2 Worship: (Altar Guild, Communion, Acolytes) Kitchen Ministries : (Receptions Committee) Docents Ushers & Greeters New-Member Ministry Welcoming Newcomers Movie and Lunch Bunch This group meets on Thursday, September 17, at 11:00 AM in Room 101. Please bring your lunch and enjoy the movie with us! Stained Glass Window at FUMCSP Docent tours of our beautiful stained-glass windows are offered every Wednesday at 11:00 AM as well as specially requested scheduled times. We present a brief history of our church, along with significant spiritual and artistic facts about the stained-glass windows. In so doing we are able to share the progressive story of Jesus' life. Anyone is welcome on Wednesday mornings. There is no charge. Donations are accepted towards preserving the church and its priceless windows. For a group tour at a special time, please contact the church administrative office during the week at How To Become a Member of First United Methodist Church and the Foundry Becoming a member of FUMC is an enjoyable and rewarding process. The church provides Discover First, an orientation to better inform you about the ministries, the United Methodist history and how you can grow spiritually through your service to God. Discover First takes place 3 times a year. The program begins at 11:00 AM on 2 consecutive Sundays with the first session lasting 3 hours, including lunch, and the second Sunday, 2 hours. This orientation provides you information so you can make knowledgeable decisions concerning your membership to FUMC and The Foundry. Our next orientation will be on January 24 and 31, If you are interested in participating in January, contact Denise Meyer, Executive Assistant to the Pastor at , ext Downtown Newcomers The downtown churches continue to invite the new condo dwellers in our neighborhood to attend and participate in the services and ministries of our six churches. Invitations are sent by mail to each resident "our new neighbor". We have planned a Sunday afternoon of upbeat, hand clapping Gospel music at Williams park on October 11th from 3:00 PM til 5:00 called the Son Shine Festival. Please join us and meet our new neighbors and enjoy the uplifting praise to God and His Glory.

3 Discipleship Boy Scouts Pre-School Children's Ministry OneEighty Youth Events: Youth Ministry Serve St. Pete is the new outreach initiative for 180 Youth. The 2nd and 4th Sundays from 5-7:30 PM, youth - choose between half a dozen projects to serve our city. Drop-off and pick up at Wherehouse. The Juice-1st and 3rd Sundays, 5-7:30 PM, 180 Youth variety show at the Wherehouse - bring a friend, win a prize. Youth Worship-Sunday 10:50-12:00 PM at the Wherehouse - youth band leads worship, Bible teaching, and small groups. Possibly donuts! Wednesday Bible Study-5:45-7:00 PM, $3 for Chic-Fil-A dinner in Fellowship Hall followed by Bible study in Wherehouse - one study for High School and one for middle school. Night of Joy-September 11 save the date. Details to follow. Warren Willis High School & Middle School Retreat: 10/16/2015 to 10/18/2015 Imprint is a youth-group movement at the Warren W. Willis United Methodist Camp. It has a mission to empower, to encourage, to give hope, and to educate our youth to make a difference with their lives. Imprint will be an unforgettable weekend at camp, for middle school and high school youth groups. Living out our eternal life everyday can help IMPRINT the world with the life-transforming message of Jesus Christ. IMPRINT Love is the fourth retreat in a series of five retreats that will bring to life the issue of living outside our own desires and seeking the desires of Christ. The pathway to our mission is to show a world where justice is sought, were compassion isn t just a feeling but an action, and where the love of Christ is lived out by loving others. This year's Imprint theme will challenge us to engage in community. We will dive into concepts of responsibility, stewardship, and intention. How are we called to share our/ God's resources? How are we called to care for our world? How are we called to participate in, establish, and engage in community? Cost per student is $ WARNING: This retreat can change the way you think about the world. Children s Ministry Emily Strong has been added as full-time staff for Children s Ministry. She will be leading all the ministry activities on Sunday/Wednesday and Thursday for ages 3 years through 5 th grade due to Aubry s departure to teach in our Preschool Day school. We are very excited about this transition and know that God has great things to show us! 3 year olds through 5 th grade Children s Ministry activities are all now on the 4 th Floor. Nursery and Two s class still check-in in the Fellowship Hall, and their rooms remain the same. On the 4 th Floor, Preschool Sunday school hour is 9:30 AM, and Kid s Church is now 11:00 AM. Elementary hours remain the same. WNL begins on September 2 nd from 5-7 PM Preschool and Elementary Choir or Theatre Club, dinner and Program time. $3/per child for dinner; $39 for all 13 weeks. We will be serving Chic-Fil-A nuggets each week. Elementary Lock-in is Sept. 11 th. Bring $10 and a new pair of pajamas for Clothes to Kids. Sign up form is on the 4 th floor.

Father/Daughter Dinner and Dance Fundraiser, Sept. 25 th, 5:30-7:30 in the Fellowship Hall bring that special girl in your life for dinner, dancing and games and a fun night of activities, $30 for two, $5/ additional children or adult. Proceeds will go to Children s Ministry, open to all ages. Reservations MUST be made. Sign-up sheet is on the 4th floor or lulrich@fumcsp.org. Connect Group Kick-Off The upcoming Kick-Off for connection groups is Sept. 20 th in the Fellowship Hall. This is a great opportunity to inform our church members about the many connection groups or ministries that are available at FUMC and the Foundry. This event will run from 8:30-12:15 on Sunday morning. Adult Bible Study That The World May Know -- Faith Lessons, by Ray Vander Laan Please join us as we begin a new book, With All Your Heart, a 6 week study of how we, like the Israelites of the Exodus, are to focus on God's blessings in times of abundance and in times of trouble. Our first meeting will be Wednesday, September 23, 9:30-11:00am, in Room 308. This is part of the series That The World May Know -- Faith Lessons. In the weekly videos filmed on location in the Middle East, teacher and historian Ray Vander Laan weaves together the Bible's historical, cultural, religious, and geographical contexts to bring God's Word to life and reveal keen insights into Scripture's significance for believers today. The accompanying participant book makes the journey interactive, with daily personal Bible study and questions that facilitate discussion and personal reflection. 5 Faith Community Nurses say: Blood Pressure and Health Information Clinic There will be a Blood Pressure and Health Information Clinic, on September 13, from 9 AM until 11:30 AM in the nurses area on the first floor. Adults also need vaccines (immunizations). Check with your primary care provider or the health department to see what you need. The Point, Celebrating Life Recovery Join us every Thursday night at the downtown campus for your midweek refresher for the human spirit: Starting Point, free children s program, good food, live music, inspiration from others and a special message of hope by Dr. Gil Smith, The Point Director. 6 Missions International Missions Street Ministry United Methodist Women (UMW) The Foundry Good News Club United Methodist Women You can be a Ditty Bag packer this year! UMW invites everyone to help pack the 200 bags we will send to the homeless through the Salvation Army and the Free Clinic. Please come to the Fellowship Hall at 11:00 AM, Monday, September 14. You are most welcome to join us for this important ministry. Please save the date of Tuesday, October 6, for our Mission Study on Latin America. We collaborate with Pasadena Community Church, where we meet at 9:30 AM. Lunch for six dollars follows. More next month! "Angels in Fashion" is coming soon! Please join us for our Annual Brunch on Saturday, October 17, 11:00 AM, at the St. Petersburg Yacht Club. Delight again in fashions by So Chic. Proceeds will benefit local missions. Good News Club For several years, FUMCSP has shared the gospel with young children at Woodlawn Elementary School in an after-school setting. For 3 months each spring (January to April), we meet one afternoon a week for one-anda-half hours ministering to children. Once again Good News Club is looking for people drawn to working with children in a mission-like setting right in our town. Training is free. Call Pat Ault at for more information. SVdP is helping Homeless Veterans Society of St. Vincent de Paul Homeless Shelter in St. Petersburg FL is in need of donations. We are providing services for all the homeless Veterans in Pinellas, Pasco and Hillsborough Counties. We need donations of toiletries, shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, toothpaste, towels and washcloths and blankets. Donations can be dropped off at the district office at th Street North, St. Petersburg, or call for info Meals on Wheels Is Looking for Volunteers Our church has been staffing a Meals on Wheels delivery route for many years. We have a wonderful group of 40+ members and friends who volunteer for this mission. We go out in teams of two; each team delivers one day a month. Time commitment is about 1-1/2 hours (10:30am-12noon). We currently need volunteers for the 2 nd Monday of the month, starting immediately, and for volunteers who are flexible to help when there is a need. Training will be provided. If you can help, either on a regular basis or as a substitute, please contact Sue Allen (sueallen@tampabay.rr.com or ). Salvation Army The Salvation Army needs volunteers to help register community families for Christmas assistance October and volunteers to staff its Angel Tree Monday through Saturday at Tyrone Mall November 14-December12. 7 Events and Announcements Couples Bible Study The Love Dare Join us for this unique and intimate Bible Study for married couples. We will kick-off our study on Friday, September 7:00 PM by watching the movie, The Foundry (popcorn and comfy couches will be provided). Following the movie, we will dive into this 40-day study and gather The Foundry every Thursday 6:30 PM to share what the Lord has revealed to us about being married. What a great way to rejoice and be encouraged by your Brothers and Sisters as we work through The Love Dare together! Rays Family Fun Days Join The Foundry as we take in a ball game against our division rivals, the Baltimore Orioles, Sunday, September 20!! The first Pitch is at 1:10 PM, so head over to the ballpark after worship. Tickets are $34 (to be the Foundry by 9/10 cash only, please). Let's Go Rays! Connect groups are a mid-week gathering where people encourage one another and build each other up through fellowship and studying God s Word. These small groups create an intimate and welcoming atmosphere to share with other followers of Christ. Foundry Ladies Connect Group Wednesday nights, beginning September 6: st Ave. S. 8 Foundry Con t Foundry Yard Work Join the Hedge H.O.G.S. (Hands Of God Servants) on Saturday, September 12 and 26 this 8:00 AM, as we beautify the Foundry. We will be mowing the grass, pulling weeds and doing light yard maintenance around the Foundry. Please bring your work gloves and a water bottle. Christ-centered the Foundry Build your strength, endurance and power through Christ with Kickboxing. Curious? Come check-out our Christ-centered Kickboxing (bag workout) class at the Foundry on 6:30 PM, in the Gathering Room.
