1 1 S (Da Bm Squad) Psitin Philsphy Expectatins 's play the tughest psitin in ftball. The physical and mental attributes needed are unequaled in any ther psitin. Yu play against the best athletes in the hardest part f the field...space. Yu must understand that it is inherent in the psitin that yu will have less than perfect plays. Sme caches may have a prblem with that statement, but yu cannt play the psitin and expect t play at 100% efficiency. It is simply nt the makeup f the psitin. Yu must strive and push yurself fr maximum prductivity, and yu can expect it every play, but it may nt happen (there are things called flukes and bad-luck). Mst f the battle is desire and effrt at yur psitin. If yu d expect perfectin, it puts the psitin ut f perspective and puts yur fcus n things that yu have n cntrl f in the curse f yur respnsibilities. When less than perfect plays ccur, yu must acknwledge the situatin, learn frm them quickly and then flushit...mve n t the next snap. Again, the expectatin is t desire and put frth the effrt t get it dne. Make Plays There is a big difference between great athletes and great ftball players. They are nt mutually exclusive, but there are a lt f great athletes wh can't face the physical and mental demands that the greatest game in the wrld requires. As a gifted athlete, r a three-ted slth, if yu make plays n a cnsistent basis - yu will play. It desn't matter what yu lk like - it's hw prductive yu are. It is a given that yu must wrk t imprve yurself spiritually, mentally, and physically. Whether yu are a 4.5, r a the standard yu will be held t is the number f psitive plays yu prduce cnsistently. Just get it dne. Hang in there and keep swinging...gd things will happen. Exert Yur Will: Be relentless...yu must exert yur abilities n the ffensive team. They need t knw that they better prepare and bring everything they have when they try t explit yur respnsibilities. Ftball is a physical game - put fear aside and unlad every unce f yur ability n every snap. Intensity = High Emtin + Intellect. Let them knw that yu d nt knw any ther way t play than t thrttle up bring it every dwn. This peak-perfrmance effrt level will als elevate the level f play f yur teammates Everyday, Everyway.
2 2 Technique Will Override Talent: We will be fundamentally sund - that is my jb t impart n yu. What yu may lack in Gd-given talent can be made up in slid technique. Make plays. Yur ability t d s will nly be enhanced by great technique and effrt. It als plays int what is ging n with a player lined up acrss frm yu. Even if he is a mre gifted player frm a matchup standpint, technique and smarts will deal with him. It s all abut head & heart. It's the trtise and the hare analgy - the turtle will always get the jb dne in the 4 th quarter. Play at Full Speed Yu can always slw dwn yur defensive mentality. Yu cannt speed it up if it is a level f intensity yu are nt used t. Practice is where it starts...the game shuld be the easy part. Either yu play at full speed, r yu dn't - it's that simple. Play fast t be fast. Purpse and Accuntability Everything we d must have a purpse related t what we are trying t accmplish each week. We will nt meet t meet. Everything we d must transfer t the field f play. We nly have a few hurs a week f practice and time spent n the game. We must be efficient and fcus n what will make us better everyday. We becme what we think abut. Simply stated, we are accuntable and respnsible fr ur actins as s and hw we affect ur teammates. The same ges fr yur cach - ask questins t make sure yu truly understand the why s, and why-nt s f things yu are being taught. Yu must knw and understand the big picture - if yu dn't knw, yu must ask. EVEY QUESTION IS A GOOD ONE. WE AE ALL VALUED MEMBES OF THE UNIT. BE AOUNTABLE FO YOUSELF, YOU ESPONSIBILITIES, AND MOST IMPOTANTLY- TO YOU TEAM. lse the GAP everyday...
