This year we had hosted the Asian championship, Asian Cup Eastern and Western divisions and BFA U15 championship successfully. There are 14 teams in total to participate the tournament, we appreciate all the members to join the tournament and enjoyed the joy of baseball. Also, I look forward to seeing more members to participate in every level of tournament. Here, I would personally thanks Baseball Federation of Japan, PERBASASI, Pakistan Federation Baseball and Chinese Taipei Baseball Association for great assist of tournament. Furthermore, DPR Korea baseball and Softball Association was asking the Coach Clinic in Pyongyang 2016, this was an exciting news and big move to BFA, we will do whatever it assists to develop the baseball in DPR Korea and all Asia. 3 4 Asian Baseball Cheers 5 Baseball among 5 sports eyed for Tokyo Olympics The Yomiuri Shimbun September 28, 2015 The Tokyo Organizing Committee of the Olympic and Paralympic Games decided during an executive board members meeting Monday to propose the addition of five s p o r t s t o t h e 2020 T o k y o Games, including baseball/ softball and karate. The committee s proposal is highly likely to be accepted by the International Olympic Committee, which will hold a general meeting next summer just ahead of the Rio de Janeiro Olympics. The move would bring baseball and softball, two popular sports in Japan, back to the Olympics for the first time in 12 years. The three other sports to be proposed are skateboard, sports climbing and surfing, in keeping with the IOC s desire to add sports that are attractive to young people. ABC isssur 05 02_ido.indd 4-5 Fujio Mitarai, honorary president of the Tokyo organizing committee who chairs the committee s panel discussing the selection of additional sports for the Tokyo Games, said those sports will make the Tokyo Games more appealing. It will be the best opportunity to present Japan s high interest in sports to the world, he said at a press conference on Monday evening. Mitarai said the panel discussed three basic criteria in the selection of the sports they must attract young people, help liven up the Tokyo Games and be chosen through a highly transparent and fair process. The press conference was also attended by Yoshiro Mori, president of the Tokyo organizing committee and former prime minister, and Toshiro Muto, director general of the committee. Mori expressed hope that the IOC will approve the proposal, saying, This is a worthy proposal that can win understanding from the IOC. Under the Olympic Agenda 2020 reforms, the IOC agreed to abolish the 28-sports limit on the Summer Games, and instead use an events-based system that would allow the addition of new competitions without increasing the current size of about 10,500 athletes and 310 medal events. Host cities are allowed to propose the inclusion of additional sports for their Games. The Tokyo Games will represent the first time these reforms are applied. In the first-round selections in June, eight sports baseball/softball, karate, bowling, roller sports, sports climbing, squash, surfing and wushu were chosen from among 26 sports. President Eiji Hatta (66) passed the chair for the term of 2 years to Norio Ichino (74), president of the Japan Amateur Baseball Association (JABA), and assumed the vice presidency by remaining as president of the Japan Student Baseball Association. Two women newly joined the Council; Taeko Utsugi, Vice President of Japan Softball Association and World Baseball/Softball Confederation (WBSC), and Hiroko Yamada, Women s Development Commission of International Baseball Federation (IBAF), division of WBSC. LIAO, Cheng-Ching a longterm Vice President of the CTBA and also a member of the Taiwanese legislative will lead the Chinese Taipei Baseball Association over a 4-year term ( ). President Liao replaces Chen, Tai- Cheng, who served two terms as president of the federation and was key in CTBA s strategy to help bring major international events to Taiwan, as well as helping to boost the Chinese Taipei National Team, which Chen leaves at its highest ranking ever at No. 4 in the world. President Liao expressed his gratitude to the assembly for the trust bestowed in him and vowed to honour and continue the legacy that his predecessors Chen and Tom Peng left in the last two decades. I am committed to the promotion and development of baseball in our country and will also remain active internationally, said President Liao. CTBA will only strengthen its trusted partner with the world governing body and WBSC President Riccardo Fraccari, as well as Tom Peng, president of the Baseball Federation of Asia. The Game 50 final between host Chinese Taipei and the U.S. in Tainan was the highest-ever attended U-12 Baseball World Cup game since the launch of the elite youth world championship in More than 150,000 online and mobile viewers worldwide followed the live webcast of the final. The U.S. repeats as World Champions in the 12-year-old age category, having won the 2013 U-12 Baseball World Cup in Taipei City. The 2015 WBSC U-12 Baseball World Cup "AllWorld" Team was announced following the end of the U-12 world championship that saw the U.S. defend its world title, defeating host Chinese Taipei, 7-2, Sunday night. Five of the 12 nations in Tainan had players selected to the top team.
