The Raiders are looking for their first Patriot League victory of the season, while Navy has begun 1-2 after a superb nonconference run. Here last year, Colgate posted its best victory with a win over first-place Navy that snapped a 10-game overall losing spell to the Mids and a seven-game slide in Annapolis. Chelsey Koren is coming off a 15-point game at Lafayette. Koren leads the team in Patriot League play with a 10.3 scoring average. Colgaate is third in the conference among shooting percentage leaders at THE COLGATE 13 Thirteen notes on today s game against the Mids Colgate and Navy are meeting for the 59th time overall in a series that began in The Mids own a series edge but Colgate won last year in Annapolis. That victory snapped a 10-game Raiders losing streak to Navy and ended a seven-game Colgate slide in Annapolis. Colgate is looking for its first Patriot League victory of the season, while Navy is 1-2 in league play after going 10-1 during the nonconference campaign. Summer King is second among Patriot League leaders in field goal shooting at 51.5 percent. She entered this year at 41.7 percent for her first two seasons. Chelsey Koren led the Raiders with 15 points -- all in the second half -- during Friday s game at Lafayette. Koren is tops on the team during Patriot League play with a 10.3 scoring average. She is average 5.0 for the entire season. Should be a sharp shooting night at Alumi Hall as the No. 1 and No. 3 teams in field goal percentage face off. Navy leads the conference at 41.3, while the Raideres are close behind in third at Colgate s Dec. 2 win over UMass Lowell produced a 33-of-57 shooting performance for 57.9 percent, which was the program s best shooting touch since firing at a 58.1-percent clip in a January 2007 win over Lafayette. Among the nonconference milestones for second-year head coach Bill Cleary and the Raiders are their first season-opening win since 2009, first road win over Canisius since 1989, first road win over Cornell since 2002, and most lopsided victory in nearly three years and healthiest home win in almost five years with an triumph over UMass Lowell. King, Mackenzie Carroll and Tegan Graham were named captains by the coaching staff for the season. King is a junior from Walpo-

Colgate is playing its third game without Rachel Thompson, who went down for the season with an injury suffered against Holy Cross. Thompson trails only Summer King in the team scoring race at 9.2 to 8.9. Last year s All-Patriot League Rookie Team member is second in rebounding at 5.3. She also ranks among the Patriot League leaders in scoring (24th), rebounding (17th), field goal percentage (ninth) and steals (12th). The Raiders were a season-best 79.3 percent from the foul line against American, making 23- of-29. Mylah Chandler was a perfect 5-of-5 at the stripe and Tori Pozsonyi 6-of-8. Also against American, Tegan Graham matched her career high with seven rebounds for the second time in the last three games. Rookie point guard Nia Ahart leads the team in minutes played at 27.1 per game. She s also 11th in the Patriot League in 3-point field goal percentage at Patriot League coaches and SIDs predict an eighth-place finish for the Raiders this season. Last year, Colgate finished sixth after being picked ninth in the preseason. Colgate Athletics named Bill Cleary to its head women s basketball coaching position in March Cleary arrived at Colgate after an eight-year tenure at Bloomsburg, where he compiled a (.704) overall record and a (.698) mark in the PSAC. 6 PAGE 6 COLGATE at NAVY GAME 15 BILL CLEARY Head Coach, Second at Colgate Bill Cleary is putting his blueprint into place for the resurgence of Colgate Women s Basketball. Cleary took over as the 10th head coach in Colgate Women s Basketball history in March His first season saw the Raiders clinch sixth place in the Patriot League standings for the first time since , after being picked ninth entering the season. They put together an impressive 7-5 record in Cotterell Court that marked the fewest home losses since the Raiders went 7-4. Cleary built successful programs in both of his previous head coaching stops, arriving at Colgate after eight seasons at Bloomsburg and five at Wilmington (Del.). During his eight-year tenure at Bloomsburg, Cleary compiled a (.704) overall record and a (.698) mark in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference. The Huskies won just eight games the year before Cleary s arrival, but he put together four consecutive NCAA tournament appearances from , a PSAC title and five straight PSAC East Division crowns. Bloomsburg s 102 wins during that four-year NCAA run were the most in school history, and the 2012 NCAA tournament bid was the program s first in 20 years. Cleary during his time at Bloomsburg coached four PSAC East players of the year and four freshman of the year honorees. Awards weren t limited to the student-athletes under Cleary, who three times was named PSAC East Coach of the Year and in 2015 earned WBCA Atlantic Region Coach of the Year. That season, he guided the Huskies to a 26-5 overall mark and a 20-2 record in the PSAC. The campaign ended in heartbreaking fashion at the NCAA regional final, a overtime decision at the hands of eventual national champion California (Pa.) on the Cal home court. The first head-coaching position for Cleary was at Wilmington (Del.), where he turned around another struggling program. The Wildcats in Cleary s first season of won two games for the sixth straight season. Four years later, Wilmington went 22-9 and captured an ECAC Division II title for its first championship in school history. Cleary s career head coaching record through 14 seasons is (.569). A native of the Philadelphia suburb of Broomall, Cleary began his career with one season as an assistant men s basketball coach at Towson and two years as a men s basketball graduate assistant at Georgia Tech under Paul Hewitt. While in Atlanta, Cleary earned his master s degree in sports administration from Georgia State University in Cleary is a 1998 graduate of Villanova University with a degree in political science.
