Newton Campus Fields Newton, Mass. ABOUT LOUISVILLE The Cardinals are coming off a 3-0 win over No. 2 Duke on Sunday, Sept. 9. All three goals came in the second half, with three different players finding the back of the net. Overall, Louisville has had six different goal scorers in its four games played. Last season, Louisville made it to the quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament and finished the year with an overall record of The Cardinals are currently ranked No. 7 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll, making them BC s first ranked opponent of the season. Louisville was one of eight teams in the United Soccer Coaches Top 25 this week: No. 1 Wake Forest, No. 3 North Carolina, No. 7 Louisville, No. 8 Notre Dame, No. 10 Duke, No. 16 Virginia Tech, No. 18 NC State and No. 19 Virginia. THE SERIES vs. LOUISVILLE Boston College is all-time against the Cardinals, with all games played since Louisville joined the ACC in The first two games in the series were one-goal BC losses, including the first-ever meeting on Sept. 29, 2014 (3-2 OT). In the first four meetings between the teams, at least one overtime period was played; last season, the Cardinals earned a 4-0 win over the Eagles. A WIN OVER LOUISVILLE WOULD... Move the Eagles to overall, marking the first unbeaten start through six games since the 2010 season (4-0-2). Give the program an overall record of and a mark of under head coach Ed Kelly. Give BC its first unbeaten start through two games in ACC play since the team started in LAST TIME OUT The Eagles jumped out to an early 1-0 lead against Holy Cross on Sept. 11 but had to settle for a 1-1 tie despite outshooting the Crusaders, 32-7 overall and 12-0 in extra time. The Eagles hit three posts in overtime and the Crusaders received strong goaltending from Henry Stutz. Simon Enstrom finished with nine shots attempts for the Eagles while Kristofer Konradsson had eight. No. 7 LOUISVILLE 3-1-0, ACC Enstrom scored his sixth goal of the season in the tie and he now has seven points in the last two games. THE CLEMSON CLASH The Boston College men s soccer team opened up ACC play with a dramatic come-from-behind, 3-2, win over Clemson in the Sept. 7 conference opener. Simon Enstrom scored twice, tying the game in the 71st minute before firing home the game-winner with a minute to play. The captain also assisted on Callum Johnson s goal in the first half Trevor Davock and Kristofer Konradsson also earned assists in the win - which was the first for BC (2-0-2, ACC) over Clemson (3-2-0, ACC) since the 2009 season - with Davock finding Enstrom for the winner. All of BC s wins in the series have come in Newton, with the Eagles maintain a mark at home. The three goals mark the most scored by BC in a single game in the series with Clemson. Twice before the Eagles have scored two goals in a game against the Tigers. ENSTROM CLAIMS CO-OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK Simon Enstrom was tabbed as the ACC Men s Soccer Co-Offensive Player of the Week on Sept. 10 following his five-point performance in BC s 3-2 win over Clemson on Sept. 7. Enstrom played a part in all three goals in the win, assisting on the game s opening goal, slotting a perfect pass across to Callum Johnson, and then tying the game in the 71st minute before firing home the game-winner with a minute to play. Enstrom finished the game with six shots. It was the sixth multi-goal game of his career and 10th multi-point outing. Overall, Enstrom is second in the ACC in points with 11 (five goals, one assist) and is tied for the lead in goals, with two other players also notching five. His 3.50 shots per game average is tied for the league lead as well. AND CONTINUES TO CLIMB BC CAREER CHARTS With six goals through five games in 2018, senior Simon Enstrom continues to climb up the BC career scoring charts. With 69 career points (28 goals, 13 assists), he is now sixth all-time in program history. Enstrom s 28 goals is tied for fifth all-time in

NEWCOMERS MAKING AN IMPACT Several newcomers to the Heights have already made an impact on the Eagles just two games into the 2018 season. So far, six freshman have seen the pitch for BC. Joe Fryatt, Tyler Stott, Kristofer Konradsson and Ivan Postolka all started in the season opener while Jesus Sahagun and Tyshawn Rose came on as substitutes. Rose earned his first career start at Providence on Aug. 31 the same game in which Carlos Dulcey made his first career appearance. Three other Eagles David Longo, Ronaldinho Diniz and Joe Kellett made their debuts in the Maroon and Gold against Quinnipiac as well. Kellett (510) and Longo (507) lead the team in minutes played. Stott (428) and Konradsson (415) lead the rookies in minutes played. CLASSIC COMM AVE COLLISION On Aug. 27, Boston College battled Boston University for the 54th time in the crosstown series, with the Eagles pulling a late comeback to force overtime and earn a tie. BC fought back from a two-goal, second half deficit to tie BU twice in the final 30 minutes. Simon Enstrom s goal with 3:21 remaining pulled it even at 3-3 to force overtime. Lasse Lehmann, Abe Bibas and Enstrom notched the goals for BC while Matt McDonnell had a hat trick for BU. The tie was the first in the series since Sept. 28, 1999, when the Eagles hosted the Terriers in another 3-3 tie. The deadlock moved the Eagles unbeaten streak in the series to six games. BEATING THE BOBCATS The Eagles opened the 2018 season with a 2-1 win at Quinnipiac on Friday, Aug. 24. Simon Enstrom scored in the 12th minute before adding another in the 30th to give BC a 2-0 lead at the half. The Bobcats pulled a goal back, but the Eagles held on for the win, giving rookie goaltender Joe Fryatt his first career victory. This was the Eagles fourth consecutive win over the Bobcats in the season opener. 4 LEHMANN S WORK Junior Lasse Lehmann scored his first career goal on Aug. 27 against Boston University, enabling the Eagles to overcome a two-goal deficit and force overtime. That goal, along with an assist in the season opener at Quinnipiac, have already given him a career-high three points on the season. Lehmann assisted on one goal as a sophomore CAPTAINS The Eagles will be led by the trio of Joshua Forbes, Simon Enstrom and Heidar Aegisson in Forbes is now in his second year serving as captain after first receiving the armband in 2017 as a junior. Enstrom and Aegisson are first-year captains SCHEDULE BY THE NUMBERS The Eagles will play seven regular season matches at home in Six opponents all from the ACC appeared in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll. Seven of BC s opponents reached the NCAA Tournament in BC s longest homestand of the season is three games (Clemson, Sept. 7; Holy Cross, Sept. 11; Louisville, Sept. 14). This is the 10th consecutive season in which BC will play non-conference foe Harvard EAGLES AT A GLANCE BC added 13 new faces to the 2018 roster, with 10 rookies and three transfers coming to Chestnut Hill. The 30-man roster for head coach Ed Kelly is the program s largest ever since BC joined the Atlantic Coast Conference in Joe Kellett, David Longo and Ronaldinho Diniz all come to The Heights with collegiate soccer experience. Four of the top five scorers from a season ago return, including 2017 leading-scorer Simon Enstrom. The roster is balanced with 15 upperclassmen (seven seniors, eight juniors) and 15 underclassmen (five sophomores, 10 freshman). INTERNATIONAL APPEAL The Eagles have nine different countries represented on the 2018 roster. One player each comes from Croatia, Italy, Ireland, Sweden and Venezuela while England and Iceland have two student-athletes represented and Germany three. Eighteen players are from the United States, including six each from Massachusetts and Florida, three from California and one representative from Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. ACC DOMINANCE CONTINUES The ACC is coming off a 2017 season in which it sent an NCAA-record nine teams to the NCAA Championship for the second straight year, with four teams advancing to the Sweet 16 and three to the Elite Eight. Wake Forest is the consensus No. 1 ranked team by both the United Soccer Coaches and Soccer America. The ACC has six teams ranked in both polls this week (No. 1/1 Wake Forest, No. 2/9 Duke, No. 7/11 Virginia, No. 9/5 Louisville, No. 12/4 North Carolina and No. 24/25 Notre Dame). NC State and Clemson are No. 14 and No. 19 in the Soccer America poll. CALLUM ALL-ACADEMIC Junior midfielder Callum Johnson was named to the Atlantic Coast Conference s Men s Soccer All- ACC Academic Team at the conclusion of the 2017 season. Minimum academic requirements for selection to the All-ACC Academic Team are a 3.0 grade point average for the previous semester and a 3.0 cumulative average during one s academic career In 2017, Johnson appeared in all 17 of the Eagles games, finishing second on the team in scoring with 11 points from four goals and three assists. 31 FOR KELLY The 2018 season marks head coach Ed Kelly s 31st at Boston College, and his 34th overall season of coaching. Entering the year, Kelly had complied an overall career record of , including three seasons at Seaton Hall, and owns a record of at Boston College. His 277 wins at Boston College rank him first on BC s all-time list. His 100th career win came at Hartford on Sept. 17, 1994 his 200th over Yale on Oct. 12, 2005 and his 300th over Syracuse on Oct. 30, Kelly has guided the Eagles to 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, including 10 since 2000 (1990, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2016) Under Kelly, the Eagles established a program-best 18 wins during the 2002 season. THE 52nd SEASON With the start of the 2018 season, the Boston College men s soccer program will embark on its 52nd season of play. The Eagles kicked off the program in 1967, going under head coach Gyorgy Lang. After 51 years of intercollegiate play, the Eagles held an all-time record of ACC PRESEASON POLL North Carolina was tabbed as the preseason favorite in the ACC 2018 according to a vote of the league s 12 head coach and was the top team in the Coastal Division predictions. Boston College was tabbed sixth in the Atlantic Division with Wake Forest taking the top spot. The conference sent an NCAA-record nine teams to the tournament for the second consecutive year 4 in TOUGH 2017 CONFERENCE GAUNTLET BC suffered three 1-0 losses in league play... four of the six losses featured scoreless first halves between the two teams, and the other two losses saw the Eagles down 1-0 at the interval BC opened with then-no. 6 Notre Dame, falling 3-1 as defending ACC Player of the Year John Gallagher posted a hat trick in the second half On. Sept. 15 at then-no. 10 Clemson, BC fell on Tanner Deiterich s 60th-minute goal On Sept. 22, BC held the edge in play after the scoreless first period, but surrendered four goals in the second to fall 4-0 at No. 10 Louisville On Sept. 29, Virginia Tech were scoreless after the first half, but the Hokies tallied in the 47th minute and held on through BC s flurry at the end to take the league in in Newton On Oct. 6, BC again had the advantage in the first half, out-shooting the Cavs, but ultimately fell, 1-0, on a free-kick goal against the run of play midway through the first. Against Syracuse on Oct. 13, BC took a 1-0 lead at the half, but saw SU equalize midway through the second... Callum Johnson s OT winner secured the team s first ACC points of the year and leapfrogged the Orange in the standings BC out-shot Wake Forest 6-3 in the first half on Oct. 21, but the Demon Deacons got a 45th-minute goal - with six seconds left - to go ahead 1-0 and then added three goals in the second (67, 76 and 83 ) as there were 10 cards (7 yellows and one red for BC, 2 yellows for Wake) in the game BC played to a 0-0 draw at No. 22 NC State on Oct the Eagles played the final 102 minutes with 10 men after goalkeeper Antonio Chavez Borrelli was shown a straight red card in the eighth minute... Callum Johnson and Heidar Aegisson had opportunities to win it with seconds left in the first OT, and Jack Bacon made a diving save with seconds left in the second OT to preserve the road point. Virginia, ranked No. 16 at the time, eliminated the Eagles in the first round of the ACC Championship with a 4-0 win in Charlottesville. SO CLOSE...
