4 Summer Schl Breakfast Prgram The Blmer Schl District will be ffering a breakfast prgram fr students attending summer schl. Participating students will cntinue t use the same lunch accunt they use during the regular schl year. All students will retain the same lunch status (regular r free / reduced) as they were under during the schl year. Students that d nt attend the public schl during the schl year but enrll in the summer sessin will need t stp by the Blmer District ffice t set up an accunt and / r file fr a free / reduced applicatin with the Blmer Schl District if they plan t eat breakfast. These frms are available at the district ffice, th Avenue, r yu can call (715) and request a frm. The breakfast will be available at the Elementary Schl cafeteria frm 7:30 8:00 am fr all students. Safety Twn (Fr current 4K and 5K students) This is an educatinal prgram that intrduces safety awareness and preventative prcedures t children at an early age. The prgram is designed t help children at an early age by develping prper safety habits, and mst imprtantly, a general safe attitude which will guide them in making SAFE DECISIONS thrughut their lives. A few tpics that will be addressed will be bicycle and skatebard safety, fire safety, and safety as it pertains t the plice department. The prgram will be pen t all students either entering kindergarten in r wh have just cmpleted kindergarten, and will take place during the last tw weeks f summer schl, July 6 th 16 th. Safety Twn will run Mnday Thursday, frm 8:00 11:50 am, and it will be held at Blmer High Schl. Enrllment will be limited t 25 students per sectin. We will run tw, ne-week sessins. Explre Galre (Fr Incming 4K Students) Any student wh will be attending the Blmer 4K prgram in the fall f 2015 is eligible t participate in this fur-day summer schl class. The children will be explring schl and the wrld arund them. They will have fun singing, playing and learning. It will be a great pprtunity t find ut what 4K is all abut. The class will be held during the week f July 6 th July 9 th. The class will als be held during the week f July 13 th July 16 th. Each student will enrll fr ne f the tw weeks. Class will run Mnday Thursday frm 8:00 am 11:00 am. Parents will be respnsible fr transprting their child t and frm this curse as n busing will be available. T enrll in this prgram, please cntact the Elementary Schl Office at Early Explrers (Fr Incming Kindergarten Students) A tw-week educatinal prgram fr all incming Kindergarten students will be ffered as a part f the summer prgram. The class will emphasize rhyme, music, and art. Students will wrk n large and small mtr skills, thinking skills, listening skills, and scial skills. The gal is fr students t get a feel fr what a day f five-year-ld kindergarten will be like. There will be tw sessins this summer, each running fr tw weeks. Classes will be Mnday Thursday, frm 8:00 am 11:55 am. Sessin 1 will be frm June 8 th June 18 th and Sessin 2 will be frm June 22 nd July 2 nd. 5 This summer sessin will be filled with fun learning experiences t fster each child s grwth in writing, reading, math, and prblem-slving skills. The theme this summer is EXPLORING OUR WORLD. Children will be invlved in a variety f activities that will build backgrund knwledge and enhance their learning. Field trips and learning centers will fcus n the fllwing units: Bugs, Camping, Science, America, Lng Ag, and Farming. There will be a $7 fee fr this curse which will take place fr six weeks, June 8 th July 16 th. Each day the class will run frm 8:00 11:50 am, Mnday Thursday. *Nte: Students enrlling in Safety Twn will be excused fr ne week t attend that prgram. Remediatin - Reading and Math (Fr students wh have cmpleted grades 1-7) Students will be enrlled in reading and math curses based n teacher recmmendatins and will be placed by grade level. Parents are strngly encuraged t have their child(ren) attend remedial math / reading curses if recmmended by classrm teachers. Students wh are achieving belw grade level will receive targeted instructin during these curses. Library Media Center (@ Elementary Schl) The Library Media Center will be pen t students during the summer schl sessin frm 8 am 12:00 pm, Mnday Thursday. Students will be able t use and check ut materials during the six weeks f summer schl. Parents will be respnsible fr LOST r DAMAGED library materials. Open Gym - Weight Rm The Blmer Summer Schl prgram will als ffer an pen gym and weight rm starting Mnday, June 8 th, and ending n Thursday, July 16 th. This will take place at the High Schl. Open gym hurs will be 1:00 4:00 pm and 6:00 9:00 pm, Mnday Wednesday. On Thursday, the gym will be pen frm 1:00-4:00 pm. Students d nt have t sign up ahead f time t take advantage f this pprtunity. Speech / Language Therapy Prgram This is infrmal speech and language supprt that is cmpletely separate frm IEPs. It is pen t any student, with r withut an IEP, wh wuld like individual r small grup practice and expsure t age apprpriate speech sunds, phnlgical awareness skills, and/r language skills. Children, as yung as 3, can benefit frm play-based sessins fcusing n age apprpriate speech sunds. Elementary students can practice speech r language skills while engaging in games and activities. Summer speech sessins are usually minutes in length, 1 2 times per week. Space will be limited and enrllment will be based n availability. This prgram will be ffered during five weeks f summer schl, June 15 th July 16 th. If a student is cming t the summer sessin ONLY fr speech therapy, then transprtatin t and frm therapy will be the respnsibility f the parent(s) / guardian(s). Children invlved in ther summer schl classes may be able t have speech services during their schl day.
