BATS BREAK OUT IN 20-RUN ROUT OF CARDINALS: The Florida Fire Frogs erupted for 10 runs in the first inning, helping coast to a 22-2 victory over the Palm Beach Cardinals on Tuesday night at Osceola County Stadium. The Atlanta Braves High-A affiliate cracked four homer runs in the series opener, including Alex Jackson s league-leading seventh homer of the season. Alay Lago (4) and Ronald Acuna (5) accumulated for almost half of Florida s RBI on the night (19). RICHY RICH: Ricardo Sanchez turned in his first quality start of the season with two unearned runs allowed over six frames. The native of Venezuela tied a season-high with five strikeouts and walked less than three batters in an outing for the first time this season (1). The offensive output raised the 20-year-old s run support from -6 runs to +9 through four starts in WHERE DID THAT COME FROM?: The 22-run outburst easily topped the previous season-high of 15 runs for the Florida Fire Frogs. The 10 runs in the first equalled the entire total of runs scored for Florida in the previous four games, and the 22 runs were three more than the offense put up all of last week (April 17-23). ANSWERING THE CALL: Jonathan Morales started the game at catcher, but finished as the second baseman for Florida on Tuesday night. The 22-year-old changed positions in the top of the eighth when Alay Lago was removed from the game after being hit by a pitch in the seventh, with Wigberto Nevarez coming in from the bench to receive the balls and strikes for the final two frames. Morales had never played second in his career, but does have some experience in the infield. The native of Puerto Rico accumulated 13 innings at the hot corner in 2016 with the Rome Braves, recording two putouts and six assists in eight chances. START ME UP: Ricardo Sanchez kept the line moving for the Fire Frogs starting pitching, as the lefty allowed two unearned runs in the series opener.
