2 MEMBERSHIP REPORT Thanks to all who have renewed their memberships. Current membership stands at 171 which is comprised of 113 singles and 29 couples. 8 members informed me that they had chosen not to renew and 52 others are still outstanding. If you know anyone who hasn t renewed please give them a reminder as we wouldn t like to lose anyone. Over the past 2 months we have had 7 new members and would like to welcome Pat England, Murray Donovan, Heather Scully, Paula Cody, Dianne Kelly and Pat and Ric Bishop. We have also had 6 enquiries. We hope to see our new members and some of those who have enquired at some of our activities. Miriam Madden, Membership Secretary ACTIVITY CO-ORDINATOR S REPORT Thank goodness the warmer weather is on the way and hopefully we will see a few familiar faces that have been missing over the winter period. Our night BBQ is starting again with our usual host Judy who will make you welcome. We are participating in Seniors Week with a Lunch at Steeples. This year we are having a Cup Day lunch at the Dava Hotel, so ladies titivate yourselves, have bet on the CUP and who knows you may win a fortune! is a gentle way to keep fit and Anne instructs a class every. The first lesson is free then the cost is $10 per month. Our walking group is a good way get yourself out and about especially in the warmer months- why not give it a try. Patricia Bickell, Activities Co-ordinator. When booking for an activity that includes a meal it is important that you advise the convenor of any special dietary requirements. 2
3 COMING EVENTS - SAVE THE DATE MORNINGTON LIFE ACTIVITIES CLUB CHRISTMAS FUNCTION, 1st December at 6.30pm. This year s Christmas Function will be held at Norwood House Reception Centre, 1198 Nepean Highway, Mt Eliza. Come and Celebrate Christmas in Style at this very lovely formal venue. As normal music will be played throughout the evening for those who wish to dance. Cost: $50.00 for Members and $55.00 for Non-Members. See Page 9 for additional details and Booking form. Enquiries can be made by contacting Denise Riley BELEURA BON BON OPERA This year s opera is based on Gilbert and Sullivan s The Mikado. No doubt with the usual energy and comedic touch of the troupe it is sure to be quite a show in the wonderful setting of Beleura House. We currently have only 5 tickets left for the evening session on 7 th December and 7 tickets left for the afternoon performance on 8 th of December. Please contact me if you are interested. The evening performance is $90 and the matinee performance is $65 per concession. Payment is due to me no later than 15 th of October. Call Gaye Langdon or glangdon1@tpg.com.au. CAMPING TRIP 15 th November Monday 19 th November at Watiki Creek Resort near Echuca Activities include table tennis, pool, golf, canoeing, and dogs are welcome. Download Wataki Creek resort. [Resort contact information info@wakiticreekresort.com.au. (03) ] If you have your own tent, van, motorhome, please make your own booking with them. The powered sites are in the park. Unpowered near the retreat or pool. The Wataki Retreat house has been booked which includes a kitchen, spa and 3 bedrooms (1 with bunkbeds). It sleeps a total of 9 people and the cost will be about $160 pp for 4 nights. For booking in retreat contact Bobbi on after 13 October (overseas until 13/10) COFFEE MORNING (First of each month) 3 rd October and 7 th November, 10.00am-11.00am Mornington Library Coffeeshop (within the Mornington Library), Vancouver St, Mornington The Library is very comfortable, lots of room, great tea and coffee, also a range of delicious healthy eats. Seniors Week Lunch at Steeples Restaurant, Tyabb Road, This is an extremely popular venue offering great food at reasonable prices, so come along and join in as we celebrate the conclusion of Senior s week. A la Carte meals or Senior s menu available. New and Prospective Members most welcome. Ladies and Gentlemen dress in all of your finery along with your favourite hat and be a part of what promises to be loads of fun. Seniors and A la carte meals available. Join me for a super day. SOCIAL TABLE TENNIS Every -12noon at Mornington Table Tennis Centre, corner of Tyabb & Dunns Road. YOUR FIRST GAME IS FREE!!! Enjoy light exercise in good company. Cost is $6.00 per morning which includes tea or coffee and biscuits, plus a subsidy towards a meal out during the year. Players also need to join the TT Association (annual fee of $45, which allows you to play Mon - Thur as well). Bats and balls are provided. Please wear non-marking footwear. GOLF s - Tee off at 9.45am A group plays 9 holes every at Mt Martha, except on the first of the month, when play is at alternative courses in the area. We are very lucky to have so many superb courses on the peninsula and this makes for great variety. Please refer to the calendar for locations. First of the month as follows: October 3 rd. NEW TIME tee off Flinders Golf Course, Nice scenic course. You can play 13 holes if desired or just the usual 9. Light lunch afterwards. November 7 th,10 AM tee off, Bembridge Golf Course Nice course with water testing. Try your skill. Both dates - Meet at the Rotunda in Mornington Park (top of the hill from the pier), Mornington). Donna will be away August, September and October and Ana Greeno has agreed to be convenor for those months. Please contact Ana for confirmation beforehand.
