2 JASON GARRETT (11-13, 2nd Year, overall) Jason Garrett was named the eighth head coach in Dallas Cowboys history on January 5, Garrett became the first former Dallas Cowboys player to become the team s head coach. As a backup quarterback during his playing career in Dallas, he started nine-of-23 games played and was a member of teams that won six division titles and three Super Bowl championships. Garrett was elevated to the Cowboys top job after taking over as the team s interim head coach at the midway through he guided the club to a 5-3 mark to finish the season after the team started 1-7. During his time as the interim head coach, three of Dallas wins were against teams that posted a 10-win season, while the three losses were decided by a combined total of seven points. he led Dallas to an 8-8 record, narrowly missing the playoffs and an NFC East Division title in his first full season as head coach in Since the 2007 season, Garrett has been the Cowboys offensive coordinator, and in 2008, he was assigned the additional duties of being the club s assistant head coach. Under Garrett, the Dallas offense has reached high levels of productivity in several categories, and the unit has finished among the NFL s top-10 in total offense in three of his four years: 2010 (10th), 2009 (2nd), and 2007 (2nd). From the start of the 2007 season, the club has averaged 24.6 points-per-game and total yards-per-outing. The team has set single-season records in a handful of categories, including topping 6,000 net yards for the first times in franchise history (2009-6,390 and ,008). HEAD COACHES ANDY REID ( , 14th Year) Andy Reid has been at the helm of the Philadelphia Eagles since 1999 and has earned NFL Coach of the year honors on two occassions. his win total (139), winning percentage (.601) and playoff win total (10) are good for tops in team history. he has won six division titles, five trips to the NFC Championship Game and, since he was hired, only the New England Patriots (eight) have earned more divisional playoff round appearances (seven) or conference championship appearances (five) than the Eagles. Reid is one-of-11 coaches in NFL history to win 60%-or-more of 200-plus games. In his 20-year NFL coaching career, Reid s teams have made the playoffs 15 times (19-14 record). he has coached in the Super Bowl three times, the NFC Championship Game nine times and the Pro Bowl five times. Reid became the 20th head coach in Philadelphia history on Jan. 11, 1999 and he also became the club s executive vice president of football operations in he earned his coach of the year honors in 2000 and Reid joined the Eagles after a seven-year stint ( ) as an assistant coach with the Green Bay Packers under Mike holmgren. With Green Bay, Reid helped the Packers earned a Super Bowl XXXI victory over New England. Prior to landing in the NFL, Reid coached collegiately at Brigham young (1982), San Francisco State ( ), Northern Arizona (1986), Texas-El Paso ( ) and Missouri ( ). he first met up with holmgren while both were at ByU when Reid was an offensive tackle and guard on three Cougar holiday Bowl teams. Reid graduated with a bachelor s degree in physical education and later earned his master s in professional leadership in physical education and athletics. Giants three times, along with Atlanta, the St. Louis Cardinals and San Francisco. Dallas first Nov. 11 game was in 1962 against the N.y. Giants. Its last was in 2007, at the N.y. Giants. PHILADELPHIA LAST WEEK The Philadelphia Eagles fell in New Orleans on Monday night. Michael Vick finished the game 22-of-41 for 272 yards with one touchdown and an interception while being sacked seven times. DeSean Jackson had three catches for a team-high 100 yards and a score while LeSean McCoy rushed for 119 yards on 19 carries. New Orleans took the lead late in the first quarter after Patrick Robinson returned a Vick interception 99 yards for a touchdown. Alex henery put the Eagles on the board with a 22-yard field goal in the second, but the Saints added another touchdown on a 22-yard Chris Ivory touchdown run. Drew Brees hit Marques Colston for a one yard touchdown later in the period for a 21-3 halftime lead. Vick found Jackson for a 77-yard score in the third then henery hit a 37-yarder to cut the deficit to Brees then hooked up with Jimmy Graham for a six-yard score later in the quarter to provide the final margin SERIES HISTORY Dallas and Philadelphia have squared off 102 times in the regular season with Dallas holding a advantage. Dallas grabbed the early 6-0 lead behind two Dan Bailey field goals (23, 32) on consecutive scoring drives in the first quarter. Atlanta returned the favor in the second quarter with two of its own field goals by Matt Bryant (45, 46) while holding the Cowboys offense at bay to stage a 6-6 tie at the half.
