Sept. 15 at then-no. 10 Clemson, BC fell on Tanner Deiterich s 60th-minute goal On Sept. 22, BC held the edge in play after the scoreless first period, but surrendered four goals in the second to fall 4-0 at No. 10 Louisville On Sept. 29, Virginia Tech were scoreless after the first half, but the Hokies tallied in the 47th minute and held on through BC s flurry at the end to take the league in in Newton On Oct. 6, BC again had the advantage in the first half, out-shooting the Cavs, but ultimately fell, 1-0, on a free-kick goal against the run of play midway through the first. On Friday, BC took a 1-0 lead at the half, but saw SU equalize midway through the second... Heidar Aegisson is ranked 31st nationally in total assists (6), and 40th nationally in assists per game (0.46) Simon Enstrom is ranked 17th nationally in total goals (9), and 30th nationally in goals per game (0.64) Enstrom and Callum Johnson both have three game-winning goals and are tied for 21st nationally Enstrom is also ranked sixth nationally in shots per game (4.43) and 12th in shots on goal per game (2.00)... he is also 17th nationally in total points (22)... his 1.57 ppg ranks 24th nationally Antonio Chavez Borrelli is ranked 117th in saves per game (3.29) and 63rd in total saves (46) As a team, the Eagles were ranked 10th in total assists (31) and 22nd in total points (75) On a per-game basis, BC is No. 13 in assists per game (2.21) and No. 32 in points per game (5.36) BACK LINE BESIEDGED BY INJURY, NOW HEALTHY The Eagles back line has been anything but consistent this season because of injury The injury situation got so bad that BC played only (then) one usual starter in the 4-0 loss at No. 10 Louisville on Sept. 22 Until the Virginia Tech game on Sept. 29, Younes Boudadi was the only usual starter who had played in each of the first nine games... BUT, he had to miss that game while recovering from a hard tackle in the Eagles midweek game... he has returned to the field and played 90 minutes the last four games Tomas Gudmundsson missed the Sept. 19 Providence game and was limited to just 21 minutes as a substitute at Louisville because of an injury picked up at Clemson on Sept he returned to full action on Sept. 26 against URI Len Zeugner, while officially back from his yearlong absence because of a knee injury, has been nursing an ankle injury suffered just 15 minutes into his season debut on Sept he saw 25 minutes as a sub against Providence and has not played in the last seven games... however, he is now back to full health this week and is working on regaining fitness Joshua Forbes - who missed the Aug. 27 game because of a red card suspension - came out of the PC game on Sept. 19 in the 33rd minute with a leg injury and missed the next two games... 4 AWARDS & HONORS YOUNES BOUDADI ACC Defensive Player of the Week Aug. 28 he returned to play 90 minutes against Virginia Tech, but came off after 61 minutes at Virginia... after only playing a half at Harvard on Oct. 10, he has played the full game the last two (overtime) contests Rafael Salama (12 starts, including 9 at center back and 3 at left back) has now claimed a starting role with all of the injuries, lining up among the starting 11 in all but two games Abe Bibas and Mohammed Moro (who has been playing as an attacker this season) have also slotted along the backline this season... against VTech, midfielder Heidar Aegisson dropped to right back for the game to cover for the loss of Boudadi. While the BC backline is now finally to full health, the Eagles have switched to a three-man formation the last three games SEARCHING FOR ANOTHER SHUTOUT After posting back-to-back shutouts to open the season, BC has allowed at least one goal in each of the last 11 games BC opened the season with an 8-0 goal differential, but now enters Tuesday s game with a deficit Goalkeepers Jack Bacon and Antonio Chavez Borrelli combined for the team s first two shutouts, but neither goalkeeper has a full shutout of his own yet this year ENSTROM S ENERGY Simon Enstrom leads the Eagles in scoring with 22 points (9 goals, 4 assists), but has been coming on strong of late The Swede has posted 10 points in the last three games, coming from four goals and two assists Enstrom started the year hot, scoring four goals in four games while adding two assists He then went scoreless in 6-of-7 games midseason, only scoring a - game-winning - penalty kick in double overtime against Providence But at Harvard, his spark returned with his first career hat trick, followed by two assists in the 2-1 win over Syracuse and a goal that kick-started the Eagles in the 80th minute on Tuesday over UConn Enstrom is among the national leaders in shots, shots per game, goals, points, goals per game and points per game. ENSTROM CLIMBING BC CAREER CHARTS As his junior year is coming to a close, Simon Enstrom is already starting his climb up the BC career scoring charts With 56 career points (22 goals, 12 assists), he is now tied for ninth on the Eagles career scoring chart, tied with Kyle Bekker 13

5 Additionally, his 22 goals are tied for seventh on the Eagles all-time chart, matching Sherron Manswell s four-year total LEN WAS BACK IN THE BACK... AND READY TO BE BACK AGAIN Redshirt junior center back and captain Len Zeugner made his season debut on Sept. 8 against Notre Dame, playing 89 minutes in the loss... he played a full 90 minutes at No. 10 Clemson on Sept. 15 His action on Sept. 8 against the Irish was his first competitive time since Dec. 5, the Eagles Elite Eight loss at Syracuse Zeugner missed 2016 and the first four games of 2017 while coming back from injury... Zeugner missed 20 months of action with his knee injury HOWEVER, he has now missed all or portions of the team s last nine games with effects from an ankle injury picked up just 15 minutes into in his season debut against the Irish Zeugner returned to full training this week and is looking to regain match fitness for the Eagles stretch run He was a third-team All-ACC performer in 2015 CALLUM KEEPS IT CALM IN OT Callum Johnson has been the Eagles hero in the last two games Against Syracuse on Oct. 13 and UConn on Tuesday, Johnson has converted game-winning goals in extra time to secure wins for the Eagles Last Friday, Johnson s strike from 12 yards out came off a feed from Simon Enstrom On Tuesday, he ran onto a bungled clearance and sent in a 19-yard shot that beat the keeper Both goals beat the keeper in the same spot: lower right corner Johnson s goal on Tuesday gave him four on the season, setting a new single-season best for the sophomore... he comes into Saturday s game with a career-best 11 points (4 goals, 3 assists) Johnson also set up Enstrom for BC s first goal in the late comeback effort that overturned a 2-0 deficit with 11 minutes left in the game BOUDADI BANKING THE ASSISTS Younes Boudadi played 19 games a freshman without a point, but has changed that quickly as a sophomore Boudadi enters Saturday s game with eight assists, a total that not only leads the team, but is also third in the ACC and eighth nationally He picked up his first career point on an assist in the season opener against Quinnipiac and then helped the defense hold off the Bobcats and preserve a shutout while down a man in the second half Two days later, he did one better and picked up two assists and also played right back in the team s 4-0 win at Boston University He added his fourth assist on the Eagles only goal against No. 6 Notre Dame on Sept. 8, then sent an angled cross in against Rhode Island, setting up Beto Luna s goal He recorded his second two-assist game at Harvard on Oct. 10, as Simon Enstrom converted a pair of his crosses in the game He picked up another assist on Enstrom s goal against Connecticut on Tuesday Boudadi s eight assists have brought him into the Eagles record books... he is now tied for ninth on the single-season assist chart, which has been done now a total of 10 times - last by Zeiko Lewis in one more would move him into a seventh-place tie and two more would put him in a tie for third CHAVEZ BORRELLI CLAIMS STARTING ROLE Freshman goalkeeper Antonio Chavez Borrelli has claimed the team s starting goalkeeper position, starting 11 of the last 12 contests - 6 AN ICELANDIC SHIVER UP THE SPINE A pair of players from Iceland have helped form the Eagles spine this year Senior Tomas Gudmundsson and sophomore/ newcomer Heidar Aegisson have each played at least 1150 minutes in the center channel this year, with Aegisson anchoring the central midfield Gudmundsson has started 12 of the team s 14 games, while Aegisson is second in minutes played The two can frequently be heard communicating in Icelandic to each other on the field, helping direct the Eagles shape FANTASTIC FRENCH Adam French, who has been one of the top subs on the attack recently, had a career day at Harvard on Oct. 10 Not only did he record his first-ever assist (on Simon Enstrom s second goal), he registered his first-ever multiple-point game with an assist on Enstrom s third goal That all came during the longest substitute appearance of his career (59 minutes) LUNA IS LUMINESCENT SO FAR Freshman Beto Luna has come in and turned heads in his first year of collegiate soccer An Energizer Bunny-type player, Luna has started 12 of 14 games, while playing the sixth-most minutes on the team among field players Playing as a forward alongside Simon Enstrom, underneath as a No. 10 or on a wing, Luna has been a consistent presence on field With five points (two goals, one assist), Luna is also one of two Eagles tied for fifth on the team in scoring His.476 shot-on-goal percentage is also tops on the team among attackers Luna joined the Eagles this year out of Weston FC in South Florida, one of the country s traditional club powers... he is the third member of the team from Weston FC (Tommy Garcia-Morillo and Abe Bibas) ABE IS A-PLUS IN FILL-IN ROLE Abe Bibas spent most of the 2016 season as the team s starter at center back in Len Zeugner s absence, but has become one of the first defenders off the bench and spot starter in 2017 In his first start of 2017 against Providence on Sept. 19, Bibas made the most of his chance, scoring Boston College s first goal He got on the end of a throw-in play, heading in Raphael Salama s flicked-on header after Heidar Aegisson s throw-in It was his first goal since 2015 and just the second of his career Bibas started three straight games - Providence, Louisville and Rhode Island - before returning to the bench... however, he s started the last three games as the right back in the team s alignment FORBES FINDING A NEW ROLE Joshua Forbes was a mainstay on the left side of the Eagles back line this year, but injury recently limited his time and positioning After starting the year as the team s left back, he has moved centrally as a defensive midfielder in a five-man midfield in each of the last three games He has started all 11 games in which he s been available, playing 769 minutes Through 14 games, he has two goal and one assist - setting a new single-season best Forbes scored his first goal of the season on Aug. 25 against Quinnipiac, and then picked up an assist on Sept. 4 against Xavier. Last game, he had impeccable timing by scoring his second goal of the season... in the 90th minute against UConn, Forbes headed in Rafael Salama s flick off a throw-in, tying the game for the Eagles at 2-2 and sending the contest into overtime... BC later won the game in double overtime FIRSTS OFF THE BENCH Two players found themselves in unfamiliar roles earlier this season: non-starters Up until this season, Mohammed Moro and Len Zeugner had started every game they had played in during their BC career... however, that changed this year Moro came off the bench in the first half on Friday, Sept. 8 against Notre Dame, marking the only time in his career he d been a substitute... overall, he s started 65 of his 67 career appearances On Sept. 19, Zeugner did the same, starting the second half against Providence and playing 25 minutes in a game he would have otherwise rested... it was the first time in his career he d come off the bench of his 36 appearances have been starts DAVOCK DEBUTS, THEN RETURNS TO THE BENCH After missing the first three games of the season with an ankle injury, Trevor Davock returned to the field on Sept. 4 against Xavier and played in three games before reinjuring the ankle Against the Musketeers, he made his season debut at the start of the first overtime session, playing the final 14:10 of the game... he had two quick shots in that game, including a chance at the game-winner in the first OT He then played 30 minutes against Notre Dame on Sept. 8, slotting up top as a substitute for 30 minutes At Clemson on Sept. 15, Davock played 32 minutes and had the team s best scoring chance of the night with a left-footed, off-balance shot in the 73rd minute of the 1-0 loss He has not played in the team s last seven games because of the injury BOUDADI GETS HIS DEFENSIVE DUE For his efforts on both sides of the ball during opening weekend, Younes Boudadi claimed ACC Defensive Player of the Week honors on Aug. 28 It was his first conference honor of his career, and the Eagles first weekly award since October 2016 when Trevor Davock was the Offensive Player of the Week On top of playing a key role in the team s two defensive shutouts, he also added three assists - the first points of his career - in the Eagles pair of 4-0 wins OH, MY MORO! Mohammed Moro spent most of his BC career along the back line as a left back, but got the call up top at forward in the season opener on Aug. 25 Just 10 minutes into the game, while resetting a cleared corner service, Moro laced a left-footed, curling shot from near the right sideline into the far upper left corner of Quinnipiac s goal It was his first goal since 2015, the game-winner at Brown on Oct. 6 Moro returned to his customary left back position at BU on Aug. 27, but has played all over the field this season - mostly at forward or as a left midfielder CENTER BACK ON THE SPOT A surprising candidate emerged to take the penalty kick the Eagles were awarded at BU on Aug. 27, after Younes Boudadi was taken down in the area Instead of a forward or even a midfielder stepping up, center back Tomas Gudmundsson was the one to approach the spot Making no mistake, he slotted his penalty past the BU goalkeeper to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead early in the second half. With Gudmundsson out of the lineup on Sept. 19, Simon Enstrom stepped up and converted his double-overtime penalty chance against Providence. ACC PRESEASON POLL The Eagles were voted to finish fifth in the ACC s six-team Atlantic Division All four teams ahead of the Eagles in the Atlantic were ranked in the Preseason United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) top nine: Wake Forest (No. 2), Clemson (No. 5), Syracuse (No. 8) and Louisville (No. 9). NC State rounded out the six-team Atlantic Division list Four Coastal division teams were also ranked in the USC Preseason Poll: North Carolina (No. 4), Notre Dame (No. 10), Virginia (No. 13), Virginia Tech (No. 17). Duke and Pitt completed the Coastal predictions North Carolina was predicted to win the ACC Championship with 5-of-12 votes...
