10 U6 GREEN SPONSORED BY FOOTSTEPSS EARLY LEARNING CENTRE & SPORTS TECHNOLOGY INTERNATIONAL Maehee Reweti Natalie Palummo 28 June 2014 COMOO SCORE: WON 28-4 It was the battle of the crocs today. Both teams did very well. Our man of the match went to Logan, he scored great try darting down the blind side and his defence was really good to. Tobi scored a lot of tries again and I told him to try and set one of his mates up so he said to Tane run with me and I ll pass it to you so you can score a try, it was so good to hear him say that he showed great sportsmanship well done Tobi. Maxi, Taj and Hunter weree trying to run around the opposition but didn t quite make the try line but made some great meters. Kayden and Sammy ran the ball really well today to Sammy weaves his way through the defence like no other and Kayden's foot work is one of a kind. Then last but not least the hit man Matty he put a few big hits on today he is proof that you don't have to be big to be able to tackle really well he has great technique keep it up. Report from 21 June 2014 Como v Gymea We played the gorillas and the boys played one of their best games yet. Ziggy got man of the match making some busting runs he was a hand full for the opposition and is getting more involved every week well done Zigg. Little Matty got an intercept an ran away for a try it was good to watch. Kayden Logan Sammy and Big Hunter shared the work load running hard and tackling hard. Tane had fun running round with his mates. And Tobi lives and breath es footy it s a shame the game doesn't go for 5 hours to cater for him, he wants to run the ball every time and he tackles like there's no tomorrow, must have got it from his grandfather. It was a great game all round well done boys. The score was about 26-8 our way Page 10 of 38

12 U6 BLUE/GOLD SPONSORED BY FOOTSTEPS EARLY LEARNING CENTRE & EVOLUTION BUILDING Peter Thomas Tammy O Mahony Clayton Solly 28 June 2014 DE LA SALLE SCORE: LOST We walked out on the field today with our captain Zach proudly wearing the captain s armband, ready to take on the De La team, the smell of wet grass and dirt, igniting their enthusiasm. We may have lost our last few matches but we are singing when we re losing, because we have a top team of boys and today like every week they were super! Daniel, Little Jack, Zach and Aaron have been so impressive in previous weeks and have played outstanding games, the last time we played at De La, the team we played asked how we managed to be graded GOLD! Today we showed them, with the absolute boundless energy that only a parent of boys truly knows, combined with the enjoyment of the game, Como were all over it. Luke, Josh and Jack absolutely destroyed the De La attack with the tackles they produced, and while the older boys ran them down our first year boys (D-J-Z-A) held them, one tackle even had 6 Crocs in it that s team work! Our confidence is getting better and with Aaron, Daniel and Jack all making forward runs it will certainly help with our attacking game, tries today came from all across the park, Jack, Olly and a superb little side step from Luke saw him go over too... We should have had a few more but De La s on-line defence was outstanding and we were left short several times inches from the line Zach was in control as captain and even made some breaks through the opposition to gain valuable ground, the sideline seemed too close today as he crossed the wrong white line, Oliver and Jack used their lighting quick speed in chasing the quick De la boys down, it was a well fought game enjoyed by both teams. (Maybe not the Mums having to get dirt and grass stains out of white jersey s this week :) ) Page 12 of 38

13 Man of the Match Jack Nolan, with strong runs today he is certainly becoming a player that has a total game, and cute to boot! Top Tackler last week 21st Josh Hughes, he s giving a jumbo performance every week, he may need to get a better mouth guard than a half-time orange in the future though. Well done Josh, A+ for effort this year. Top Tackler 28th - Aaron is really starting to love his footy he is becoming more confident every week and tackling today was outstanding, smashing job Aaron. Some great defense by the boys on the try line prevented Cronulla getting across and soon after Jesse had a long run to score again. The last few minutes of the first period saw Cronulla go over the line again, followed by Carter, leading into the first break with Crocs leading 14/10. Second 10 saw a great full length of the field run by Ethan to score then convert. Jesse also had a good run to get over the line. The boys did well in defense, preventing any points for Cronulla in the second period. Lachlan put up some strong tackles and Lincoln provided some tricky moves and had a great run just before the break but just couldn t get over the line. 24/10 to Crocs going into the second break. Last period saw Cronulla score and convert early, but Crocs ran away with it in the end with tries to Hayden, Carter and Jesse, as well as conversions to Thomas and Alex. Thankfully for the "fill in coaches" credibility the boys started off well, tackled very strongly and moved up in numbers. Oscar, Lachlan and Jobe scrambled in defence superbly and Noah and Keegan were making great contact with their shoulders. Charles, tommy and Aiden mowed down any half break with speed to burn. Charles and Tommy, both scored great tries thanks to great lead up work from all of the boys. Como went into the first break 12-0 up. Second third started in a similar vein to the first. Keegan pulled off a couple of great tackles along with Lachlan running down a certain try from the opposition with a copy book cover tackle. Aiden scored an excellent try down the right hand side to give Como a 18-0 lead going into the final third. The black Cats really did try hard all game and never gave up. With a few handling errors from the boys we gave them good field position and they scored a try late in the final third to make the final score Como 18- Cronulla Caringbah 6 The boys did well today. They understood the importance of starting the game well and setting the pace for the game. Nate is out injured and Lachlan was not available leaving us down on troops. We started the game off well with some great runs and outstanding defence in the first 10 mins. Particularly go od in defence was Liam who made a lot of tackles. In the second second 10 mins the game continued to be close with the lead changing hands a number of times. We had a few injuries during this period and which set us back with Harry and Declan having to leave the field and Liam carrying on injured. Luckily the 8C s were able to help us out with Harry B starting the game for us on the wing and Kade starting on the bench. Thankfully Connor also made himself available and filled in at fullback with Harry off the field. d. The final 10 was a nail biter, with the lead swapping again. A great try by Nathan from an off load put us in front by 2 with only a few minutes left to go. Unfortunately one of our boys was taken out over the side line in the final minute, giving Gyme Gymeaa the possession and on the final tackle they were able to go over to score. Great effort by the boys considering the injuries during the match. And a special thanks to Harry, Kade and Connor for helping us out. We played strongly for most of the match but, in patches, our defence allowed Gymea to keep pressure on our try line. Thanks to our "B" grade. Jed (in a cameo role), Patrick and Sam all did a great job doubling up after playing in their game previous to ours. Bayley and Leon kept picking themselves up after running into the bruising Gymea defence line! Kye worked hard and showed he had lost nothing since his overseas holiday, Jack and Fynn are making our attack take shape and they both threw some terrific passes to get around our opponent. Team Awards Lachlan- much improved defensive display with more improvement to come Korby- ran for many metres and made one sensational covering tackle on their rampaging number 13 (and rampaged a lot) Sam- scored a brilliant open field try and tried to get us going forward from dummy half. Luke - his most consistent game of the season. Tackled hard and low and showed how to stop bigger, layers. Page 19 of 38

Once again our forwards, Mitch, Pat and Eden were solid up the middle and made the defence work hard all game. On the back this great work, Jack, Nathan, Harry, Sam, Jed and Oliver were slippery and hard to stop. Nathan did a brilliant job at sharing the ball around and scored 2 great tries. Sam, Harry, Alex, Jed and Toby crossed the line while Jed, Eden, Pat and Nathan converted 4 into 6. After another magic half-time talk from John, Taren point remained scoreless in the second half. The real defensive turning point occurred just after the restart - where we defended our line and stopped their big players. The whole of the second half saw the Como boys go from strength to strength and we watched a great team effort. Thank you to Noah and Aiden who played up from the 8 s it is great to have you on our bench! Outstanding play by all the boys today John s standouts were Jack and Toby. Page 20 of 38

22 U10B SPONSORED BY SECURE VIEW & JA BRADSHAW CIVIL CONTRACTING Ben Beckett Shane Hulbert Rob Wishart & Tom Andersen 28th June 2014 De La Salle 2 SCORE: Won Today we played Delasalle 2 for the first time this year. We got off to a great start with a try 2 minutes in after a great run from Pat, he scored our first try of the day. Our defence was again very good today we all moved up fast which lead to our second try when Dela were rushed to throwing a bad pass that Pat read very well as he intercepted it and had the speed to get to the tryline. Delasalle were next to score 15 mins in to the first half and thats where it stayed when the halftime bell went. The second half started with our forwards moving up hard again with Logan, Blake, Oliver, Will Rowan and Pat really combating Delas new found intensity, they really tried to change the game but our defence seemed to frustrate them into errors it was only 3 mins in and the ball went to our try scoring machine Josh Farrow (2nd in the completion) who ran almost the entire length of the field to score, the game after this became an arm wrestle for the next 10 minutes when Dela crossed for their second of the day. Not to let Dela finish on top we got down their end with 3 minutes to go when Mack went for one of his trademark runs from dummy half close to the line where his speed is hard for the opposition to stop from scoring, this was the final try for the day taking the score to 24 points to 12. the boys played some good attacking football today, our backline ball movement is getting faster through Ryan and Finn who are starting to get some ball out to the outside backs Sam, Dylan and Bailey who will start to find holes if we keep improving. Todays Man of the Match was Pat who captained us today and then scored our first 2 tries really putting us on the front foot for the entire game. 2 Points today went to Bailey Ratcliffe who continually moves up in the defence and throws his body into tackles without self preservation. 1 point went to Will Hulbert who had his best game of the year he always defends well front on and had some great runs today (it doesn t go unnoticed he always does unselfish things for his team mates). 26 U11C SPONSORED BY GRANGE ELECTRICAL SUPPLIES & BEMARCON CONSTRUCTION Paul Said Karryn Fryirs Josh Howard 28 June 2014 Aquinas SCORE: Lost Aquinas are the current leaders and favourites to win the comp this year so we knew this would be a tough match. Aquinas straight away showed why they are favourites, kicked off into touch on purpose and started with the ball. After only 3 tackles they had scored, converted and were back at halfway ready to go again. 6 0 As Como launched our first attack we were met by ferocious tackling. Aquinas moved up together, they were fast and shut down our hard running forwards but that wasn t going to slow the mighty Crocs. 1 after another our forwards charged straight into the defence and then a quick play the ball, quick hands to Rogan and he burst straight through the defence to run 30 m and score. 6 4 We were back in the game and then Aquinas get the ball, cart it upfield, bust a tackle and score. Too easy for them, our defence needs to work together and get in front of the ball runner. Conversion successful All of this happened in the first 5 minutes of the half and now it was Como s turn to attack. Aquinas held us out for a set of six but a clever kick from Oliver and pressure from our chasers caused a mistake. Another set of six. Como attacked, strong runs from Josh and then Liam got us right to the try line but we couldn t get over. Paul wants the ball to go wide but there was too much up the middle here and a chance went begging out wide. Aquinas brought the ball away but Como was too strong this time and got the ball back. A great Liam run got us attacking again but again Aquinas held us out. Page 26 of 38

27 Time for more defence and Caleb was in there working hard. Aquinas make another long break but Elliott runs him down and slows him up long enough for Kurt to get there and finish off the tackle. Great work. Penalty to Aquinas after the half time hooter and they punish us scoring and converting For much of that half we were right in the game but that last try hurt and it will take another half time miracle speech from Paul to get us back in the game now. 2nd half We try the same sneaky kick-off as Aquinas with not the same great result. Aquinas on the attack again but whatever Paul said at half time is working. Defence is much better, the forwards, led by Aiden and Number 8 (sorry didn t get everyone s name) charge forward. It is a half of end to end football. Great defence makes scoring hard and Harvey takes up the challenge. 3 bell ringers in a row lift the team and Como are on a roll. Elliott starts making plenty of metres out of dummy half, Liam and Cain are going forward all the time. One tackle reminded me what my old coach used to say they can t run without a head. Most people wouldn t have got up after Liam copped one above the nose but he is so tough that he just bounced up and said give me another run. Good boy. All this pressure from Como opens up a small gap and Elliott sneaks over from dummy half. Conversion from Harry. Paul is a genius Here we come Como Aquinas are stung into action and attack and attack. That man Harvey pulls off the tackle of the match, an absolute beauty and puts Aquinas into touch with a try saver. More back and forth, good attack and defence from both sides. 40 seconds to go and we got lazy. Aquinas score and convert That was a cracking game and everyone should hold their head up high. Keep listening to the coach at training and you can beat them next time. Well done all. 3 points Aiden 2 points Harvey 1 point each Elliott and Josh Page 27 of 38

30 round. After some consistent forwards pressure down the left flank Zach put in a well weighted cross field kick with Dan (12 s) gathering comfortably and scoring to keep us within range at the break. Our secret weapon Sam Jinks came on for what was nothing short of an inspirational half of footy seeing our entire troops rally. An energised Jacob came on for a 60 meter run off the kick off to set Jay, who played the whole game, up to bash his way over to line in a gutsy charge. Our defence for the first time this season started moving up nullifying their big man leaving Della with no other options but sideways. Riley, Dylan and Zach tackled consistently ably supported by our big men Latty, Larn & Jay who pounded their defensive line. As fatigue set in holes opened with Michael (2) asking questions from dummy half and the speedy Sam taking on several tired defenders, darting from dummy half scoring from just over half way. Michael kicked two from 4 adding the winning points in the end while putting in some solid defence. Our flankers also stepped up with Jake making some good hard yards, Ethan was solid and Cody had one of his best games diffusing several bombs and making to crucial tackles. Latty (who went off injured but came back on) and Christian spearheads an assault on their line with Michael (2) providing some clean ball out of the ruck to see Zach deservedly dive over for the wining try. Despite a lack of numbers, with super coach Cliffo back at the helm, some inspiration from our junior players and finally some self- belief, we saw a 50 point turn- around from the first round match result. 31 With the weather turning sour, and the wind blowing, the grand final rematch was always going to be a tough battle. We trained well through the week with the players we had fit and available, but as it got closer to game day our squad of 19 was down to 15 players. With holidays, injuries and the flu ripping through our team we were up against it. We had players playing out of their normal position, but this was still no excuse for our overall team effort we dished up today. We had too much one out running and missed way too many one on one tackles. Our ball handling was poor as we gave the ball to the opposition continually during the game. The speed of our play was very slow and we did not have any urgency in attack. Our attack had no direction and we relied on individual skill rather than working for field position. We tried hard in patches, but it was not a great team effort. There were some strong performances in our backs; Connor ran the ball strongly and was our only real threat in attack this week as our other backs were starved of the ball and didn t come looking for it. D Arcy tried hard when he got involved. Adam Rae defended strongly and put many of his opponents on their backs with copy book tackling. Our forwards battled hard in difficult circumstances but always struggled to gain field position as we continually dropped the ball. Jinksy had a strong game, giving it everything in attack and defence. Jacko and Mitch continually ran the ball forward and were always busy in defence; however their attack was stifled as they appeared to be defending by themselves too many times. Aaron played well given that he has been struggling to train with his health, but it was great to see his Como spirit by getting on the paddock. The best player on the park was Jack Said. He tackled everyone that came near him and started to take the line on in attack. If he takes the line on more that will get us going forward in attack. His effort in trying to run down a Sutho player running the length of the field was a highlight for me. He never gave up and this was one of the 1% efforts I have been talking to the boys about every weekend. At the end of the day there were no excuses for our lack of ball control. I told the boys before the game that we have the team to beat Sutherland if we play as a team. Once the boys put that Como jumper they should have been prepared to play footy. But it wasn t to be. I want to say a big thankyou to Chris Jinks from the U13 s who helped us today. A big effort considering the age jump. After the match I said to the boys this was a game to forget. But in hindsight I was wrong. We need to remember how poorly we played but we still could have won the game if the ball rolled our way. We have so much more to offer than what we dished up on the weekend. If we continue to train hard and all work together we can become a better team and better footballers. 37 A GRADE SPONSORED BY COMO HOTEL, PRO REO & CYCLONE GLOBAL Jay Putterill John Arthur Kevin Mcdermott Mcdermott 28 June 2014 TAREN POINT SCORE SCORE: LOST It only took 3 minutes before Taren Point scored. Como is at disarray and has not yet touched the ball. Finally when they do get it are struggling to maintain it. Eventually when we get a three man overlap the ball gets knocked down preventing a certain try for Como. Rob Wishart is playing well and making some good runs. Como regathered some composure and Blake Mackay makes a run from dummy half to score our first points. Mome nts later Dominic Wallace sends a wide pass to Luke Bateman to score our second. Things appear to have settled down but Taren Pt retaliated to score an easy try in the corner. Our boys are not playing to the same standard as that has currently been expecte expected d and are taking things too easy without the right degree of intensity. But there are instances that appear that shed some light as Daniel Swanbury scores another try in the right hand corner. But our defence is really wanting as Taren Point score again and we let them off the hook. By sheer luck nearing the end of the half Rob Wishart throws a dummy and runs to score our fourth try of the half as Como go the sheds leading at the break 18 to 16. A stern talking to by the Coach at half time seemed to go rright ight out the window as poor defence let them in again to take the lead only within 2 sets of six. There is a very strong wind that is causing havoc to our passing and kicking resulting in Como dropping more ball than necessary. Although Como seems to alwa ys have a territorial advantage we cannot capitalise due to the number of errors being made. We don t seem to be making any headway due to the windy conditions and the fact that Taren point is controlling the ball and maintaining possession and scoring whenever whenever they want. Hayden Fepuleai scores a good try in the corner to get us closer but all too late as Taren Point win their first game. Players Player 3 Daniel Poulsen 2 Luke Bateman 1 Dominic Wallace Page 37 of 38
