Applications must be postmarked by July 6th & submitted to: MFA Saddle Award, State 4-H Office, 1110 S College Ave, Columbia, MO To find out more visit - es/horse_awards Member Recognition Opportunities Missouri 4-H Foundation Service Grants of $1,000 The Missouri 4-H Foundation offers up to match a 4-H community service project, with priority given to applications that emphasize youth service-learning involvement. on/grants.aspx Project Leaders Kit Online 4-H Project Leader Kit Table of Contents (LG913) is available online on our Club Management page ( b-management.aspx ) and on our Resources & Forms page ( ources-and-forms/ ) under the new topic area Project Leaders. Eva & Harley Saputo on Reba Volunteers- All volunteers must enroll annually on 4-H Online. NEW volunteers must also complete the paper volunteer form & the one time volunteer orientation. Volunteers who were active last year will not need to complete the paper form this year. National Leadership Award (Formerly the Danforth I Dare You Award) Youths ages 16 & older can apply by writing a one-page essay on leadership and/or citizenship, including personal 4-H leadership, citizenship skills and experiences. Crooked Creek Community Service & Reward Attention SEMO Fair Livestock Exhibitors - Deadline for sheep, goat & swine nominations is July 15, 2018 to the Cape County Extension office. Need SQMA certification this year? We have a session planned for July 10 in Bollinger County! United Methodist Church (by Coop), 6:00 pm Please call the office & RSVP by July 9 if you intend to attend. Butler County Fair- Entries will be taken September 26 from 12-8 pm, September 27 from 7-10am. The fair book will be out soon and is open to any county! Missouri 4-H Century Family Award- The Missouri 4-H Century Family Award recognizes 4- H families with long, sustaining involvement in the 4-H program. Missouri 4- H families with a combined 100 years or more of membership and/or volunteer service in 4-H are eligible to be recognized. Awards applications are due by July 1st and are available at: dation/century.aspx Good job guys! Working on keeping the county trash free.

4 Monarchs and Pollinators: Saving the Monarch Mini Grant Opportunity This project will provide matching mini-grants to 4-H Clubs across the state to plant and maintain monarch habitat gardens on highly visible public properties such as county courthouses, city parks, fairgrounds and highway ROWs. Such demonstrations would be used to publicly promote plantings to help restore monarch habitat and engage city mayors, town councils or county commissions and local media. Interested 4-H Clubs and 4- H project leaders would be issued $50 vouchers by the state 4-H office that could be redeemed at GrowNative! plant retailers covering up to ½ of the cost of landscape plantings. Some GrowNative! retailers will offer additional discounts to 4-H Clubs. The GrowNative! retailers would submit reimbursement invoices to MCHF. Plantings must meet specifications provided by the Department. Additional information and links to the application can be found here: archs/main#gsc.tab=0 4-H STEM Lab with HughesNet National 4-H has partnered with HughesNet to establish the 4-H STEM Lab with hands on activities for a variety of ages of youth. A few examples are found here. h.org/parents/stemagriculture/youth-stemactivities/ These hands-on activities are designed to instill curiosity, and critical thinking, helping kids develop the skills needed to be successful in life. They are also fun, easy to do & feature a messy factor just for you! Activities come with a PDF step by step instructions & supply list. Aerospace Camp July Cost is $395 & includes lodging, meals, & program materials. Missouri 4-H collaborates with Missouri S&T to conduct Aerospace Camp for youth ages Camp is full of hands on fun learning about what it takes to be an astronaut or in the aeronautics profession. No registration deadline. Visit /summercamps/aerospace/ to get more information about Aerospace Camp. You will also find other youth camps at M S&T at /summercamps/ Underwater robotics camp Three-day afternoon camp for incoming 4th-8th graders. Campers will spend the first 2 days working in groups of three to assemble their underwater robot and engage in other STEMrelated activities. Snacks will be provided. On the third day, campers will test and compete with their underwater robots at Macher's Swim School. Afterwards they will have time to play in the pool. A lifeguard will be on duty. 5 4-H Clothing Project Opportunity The Missouri Make It With Wool contest is October 6, Registration is due 9/1/2018. Entry forms can be obtained from the national website ool.com All copies with entry fees and swatches need to be sent to Jeanne Shuck, MO MIWW Director, Mexico Rd, Perry, MO State prizes may include: sewing notions, thread, sewing machine for the preteen category, Pendleton wool, tailoring accessories. Entry fee for Mo is $12.00 for the national contest and $7.00 for each swatch of fabric for testing. Top winner in Junior and Senior age groups will advance to the national competition in New Orleans, LA next January Wool content needs to be 60% and has to be tested. For info contact phone number is Country Club 4-H July meeting held down at Castor River State Shoot Registration State Shoot registration is open. There have been a few questions & problems, although many fewer than in years past. The most common problem occurs when a family is going through the registration process and get to the point to actually start adding events but click on the wrong button on the page. If they push the continue to payment button, they will be sent to the submit registration page to finish the registration. Instead, they should push the Add an Entry button to add events to the registration (see below). The Add an Entry button appears for each exhibitor registered. Remember, registration is not in 4HOnline but in Fair Entry at entry.com/ Western Heritage & Cowboy Action Shooting Contest- September 8-9, 2018 Dysart Memorial Shooting Complex in Marshall, MO Registration opens July 1 and closes August 15. 6 4-H Staff Update - Starting August 1st Bollinger County will have a new 4-H Specialist, Lesley Meier. She works out of the Cape County Extension Office in Jackson & will be the person I report to! She is already a familiar face to many of you.
