 9 in the polls this year. Twenty-one of the 24 squads in the championship contest have been ranked at the time of the engagement. In addition, Texas jumped from unranked to No. 20 in the next AP survey after upsetting then- No. 3 Nebraska, 37-27, at St. Louis in In the Sooners five previous Big 12 Championship appearances, they have never played at the Alamodome in San Antonio. They have played at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., four times and once at Reliant Stadium in Houston, Texas.

Last year the media accurately predicted Oklahoma to win the South and Nebraska to capture the North. From teams from the Big 12 played in the title game five times during the six-year span. Since the inception of the BCS, the Big 12 is 2-3 in the National Championship Game. Texas (2005) and Oklahoma (2000) have won titles, while Nebraska (2001) and Oklahoma (2003, 04) were denied crowns. FS Jordan Lake recorded six double-digit tackle games in He had 120 tackles, the most by a Baylor player since Maurice Lane had 129 in QB Blake Szymanski established a Baylor single-season record for touchdowns responsibility with 23 (22 passing, 1 rushing). Iowa State (3-9, 2-6) End of Season Colorado has scored in 234 straight games, the fifth-longest active streak in the NCAA and the ninth-longest all-time. The Buffs have scored in 150 consecutive league games. Jordon Dizon moved up to second in the nation and continues to rank first in the Big 12 in tackles with 12.4 a game. Hugh Charles has 2,659 rushing yards for sixth all-time at CU. He is the second player in school history with 2,500 yards rushing (2,659) and 500 receiving (552) in a CU career. Cody Hawkins 424 attempts this season set a school record and his 239 completions are the second-most in school history. His 2,693 yards are tied for third-most at CU. He has a current streak of 70 pass attempts without an interception. KANSAS (11-1, 7-1) Next: Bowl Game Bret Meyer ends his career ranked third all-time on the Big 12 career charts in total offense (10,422), total plays (1,923) and passing yards (9,499). Wide receiver Todd Blythe finishes his career with three of the 10 top single season totals in school history. Blythe s 31 career TD catches ties for third in Big 12 history. Blythe completed his career with 176 catches for 3,096 yards, both school records. Bret Culbertson closed his career 100-for-100 in PATs and became the second player in ISU history with 100 career PATs. Culbertson s 214 career points ties for fifth all-time at Iowa State. R.J. Sumrall moved into ninth place on the Iowa State career chart with 99 receptions. Kansas State (5-7, 3-5) End of Season Kansas has 11 wins in a season for the first time in school history and claimed a share of its first Big 12 North Division title. Todd Reesing set the Kansas single-season record for passing yards, currently at 3,259. Reesing s two TD passes vs. Missouri moved him into a tie for the KU all-time career touchdown pass list with 35. He is tied with David Jaynes who had 35 from Reesing s 213 consecutive pass attempts without an interception set the Big 12 season record (previous mark was 205 by Reggie McNeal of Texas A&M in 2004). The Jayhawks are second nationally in scoring offense (44.3) and fourth in scoring defense (16.0). Missouri (11-1, 7-1) Next: Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship Jordy Nelson is second nationally in receptions (10.7) and receiving yards (133.8) per game, trailing Michael Crabtree of Texas Tech. Nelson concluded his K-State career second in career receptions (206), second in career receiving yards (2,822) and third in touchdown receptions (20). Josh Freeman finished his sophomore campaign with a single-season record 3,353 yards. Freeman s 5,133 career passing yards is fourth in school history. He is one of just five KSU quarterbacks to top the 5,000-yard mark in a career. James Johnson rushed for 1,106 yards in 2007, the first Wildcat to run for 1,000 yards since K-State has scored in 140 consecutive games. Missouri will make its first appearance in the Dr Pepper Big 12 Football Championship Game. Mizzou has won 11 games in a season for the first time in its history. Chase Daniel broke his own school record for total offense in a season with 4,029 yards in He also extended his own MU records for passing yards (3,951) and touchdown passes (33) in a season. Mizzou is fifth nationally in total offense (507.3 ypg), and is fifth in passing offense (336.8 ypg) and sixth in scoring offense (41.9 ppg). Daniel is second in the Big 12 and fourth nationally, averaging yards of total offense. The Mizzou defense has forced a turnover in 18 consecutive games.

WR Maurice Purify is the first player in Nebraska history to record three straight 100-yard receiving games. He had four 100-yard receiving games in 2007, tying the NU season record (Johnny Rodgers in 1971 and 1972). Junior I-back Marlon Lucky became the first player in Nebraska history to surpass 1,000 career rushing (1,876) and receiving (1,091) yards. Oklahoma State (6-6, 4-4) Next: Bowl Eligible Oklahoma will play in the Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship Game for the sixth time in the last eight seasons. OU has won the league title four times, including last year. Sam Bradford established an NCAA freshman record for touchdown passes with 32. Bradford remains first nationally in passing efficiency at Oklahoma leads the nation with its 30th 10-win season. Alabama is second with 28. Allen Patrick rushed 29 times for a career-high 202 yards and two touchdowns in the Sooners victory over Oklahoma State. Texas (9-3, 5-3) Next: Bowl Game With his 108-yard rushing effort at Oklahoma, Dantrell Savage topped the 100-yard rushing mark for the ninth consecutive game. Savage raised his season rushing total to 1,172 yards, the 12th-best singleseason total in OSU history. Zac Robinson s 2,522 passing yards is second on OSU s singleseason passing yardage list. His school-record, single-season total yardage is 3,299. Jacob Lacey s interception vs. Oklahoma was his fifth of the season, marking the most interceptions an OSU player has had in a season since Darrent Williams recorded six in Junior safety Ricky Price racked up a game-high 13 tackles against the Sooners, which also marked his career high. Jamaal Charles moved into fifth place on UT s single-season rushing list with 1,458 yards. Charles has rushed for 3,167 yards during his career and moved past Vince Young (3,127, ) for fifth place on UT s all-time list. Colt McCoy is the fourth QB in Texas history to throw for 3,000 yards in a season (3,129). He now stands in third place on UT s single-season passing list after moving past Vince Young (3,036, 2005). Quan Cosby s 91-yard kickoff return for a TD at Texas A&M was the first of his career and marked UT s first kickoff return TD since Brandon Foster s interception vs. A&M was his third of the season and of his career. After the 38-yard return, he now has 110 return yards on those three INTs. Texas A&M (7-5, 4-4) Next: Bowl Game Texas Tech (8-4, 4-4) Next: Bowl Game Texas A&M is second in the Big 12 and 13th nationally in rushing yards with a game. Junior Martellus Bennett set the school record for career receiving yards by an Aggie tight end. He has 1,200 yards on 101 career catches. The 101 career catches are just four behind the TE school record of 105. Bennett is the seventh Aggie in school history to surpass the 100-catch plateau. Junior Stephen McGee s 362 passing yards on 25-of-36 passing vs. Texas were a career high. His only other 300-yard passing game was 318 vs. Louisiana Tech in Senior Marquis Carpenter s third-quarter interception vs. Texas was his fourth of the year and the eighth of his career. Redshirt freshman Michael Crabtree leads the country in receptions (10.4) and receiving yards (155.1), and is sixth in scoring (10.5 ppg). Tech s win over third-ranked Oklahoma matches the highest-ranked opponent that Tech has defeated in school history. The Raiders beat No. 3-ranked Texas in Graham Harrell became the second quarterback in Tech history to throw for 5,000-plus yards in a single season, as he now has 5,298. Only six quarterbacks in NCAA history have reached the 5,000 yard mark in a single season. Alex Trlica set the NCAA career record for extra points made with 227. Trlica also holds the NCAA mark for career extra points without a miss.
