2 It s important to say: Thank You Many people have worked to make your accomplishments possible. Whether you earned a white ribbon or the champion trophy, many people donated time, built buildings and donated money to make your experience at the fair possible. Some of the people you probably know well. Others you don t know at all. Most of those people gave their time and energy and money simply because they believe in you. They believe in who you are and who you are becoming as a grownup and as a member of the community you live in. They didn t do any of these things simply so they could get a thank you card from you. And, that is why a written thank you card from you is so important and will mean so much to them. You d be surprised how important and how meaningful a simple Thank You note can be. You can sometimes move mountains with a simple Thank You note. So move a mountain or two. What could be cooler than that! National 4-H Conference Are you interested in government, public policy, or working with others to solve a problem in your community? National 4-H Conference may be the place for you. It is the premier professional and leadership development event for 4-H members (15-19). While at National Conference you will work with other youth to create solutions to some of today s social problems such as distracted driving, childhood obesity and others. You will then have the opportunity to present your ideas to government agencies that can put your ideas to work such as the National Institute for Health, the National Traffic Safety Board and others. You will learn effective ways to advocate for an issue and can bring these skills home to your local community. If you are interested in this opportunity you will need to complete the Level 3 State Excellence Award form, answer an additional four questions about your Citizenship experiences and if selected for Regional and/or State judging prepare presentation about a current topic. Youth may only participate in this conference once. You may continue to apply as long as you are still age eligible. 4
5 National 4-H Week Campaign Manifesto October 7-13, 2018 This country was built by doers. For more than 100 years, 4-H has been a part of growth, always empowering youth to speak through action. By doing so, helping kids to develop their skills and the communities around them. But what if across our country we could apply this idea to all youth by growing a culture and generation of doers? What if we can help kids grow the life skills they need by creating the life experiences that inspire them to Do: To do well, do good, do over, do amazing, do STEM, do health, do differently. What if we could spark change and impact millions of kids, support youth community and create value for youth company by inspiring a Movement with just one phrase.
