The Mean Green will face off against Tulsa at 6:30 p.m. on Friday evening Prairie View A&M and Montana are also competing in the tournament. North Texas will take on those schools Saturday at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m., respectively. NORTH TEXAS' TOP STORYLINES, STREAKS & TRENDS Palileo Returns For His Fifth Season His fourth year was a down year (13-19), but three members of the Mean Green were recognized as all-conference players in Juniors Amanda Chamberlain and Holly Milam garnered First-Team All-Conference USA honors, while Emma Eakin was named to C-USA s All-Freshman Team. Chamberlain went on to be selected All-Southwest Region Honorable Mention, the second-straight season a player has made all-region under Palileo. MeanGreenSports.com Live Tweets...@MeanGreenVB Broadcast...TBA Vinh Nguyen enters his third season as associate head coach on the North Texas staff in The coaching veteran plays an integral role in all aspects of Mean Green volleyball, specializing in the training of the middle and pin hitters, arm swing development and offensive/defensive blocking systems. Carnae Dillard Rejoins Mean Green Carnae Dillard enters her first season as an assistant coach with the North Texas volleyball team, rejoining the Mean Green after one year of professional volleyball in Sweden with Engelholms Volleybollsällskap (EVS). Dillard made an immediate impact on her professional squad as she was voted Sweden s Player of the Year, the highest award in the Elitserien League. She was the leader of the Elite Series with 317 points and carried that over to Elitserien league play, pacing EVS with 461 points while averaging 17.1 points per match. The former North Texas great was a two-time Conference USA Player of the Year and earned Honorable Mention All-America honors as a senior. She tallied 2,327 kills over her four-year Mean Green career, finishing as the program s leader in kills, attacks (6,063) and kills in a season (687). Her prestigious career featured 53

2 North Texas volleyball Game Notes Aug : North Texas Invitational matches of 20 or more kills, including 18 in her senior campaign, and a career-best 31 kills on four occasions. She finished third in digs with 1,426 while becoming only the second Mean Green player to be recognized as an All-America selection by the American Volleyball Coaches Association. Dillard graduated from North Texas in 2016 with a bachelor s degree in kinesiology. North Texas Tabbed Sixth in C-USA Poll For the second straight year, the North Texas volleyball team was picked to finish sixth in the Conference USA Preseason Poll. The Mean Green placed two players on the C-USA Preseason Team in senior middle blockers Amanda Chamberlain and Holly Milam. The talented crop of returners are joined by a class of six newcomers to round out the 15-member roster. Home Sweet Home The North Texas Volleyball Center has been a tough place for opponents to come into. Nearly every home match is a sell out and the low roof provides an advantage to the Mean Green as they know how to play it. In the Palileo era, the Mean Green own a record when playing at home. Tournament Heavy Schedule North Texas will participate in four tournaments to begin the season, adding up to 12 games in. In addition to hosting the North Texas Invitational this weekend, the Mean Green will host the North Texas Challenge on Sept The team will also compete in the Boston College Tournament in Boston, on Sept. 1-2, as well as the Mississippi State Tournament in Starkville, Miss., on Sept Tradition of Academic Success The North Texas volleyball program received an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Award for the seventh consecutive year. Additionally, the Mean Green made the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll, which indicates a top-25 grade-point average among Division I programs. The AVCA introduced the honor roll to mark the 25th anniversary of the award. Next Up The Mean Green will head to Boston to compete in the Boston College Tournament along with Boston College, Bryant and Princeton beginning on Friday, Sept. 1.
