Derrick Henry averages 15 points a game and he can really shoot the ball. They run a lot of good sets for him. He can take it off the dribble, and he is a guy we need to pay attention to. Their bigs are talented and 6-foot-8 James Bourne is a lefty who is good around the basket. He has a good face up game and can put it on the fl oor and make moves. Overall, they play really hard and have some athletes. They are a lot better than their record, and they have been getting better. They played very tough at Ohio State, and the key was they made 10 3s. That really got them going and kept them in the game. Winthrop executed their offense really well against Ohio State. We are really going to have to shut them down offensively." (On Auburn's 3 game winning streak) "Our guys are getting better, our chemistry is getting better, defensively we are getting better and individually guys are getting better. When you win, you start to get confi dence as a team. That is what we are doing, and we want to continue building on that." (On Auburn's Jordan Price) "He has been shooting the ball unbelievable. As a scorer whenever you get on a roll like that, you get in that zone, and he is in one of those zones right now. He has been working hard in practice, and it has been paying off in the games." (On Auburn's Chris Denson and Auburn being 3-0 with him in the lineup) "Chris gives us another scorer and he can go get his own shot off the dribble. You have to pay attention to him defensively and that opens up a lot of openings for other guys to make plays. He knows what to expect. He is a veteran guy like AUBURN

5 Frankie and Chubb. He gives us that veteran leadership and that scoring punch offensively." LAST TIME OUT Auburn 81, Tennessee Tech (Dec. 18, 2012, in Auburn, Ala.) Chris Denson scored a season-high 20 points and had a highlight reel dunk, while Josh Wallace added a season-best 11 points with seven assists and three steals as Auburn defeated Tennessee Tech in Auburn Arena for its third-straight victory. Jordan Price scored 12 points off the bench and made all 3 three-point attempts to extend his streak to 11-straight 3-pointers made to tie the SEC mark set by Vanderbilt's Kevin Anglin in The NCAA record for consecutive made 3-pointers is 15 by Northwestern s Todd Leslie in Price scored 12 straight points for Auburn in 2:35 as the Tigers used a 12-2 run to take an 18-6 lead with 12:33 remaining in the first half. Denson s highlight play came with 6:38 remaining in the fi rst half. The 6-foot-2 junior guard took the feed from Allen Payne on the fast break and dunked over Tennessee Tech s Matt Marseille, was fouled and converted the free throw for a three-point play on the poster-worthy dunk that stretched Auburn s lead to The dunk was ESPN SportsCenter's No. 1 Play of the Day. The Columbus, Ga., native followed up with an acrobatic spinning 360-degree layup for a advantage at the break to cap a 12-3 run. Two free throws by Asauhn Dixon-Tatum gave Auburn a 20-point lead at with 10:35 left in the game. Two free throws by Denson widened the Tiger lead out to its largest at with less than seven minutes remaining as he capped a 13-0 run. LAST TIME vs. WINTHROP Auburn 64, Winthrop 62 (Dec. 29, 2005, in Auburn, Ala.) Freshman Korvotney Barber had the game-winning tip-in with 1.2 seconds remaining to lift Auburn to a dramatic come-from-behind to lift Auburn to a dramatic come-from-behind win over Winthrop in Beard-Eaves-Memorial Coliseum. With the score tied at 60, Frank Tolbert drove and his shot missed in the lane. Josh Dollard's follow fell off the rim with :02 left before Barber out-jumped the Winthrop defenders for his tip-in. Auburn trailed by as many as 13 with 18:25 to go in the game and rallied behind Rasheem Barrett's career-high 19 points, which included a span in the second half where he scored 14 straight for the Tigers. With Winthrop leading 58-57, Tolbert knocked down a three to give the Tigers their fi rst lead, 60-58, since the 5:21 mark of the fi rst half at The Eagles answered as Torrell Martin scored two of his teamhigh 19 points with 2:20 left to tie it at 60. Quantez Robertson scored his fi rst basket of the game as he exploited a seam in the Eagles' defense and made a layup to push the Tigers to a lead. Winthrop's James Shuler responded with a basket of his own with :38 left. Winthrop was led by Martin's 19 points and 10 rebounds. The Eagles had already won at Marquette earlier in the season and lost at Alabama. The building also provides improved facilities for the student-athletes, including men's and women's locker room suites with sports medicine facilities, lounges and team meeting rooms. Along with a strength and conditioning center, a two-court practice facility enables the team another practice areas. The arena has 12 luxury suites on the arena level that not only open inside the facility, but also opens on the outside of the arena for multiple entertaining opportunities throughout the year. 7 The seating confi guration offers better sight lines and moves fans closer to the court. The furthest seat is just 43 feet in elevation from courtside, compared to 60 feet in elevation at Beard-Eaves, with two-thirds of the seats in Auburn Arena being less than 27 feet in elevation from courtside. The scoreboard features a highdefi nition video board with full message/ information center technology. For the student fan amenities, there is a private entrance, a private courtside commons and food court and courtside seating that permits standing with unobstructed views. The new facility serves as more than a sports complex. With over 12,000 square feet of banquet/entertainment space, its design affords ready adaptation into a site for concerts, other cultural events, convocations and other community gatherings. On-campus student housing is adjacent to the new arena creating a unique "student village" experience FALL SIGNEES Ronald Delph, 7-0, 235, C Winter Haven, Fla. (IMG Academy) Ronald Delph is attending IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., after attending Lake Region High in Winter Haven, Fla., where he was a three-year starter. He averaged 10 points and 10 rebounds last season. In his fi rst game at IMG, Delph totaled 22 points and 12 rebounds where he made a big shot to tie the game late. Delph chose Auburn over Texas A&M, Cincinnati and Miami. Ronald Delph has tremendous upside as a 5-man at 7-foot, 235 pounds, said Barbee. He is extremely athletic with great skills in the post. He is a great shot blocker and a great rebounder and can do a lot of great things. He has the ability to step out on the fl oor and do some things on the perimeter and shoot the ball from three. Benas Griciunas, 7-0, 225, C Silute, Lithuania (Findlay Prep) Pronunciation: (Ben iss Gris see oon us) Benas Griciunas is in his third year attending Findlay Prep in Henderson, Nev., where the team has 12 Div. I players on its roster. The lefthander had 17 points off the bench vs. LA Prep on Nov. 9 and had seven points and seven boards vs. LA Prep a day later as he is playing only minutes per game. He chose Auburn over Georgia Tech, Boston College, St. Mary s and Washington State. I like what Benas brings, said Barbee. He is a multi-skilled big man at 6-foot-11, almost 7-foot, but he can shoot the ball. He is a really good passer, and he can handle the ball. He has a great feel in the post. He is left-handed, so he is a diffi cult matchup. Tahj Shamsid-Deen, 5-10, 162, G Decatur, Ga. (Columbia) Pronunciation: (Tahj (like Hodge) Sham syd -- Deen) Tahj Shamsid-Deen, who attends Columbia High School, is ranked No. 91 in the MaxPreps Class of Shamsid-Dean scored 41 points vs. Memphis East in the Memphis-Atlanta Challenge on Dec. 7 while going 17-of- 21 from the fi eld and 2-of-4 from 3-point range. In the next game, he scored 25 points in Columbia's win over Germantown on Dec. 8. He has helped lead Columbia to threestraight Class AAA state titles while compiling a 90-9 record. Last year s team went 31-1 and finished the season ranked 10th nationally. He is a two-time Atlanta Journal-Constitution Class AAA Player of the Year selection. He has a 3.9 GPA, averaged 14 points, 10 assists and three steals as a junior at Columbia last year. He chose Auburn over UCLA, UConn, Richmond and Northwestern. Tahj is a winner, said Barbee. He has great speed and great ball skills. He can really score the ball and shoot the ball from the point guard position. He comes from a winning program with three state championships in the state of Georgia Class AAA. Two-time Mr. Basketball in AAA basketball in Georgia, and we know how competitive basketball is in that state. I love the fact that he brings that winning background. Winning breeds winning. On top of that, he is a fantastic student. I am excited about Tahj joining our program. WHAT'S NEXT? Auburn plays against No. 10 Illinois (12-0) on Dec. 29 in Chicago's United Center at 1:15 pm Central. It will be televised on the Big Ten Network. The Fighting Illini have wins over Butler 78-61, at No. 10 Gonzaga 85-74, Georgia Tech 75-62, at AUBURN Auburn-Winthrop Game Notes -- page 7 Hawaii in overtime and USC and play No. 12 Missouri on Saturday in St. Louis prior to playing Auburn. Brandon Paul averages team-highs of 18.8 points and 5.1 rebounds per game while shooting 39.8 percent from 3-point range. D.J. Anderson adds 11.5 ppg and 34.9 percent 3-point shooting while Tracy Abrams chips in 11.5 ppg. Illinois averages 76.9 points per game and has a scoring margin and only turns the ball over 12.7 times per game. The Fighting Ilini shoots 45.4 percent from the fl oor, 38.6 percent from 3-point range and 70.5 from the foul line while 43.7 percent of Illinois' field goal attempts are from 3-point range. Illinois, under fi rst-year head coach John Groce, was a preseason 10th place pick in the Big Ten Conference by Blue Ribbon Basketball Yearbook.
