Dear, Players, Parents and members. PRESIDENT S REPORT With the junior competition under way it has been a flying start to the season for the club. I have had the pleasure of watching most of our teams play over the past few weeks and I am pleased to say we appear to be very competitive across all grade. At the completion of round 3 Junior League will re-grade teams so the competition is evenly matched. Coaches if you believe your team may be re-graded and want the club to fight it please contact me ASAP. Game Day Duties Thank you to all of those parents who attended the ground managers course last week. If you have completed the course and are at the ground could you please be aware if a ground manager is required for your team s game. Please check your manager roster for canteen and BBQ. On most days the BBQ will be covered but on occasion we may still need assistance with cooking. The canteen sales are very important to the clubs finances and many hands make light work. Sponsorship I would like to thanks all our existing sponsors and welcome all our new sponsors to the club for We will be holding a sponsors lunch in the coming weeks for those sponsors who have signed up to that package. If you would like more information about how to become a sponsor please feel free to contact Keith Begg on Girls Winter League Thank you to all the girls and ladies who have signed up to be part of the inaugural winter touch competition. We look like fielding a team or two in every grade this year. This is a new concept from the Junior league and the Mighty Crocs are leading the way. If you are not yet registered, or want more information, please contact Daniel Beckett on Club Apparel There are still un collected training shirt from Christmas. 11 U6 GREEN MATCH REPORT Chris Lowe Manager: Vanessa Lowe Trainer: Andy Dowley De La Salle - 2 Score: Lost 32-8 It was a beautiful day for footy down at Captain Cook Oval and the boys were keen and ready to play. The warm up was good and all the boys were focused on the game. Today we came up against a pretty well drilled De La Side but the boys didn't mind, with some excellent defence and attack from all the boys. Ryder and Xavier showed some blazing speed and together with Kayden and Lachy made some excellent cover tackles. Ryan and Noah got involved early with a couple of good runs and some great passing keep up the good work boys. Jake, Finn and Bobby made some excellent tackles and some great runs, Jake was elusive and Bobby was cut down agonisingly short of the try line keep trying and you will cross soon. All of this great work form the boys allowed Isaiah to sneak over for a great try catching the De La boys off guard. Jack Salter had a huge game today with some great defence and his best running yet allowed him to cross for his first try ever and his performance today got him man of the match Maccas award. Great work Jack. De La ended up running away with the win today but the boys all played awesome and once again made the coach proud. See you all at training Friday. Coach Tries: Jack 1 Isaiah 1 Page 11 of 26

U6 YELLOW MATCH REPORT Brad Ellis Manager: Jade Ellis Trainer: Sean Bateman De La Salle Score: Lost The attitude of the team today matched the weather, bright and sparkly and ready to go and it sure showed on the field. ALL players looked like they were having lots of fun and made a massive improvement from last week. I m sure as a team you guys are going to continue to go from strength to strength. The match started with some great runs by Harley and Hugh. This was followed by a try saving tackle by Connor. Defence then turned to attack with two lengths of the field tries, one by Connor and the other by Hugh. Defence then continued and even though the opposition scored a couple of tries it was great to see our guys chase them down right to the try line. The final try from our team was scored by Lucas who ran well and straightened up to put the ball down under the posts. Special mention to Taylar who showed great focus this week, assisting in a few tackles and making some good runs. Its early days, but, I think there are definitely some future NRL players hiding amongst us! Once again it was too hard to split the Best Player award so congratulations go to Lucas Smith and River Atkins. Thanks again to Brad and Sean for their on field efforts and Jade for all her organisation. Page 12 of 26

U8 RED MATCH REPORT George Roukanas & Hayden Garn Manager: Tania Barry Trainer: Jens Lindhardt Engadine Dragons Score: Won The Under 8 Reds played their first home game of the season, and once again the boys produced a wholehearted team effort recording a convincing win over the Dragons. Player Profiles: Matthew Sinclair-Wadham: Once again produced some punishing defence and scored a great try catching the Dragons short down the blind side. Tobi Beckett: Imposed himself on the opposition with his size and power. He tackled brilliantly and made several barnstorming runs and scored one great try. Zachary Roukanas: Was terrific with his service out of dummy-half and produced some damaging runs on last tackle options. Hamilton Kingi: Showed his class scoring a great try and made the defence nervous every time he touched the ball. Jay Lindhart: A great game in both attack and defence had the opposition always going backwards. Jordan Barry: He was great all day. He scored a great try and provided good service to his ball-runners. Kingston Hewett: He was damaging with his direct and powerful ball carry, whilst producing some punishing defence. Brodie Johnsen: Continues to impress with his incisive ball carrying and bone-jarring defence. Scored 2 great tries to top off a great performance. Finn Hansell: Consistent as always producing some inspiring runs and very good defence. Nate Garn: Was very nippy proving a handful for the defence and showed very good line speed throughout. Cooper Guinane: Produced the standout performance of the day. Ran powerfully through the heart of the defence and tackled great earning a well deserved MOM. Tries: Brodie (2), Tobi(1) Matty (1) Jordan (1) Hamilton (1) Go the Crocs Page 13 of 26

U8 BLUE MATCH REPORT John Mannah Manager: Kim Murr Trainer: Cronulla-Caringbah Score: Lost 6-44 This week everyone played well. It was great to see all the team get involved and start to run forward. All the boys played important roles and improved. Rory, is a tackling machine, he tackled anyone who came running his way. Or he chased them down and tackled them. Well done Rory! Taj made some strong runs, while Harley held the ball in front of him when he ran and the opposition didn t know what direction he was running. Aston kicked a goal and was always in position and Mark is getting better at running forward. Ethan was a great dummy half, he was always in position and Jayden had a great game as well. The Player of the Match went to Hunter who made a break and ran like lightning down the sideline because he was always running hard and straight. Fantastic Work Hunter!! A big thank you to Tobi and Kingi who filled in for us. Page 14 of 26

U9A s MATCH REPORT Damien Ratcliffe Manager: Jason Johnston Trainer: Paul Cain Cronulla-Caringbah Score: Lost 26-6 This weekend s game was down at Cronulla against the Black Cats. Last year they had 1 Star player and again this year he lined up for them.our boys warmed up well. Plenty of chat and good vibes from the team. Our game was later than usual this week as well. The first 20 minutes saw our boys tackle hard. Jasper Poole and Ethan Johnston were stand outs in the first half. The Blacks Cats stand out player score the points in the first half of the game. Tommy Dellow scored and converted his own try in the 10 th minute and this had us down by 6 points going into half time. The second half of the game again saw both Ethan and Jasper making tackles. Special mention to Tommy Dellow and Jackson Kean who also were outstanding in defence. Our boys tried hard but again the Black Cats scoring machine put another few tries on our team. We went down to the black cats 26-6 at full time. Our team played well, the boys should be happy with the overall game as we played as a team together. Everyone played their part. MOM Jasper Poole Page 15 of 26

U9C s MATCH REPORT Jason Mallard Manager: Barry Moore Trainer: Rob Roach Aquinas Colts Score: Lost A spirited game where the 9Cs had a gutsy loss to Aquinas. The boys played very well, but being a player short this week took its toll, and they were just pipped at the end. Everyone had great contributions. The highlight came from Josh Buckley s length of the field try. Special mention to the boys that have played in the dummy half and first receiver positions. Ben, Drew, Jackson and Thomas, all did a great job. Dimitri worked tirelessly in defence. We welcomed back Lachlan who made many long runs. Cohen and Jayden s running to the line deserve special mention, likewise the keenness of Dylan to get involved. Scoreboard read: Tries to : Josh 2 Ben Cohen Thomas Page 16 of 26

U10B s MATCH REPORT Gary Lawson Manager: Stuart Cameron Trainer: Brian Baron Engadine Dragons Score: Won Second game of the season saw us come up against Engadine Dragons at home. We knew the Dragons would be pumped up for a big game as they had just come off a close loss against Taren Pt Titans. As the game went on it was pretty much tit for tat scoring from both teams and neither side could get away from the other. We had a few boys play a full game before ours and Brian told me he felt all the boys were a bit flat during the game. But what seems to becoming a trait of the 10B s we tough it out with a last minute win. A wonderful effort by the entire team but there was a few stand outs. Noah, Kegs and Kale who are the power pack up front, ran hard and defended well. Jacob, the lil master is becoming a true leader of the team and is always impressive. The two dummy halves, Harry (the tackling terminator) and Lockie, who back up from a full game, were very good and with a few more skill training will be fine dummy halves. Unfortunately the referee in trying to stamp his authority on the game did his best to blow the pea out of his whistle and made the game a real stop start affair and the game became very scrappy. Very happy with the boys never give up attitude, but if the boys play to their potential we shouldn t have to find ourselves in the position where we need to pull a last minute try out to win the game. We need some quality training sessions and start to put our combinations and skills together. The boys need to have confidence in their own ability, they shouldn t think that others will take the lead and score or make the tackle, make it happen yourselves boys. See you all at training. Page 17 of 26

U10C s MATCH REPORT Keith Begg Manager: Tony Robinson Trainer: Tom Colquhoun / Patrick Agius Engadine Dragons Score: Won Another cracking week of footy! The boys taking it up the Dragons from the get go! Leading the way forward in attack our Bulls, Oscar, Kade, Jack & Cody Campbell tearing through the defence with some outstanding running. Tackling machine Cody Clifton supported by Harry and Owen where relentless in defence. And ball players Tom, Kyan, Nate Liam and Lachlan zipping, darting and placing runners in the right spots in the right times! All the boys brought their A Game this week and gave 100% Como Tries: Harry 1 Kyan 3 Lachlan 1 Tom 1 Liam 1 Jack 1 Goals: Cody Clifton 1 Nate 1 Lachlan 1 Page 18 of 26

U11A s MATCH REPORT Dean Heffernan Manager: Sally Pavett Trainer: Scott Featherstone Engadine Dragons Score: Lost 18-0 It s always a tough match against the Dragons and Saturday proved to be no exception. Dean and Scott promised to work on defence last week and the results were there for all to see. With a tight first half and the Dragons leading 6-0, Khy looked dangerous at the back, making some penetrating runs together with some solid defence. The whole team defended really well with Bailey and Tanner leading the way. Koby was strong in attack and was a real handful for the Dragons defence every time he ran the ball. Errors late in the first half proved to be costly The second half was another tight affair with the Dragons scoring another two tries going on to win There were some encouraging signs from our boys and a big improvement on last week. We looked good in patches and can only improve as the season progresses. With the coaches and players working hard that first win won t be far away. Points Khy 3 points Sam 2 points Jed 1 point Man of the Match: Bayley Page 19 of 26

U11C s MATCH REPORT Jay Putterill Manager: Virginia Bridger Trainer: Daniel Falconbridge Gymea Gorillas Score: Lost 12-8 With a couple players away and injured this week we knew we were in for a bruising encounter with a tough Gymea outfit with no men on the bench and the boys definitely dug deep. It was a very low scoring affair dominated by some extremely tough defence, especially from captain Patty O who was a non-stop tackling machine until a late injury forced him from the field in the dying minutes and surprise packet Asen who did his best to rack up a mountain of tackles in only the 2nd game of his career. Only the goal kicking separated two eager teams on the day. After a solid 20 minutes from our forward pack lead by some clean and crisp service and enthusiasm in D from dummy-half Keegan launching a platform for Man of the Match Ryan D to cause problems for the opposition with his size and speed in only his 3rd game accompanied by front rower Angus embracing a new hard running demeanour and the leader of our pack Mitchy to chew up meters every time he got his hands on the ball, the boys chalked up a single try through Adam's new found confidence in his running game helping him beat a number of tacklers to the line and send us into halftime 6-4 behind but definitely on top in the arm wrestle. After switching to dummy at half time Cooper was more involved in both attack and defence taking a couple of well disguised scoots to catch the opposition on the back foot and almost get across the line for a second try in 2 weeks. The second half also brought about some more organised attack in the backline with Burgo and Luke combining well to create space for the latter to make some spectacular, slicing runs through the Gorillas defence which set the team up deep in the opposition half to crash over for our second try and go ahead with under 10 minutes to go. Some desperate defence and some much needed spark in attack from Jason, who showed some amazing leg drive and strength with the ball in hand, looked to be carrying the boys to a gritty win after a gruelling game but to their credit the boys in lime green snuck a try in with a couple minutes to go to snatch the lead. The crocs never gave up though and with 45 seconds to go and one man down we took the tap restart at halfway and on the back of some outstanding link up play and backing up we were pulled down 10 meters short of a match tying try which would of been just as fair a result in any neutral's eyes. It ended 8-12 to the opposition but it was a great team performance from the boys on the day and very pleasing for the coaching staff to see the determination and never say die attitude of the team. Man Of The Match- Ryan Dalwood Tries- Adam Pat O Page 20 of 26

U12A s MATCH REPORT Ben Beckett Manager: Chantelle Bliss Trainer: Rob Wishart / Brent Gundry De La Salle Score: Won 6-4 Well todays match was a frustrating game from the boys, although we still got the 2 points. We started really well with Drew forcing 2 x line dropouts, and then doing the show and go diving over to score a nice try early in the half, After that the boys were in patient we had plenty of opportunities, but we needed to spread the ball out wide unselfishly, we had on several occasions 2 to 3 man overlaps and didn t capitalise, we will work on that during the week so we are better next game. Our defence was great again this week and I thought our kick chase was great also. Our players player went to Jack Bliss who was again outstanding for us doing some of his trade mark fast feet runs and chasing kicks really pressuring De La Salle s boys at the back. Best forward went to Kobey O Brien who had another great game for us today making plenty of tackle busts and hitting ball runners with everything he has got, Best back went to Drewsy for his 2 x repeat set grubbers and his nice try. Tackle of the day went Anthony Roukanas whose defence was great today. A special mention goes to Bailey Ratcliffe who helped us out today thanks Bailey Tries Goals Drew x 1 Kobey x 1 Page 21 of 26

U12B s MATCH REPORT Paul Douglas & Damien John Manager: Renee Hulbert Trainer: Shane Hulbert / Hayden Brown Cronulla-Caringbah Score: Won 10-8 Tries: Lachlan, Nick Goal: Ryan This was a truly courageous defensive performance. We led 10-8 at half time and had to defend our line for the final 20 minutes as Cronulla dominated possession and position. Remarkably both teams remained scoreless and we escaped with a brilliant win. This was one of those games where the coach was proud of all the players. We were down to one reserve with injuries to 3 key players and we couldn t afford to have any passengers. AND WE DIDN T. Nick, Mack, Will and Mitch pushed forward all day in attack. Nick crossed for another quick thinking try (he is becoming a scoring machine!!!). Matt, on the right, and James, on the left, inspired their teammates on their side of the field with some huge hits and hard running. Tom, Lachlan and Ryan improve our organisation with each game together. Tom played strongly all match (until unfortunately injured), Ryan set up play beautifully, and Lachlan scored a terrific try from a Ryan kick but also excelled under pressure with his running in the second half. Dylan and Ashton have a roaming commission and were heavily involved all over the park. Bailey played his usual I ll pop up everywhere game. Liam was a surprise packet. Charging up out wide to cut off numerous dangerous situations. Players Player: Michael. What an improver. He s becoming one of our consistent tacklers out wide and now in the middle. Michael has become one of our most reliable players. Page 22 of 26

U16/17 DIV 2 MATCH REPORT John Harding Manager: Trainer: John Shimooka / George White Date of Game: 10 April 2016 Cronulla-Caringbah Score: Lost 28-8 U17 MATCH REPORT Alex Harding Manager: Trainer: Paul Said / Tom Cleary Gymea Score: Lost 30-8 Cronulla Caringbah 28 defeated Como 8 at Scylla bay 3 points Jinxy 2 points Roche 1 point Kai and Shaun A tough weekend for both teams, couldn't fault the effort boys, everyone had a dig. A big thanks to everyone that played up and down and backed up and a huge thanks to Chris and Zac from the 15/s very much appreciated. The mojos were defeated 30-8 by a very good Gymea side on Saturday, both sides aren't too far away from a win. See you all on Tuesday down the mo cheers boys. Page 23 of 26

1 ST GRADE MATCH REPORT Manager: Trainers: Rees Hughes John Arthur Mark Lennon / Sam Isemonger De La Salle Score: Lost 12-6 Como got rattled by DLS within minutes of the kick off, a minor error and a lack of concentration DLS capitalised and ran in a shock try in the left hand corner. Not such a great start. But the boys regrouped and a charge down by Tom Anderson and with Dominic Wallace retrieving the ball to run 40 metres to score as Rob Wishart adds the extras. The Como boys are neck and neck with the opposition at this early stage of this game and are giving the De La Salle forwards a hammering while the precision passing and our defensive effort is dictating the speed of the game. The defence from both sides is hard hitting and heavy duty and De La Salle is getting a slight advantage from the penalty count and is retaining the majority of the ball. But we have Hayden Fepuleai and Vincent Stowers working hard in the forwards and are dominating our defence around the ruck whilst Taylor and Dominic were cutting them up out wide. Our concentration lapsed for a moment and DLS went in again. It is too hard playing without the ball. Our new players Vincent, Kyle and Andrew Sultana are fitting in comfortably and are playing to a high standard. Andrew is adapting well at half and Taylor is experiencing a number of good runs from the centre position. Dominic Wallace is organising the direction of play and when kicking the ball is gaining excellent field position. Como down at half-time 8 to 6. Como returned for the second half enthusiastically and with a better sense of direction. But again not being able to retain the ball, we were required to defend the line more times than we needed to, exposing our fitness level which at this point of the game is telling and therefore having to work extra hard because of it. Regardless, Como is playing a very tight game and both sides are not giving in. Tom Andersen is still running up the ball hard and tackling well in the middle area as DLS are lying down injured at least once in every six tackles. As the game was drawing near to the end DLS came home a little stronger than our boys that resulted in them scoring another try on the bell. A disappointing finish. B&F 3 Taylor Teroi-Fepuleai 2 Vincent Stowers 1 Hayden Fepuleai From the Hill Page 25 of 26

CLUB SONG I don t know what you ve been told, Como Boys have hearts of gold. We play our footy with passion and pride, Then after the game it s cheers and pies.
