1 Issue Date: Tuesday, Dec. 25, 2007 BRONCOS HOST MINNESOTA IN REGULAR-SEASON FINALE The Denver Broncos (6-9) look to win their regular-season finale for the third time in the last four seasons on Sunday when they host the Minnesota Vikings (8-7). Kickoff at INVESCO Field at Mile High is set for 2:15 p.m. MST. Denver, which is coming off a 23-3 loss at San Diego on Monday Night Football, faces a Minnesota team that had its five-game winning streak snapped with a loss against Washington on Sunday. Playing their first-ever game at INVESCO Field at Mile High, the Vikings enter Sunday s contest needing a win and a Washington loss/tie or a tie coupled with a Washington loss to qualify for the postseason. The Broncos return home this week after concluding a stretch in which they played six of eight games on the road. Denver owns the NFL s third-best record at home in December since 1995 with a 20-4 (.833) mark in those games. Sunday s contest features two of the first five quarterbacks taken in the 2006 NFL Draft in Denver s Jay Cutler (1st Rd., 11th overall, Vanderbilt) and Minnesota s Tarvaris Jackson (2nd Rd., 64th overall, Alabama State). Cutler has guided Denver to a 3-0 record in regularseason games against teams whose starting quarterback was selected in last year s draft. He led Denver to wins against Vince Young (Tennessee) and Brodie Croyle (Kansas City) this year as well as Matt Leinart (Arizona) last season. Broncos wide receiver Brandon Marshall s 92 catches this year tie for the third most by a second-year player in NFL history. With Travis Henry (691 yds.) and undrafted rookie Selvin Young (642 yds.), Denver is one of four clubs in the league with two 600+yard rushers and ranks fifth in the NFL in yards per rush (4.5). Linebacker D.J. WIlliams 133 tackles lead the AFC and represent the second-highest total in the NFL. On special teams, Broncos kicker Jason Elam last week passed John Elway for the most regular-season games played (235) in club history and has made his last 13 field-goal attempts, a streak that ties for the third longest in franchise annals.
