2 Bill s Corner: Info for The North Texas Camaro Club We finalized the club entries for the Ft. Worth Rod and Custom show. I ed a link to "list" it has all the directions and show hours. We have the 8 NTC members cars signed up: Jay Redmon, Jeff Cassell, Ronnie Mc Enturff, Erik Eichinger, Rodney Moore, Mark Lohse, Gerald Ramich, and Jerry Jackson. Also NoMad Dog ( Dodson ) and Law Dog ( Simmons ) will show in NoMad Dog's regular spots at the show. The hardcore cold weather folks made the 1/1/09 kick off at the Dairy-ette in Dallas. Those with the coats on were: Bill Shaw, Terry Taylor, Marc Tuton, Gary Aston, Tom Potts, and Bill Roy. Any others? Here's what was covered at the December Dutch Treat Luncheon year end close out: NTC Dutch Treat Luncheon 12/13/08 Review of 2008 / 2009 Plans Recognition to: David Caver - Web Site Manager, Roger Jackson - Membership Management, Bob Senich - Treasurer and Brad Howell for Editor of the monthly NTC Newsletter. All of these fine folks will continue into events: Rail Head kick off meeting and Ft. Worth Rod and Custom Show Some NTC members were able to make some of the F body meetings The NTC Spring cruise w/prizes was co-ordinated by Jerry Jackson Advantage Autoworks Spring and Fall open house and car show Todd & Chris also made available show car stanchions to NTC Meet in the Middle trip to Centerville with Houston Camaro Club Much Thanks to Kim and George Johnson as hosts Several NTC Members did the Muscle Car Challenge drag races NTC folks made: The Lone Star Round up in Austin The Jefferson car show The Memory Road Show at the Nascar track The NTC summer picnic ( biggest ever ) hosted by Huff The 2008 Hot Rod Power tour, some broke also The Frank-a-palozaa or Huff Fest II in July The Hillsboro car show The Lone Star Loop with no problems The SEMA show this year The Drive - In co-ordinated by Jerry Jackson The first ever Las Vegas Barrett-Jackson auction The NTC fall cruise co-ordinated by Marc Tuton to Palestine The NTC Dyno Challenge the best attended ever co-ordinated by Cris Gross NTC made a contribution to "Toys for Tots" at Christian Classic Cruisers Show Good NTC turn out at the Year end wrap up at Papas B-B-Q 2 January 2009

3 Bill s Corner: Info for The North Texas Camaro Club 2009 Events? Kick Off, Ft. Worth Show, Spring Cruise, NTC Picnic - Advantage Autoworks, Fall Cruise, Dyno Challenge, Jefferson day trip, others? Let me know what you would like to do in Did you know there are 3 options for NTC . You can elect to 1) receive s 2) not receive s or 3) receive only one digest daily Some folks prefer the digest as it keeps the in box cleaner. Also I am told that there are certain systems that will allow you to direct specific s to a specific in box folder other than your main in box. Did you know that newsletters are available on the web site members section. The current month is at the top and the historic listings are below by month / year. The kick off meeting and Ft. Worth Rod and Custom Car Show is 2/28/09. The kick off meeting will be at the Rail Head B-B-Q resturant 1 block south of I-30 on Montgomery at 11:00. Hope to start the new year with lots of NTC folks. For those that want to use a forum, Texas F-Body has welcomed us to use theirs. It is You must register ( it's free ) and within a day you can post and reply to any generation of "F" body car forum. There are discussion, classified ads, and updates on the 5th gen Camaro coming our way. Check it out. Dues for 2009 will remain $20. We will begin collecting dues 1/1/09. They will be past due 3/15/09. 6 Featured Car Questionnaire How did you acquire the car? I purchased the car on E-bay. I didn t want to buy a car sight unseen so I waited for a local 69 to come available. I was very excited when I went to look at it because it was in great shape and unmolested. It had the front endura bumper and everything looked all original. The current owner had it 15 years and he did nothing to it except drive it for those years. It had one coat of paint over the original butternut yellow. All the SS features were original GM parts and all the SS components were there and original. I offered to pay cash for the car if he would stop the auction. He said he wouldn t so I was a little frustrated because the auction would end while I was out of town and unable to bid. I had a friend bid for me and I won the car for $2000 less then I had offered him. I trailered the car home hoping to do a little cleaning and drive and enjoy it for a while BUT my cleaning turned into pulling the fenders and the subframe so I unintentionally endeavored on a full 2-year restoration. How long have you owned the car? I have had this car since December 2006 Anything interesting happen during your acquisition or ownership of the car? Nothing very interesting has happened YET. I was praying to find a build sheet on top of the gas tank or in the seat spring but no luck. One of the best things so far is that this car has got me involved in the car club and I have met a lot of very nice and fun to be around people. I am usually the quiet type but I seem to talk a lot around you all. What would you do differently with the car? I am very pleased with what I have done with the car so far. I am in the process of saving for a TKO-500. I wish I would have gone with a roller cam when I was building the motor. There is still a lot to do but I am going to drive it and enjoy it for a while before I address all the little problems. Any company or service that deserves high praise for helping with your car? I purchased most of my parts from Patty at Firewheel. They are not always the cheapest but she is pleasant to work with and very knowledgeable. I also bought some of the harder to find parts from a company called Groundup out of New York. My very good friend, Richard Painter (Richard s Machine Shop in Euless) built my motor. I have been screwed by the big names in the past and now I deal exclusively with Richard. He is old school and he builds things right without cutting corners. I can t claim to have done all the paint and body myself. I need to give a lot of credit for the straight lines and shiny paint to David Gardner. I did most of the sanding and buffing but David did all the trigger work. I learned a lot from him and would definitely recommend him for top quality paint and body. 6 January 2009
