Colgate Basketball Game Notes Cotterell Comforts Colgate (6-13, 0-5 Patriot) continues a stretch of four out of five home conference games Lafayette (8-12, 1-4) enters Cotterell Court fresh off its first league victory, a home win over Lehigh. The Raiders have won five of their last seven meetings against Lafayette, including all three at home. Colgate now holds a edge over the Leopards in Hamilton, but the Raiders still trail the overall series Repoli Returns to Form Sophomore Missy Repoli broke out of her shooting slump to lead Colgate with 15 points in Saturday s loss to Navy. The 3-point specialist entered the game three for her previous 33 from long distance, but made 3-of-4 against the Mids. The Raiders trailed only after Repoli connected on her third straight from downtown to begin the game. It was a matter of time for her; very good to see her break out of her slump, head coach Nicci Hays Fort said. And when they took away her 3-point shot she started attacking, which is what we need her to do. She went to the line had six free throws, Schedule which is huge. Date Opponent Time/Result Repoli is eighth in the Patriot League in 3-pointers made per game at 1.5. Milestone Wednesday s game is the 50th in the careers of Missy Repoli and Mariah Jones. Reid Toughs It Out Another sophomore who provided a bright note Saturday was forward Kelly Reid, who played as if last Wednesday s reinjuring of her high ankle sprain was simply part of her weekly routine. The captain finished with six points and a gamehigh 10 rebounds, her third doubledigit board effort in the last five games. I ve been having trouble with my highankle sprain all season, but Heather (Corey, assistant athletic trainer) has been great and we had a monster tape-job on it, Reid said. The ankle hurts, but losing hurts more. I wanted that win but, unfortunately, we weren t able to pull it out. But I have confidence in this team that we re going to be able to turn this around before the end of this season. Reid stands 10th in the Patriot League with a 5.8 rebounding average. Stockill Block Party Josie Stockill was a force defensively throughout last Wednesday s Army game, finishing with a season-high five blocked shots. She also ranks fifth in assistturnover ratio at 1.1. Catherine Lewis is sixth in 3-point percentage at 33.8, while Mariah Jones joins Repoli among the 3-pointers made per game leaders at 10th (1.3). Benchwarmers Rule Colgate continues its dominant performance in bench scoring. The Raiders substitutes have outscored their opposition to date by a count, or an average of more than 11 points per game. Sixteen of the 18 games have tilted toward the Colgate bench, with the only exception the result against LIU Brooklyn and a disadvantage at Connecticut. In last Wednesday s loss at Army, Colgate s reserves blanked the Black Knights subs Other recent margins of note were against Lehigh, 25-6 at Bucknell, against NJIT, at Niagara, and in a victory over Saint Francis (Pa.). Streak Ends at Seven Jhazmine Lynch saw her double-figure scoring streak halted at seven games. She still leads the team in scoring average at 8.9. Missy Repoli Lynch also now has 1,073 points for her career, moving her into 14th place on the all-time Raiders list: Kelly Reid Colgate Scoring Leaders 1. She s only 11 steals away from reaching 200 in that category. Lynch also is second in the Patriot Legue with 1.8 steals per game, and third in free-throw shooting at 80.7 percent. Patriot Players of the Week Missy Repoli and Mariah Jones have earned Colgate s Anaconda Patriot League Player of the Week honors this season. Repoli was honored for Dec. 3-9 after averaging 16.5 points and six rebounds in wins over Columbia and Saint Francis (Pennsylvania). Jones earned her nod after scoring a collegiate-high 25 points and tying for team honors with six rebounds in the Dec. 29 win over New Hampshire.
