TONIGHT S STARTER: Last Wednesday, RHP Williams Perez needed just 85 pitches to complete 8.0 innings and became the third Braves pitcher (fourth time) since 2000 to go as long in a game in as few pitches Greg Maddux did it twice (June 4, 2004, 8.0 IP in 71 pitches; October 2, 2001, 8.0 IP in 82 pitches) and Tom Glavine once (May 1, 2002, 8.0 IP in 82 pitches). CLOSE ONES: Yesterday at Kansas City, Atlanta suffered a 4-2 defeat in 13 innings, dropping their record in games decided by one or two runs to Yesterday s 13-inning affair marked the Braves Major-League-leading eighth extra-inning game of the year (2-6).
