His personal road in our program has been choppy at times because of injuries, but it has never deterred his personality, attitude and effort. His offensive game has components of strength and speed and he continues to grow into a productive outfielder as well Sophomore season cut short due to an appendectomy early in the year... 29 USA BASEBALL Vanderbilt & USA Baseball Over the last decade Vanderbilt has been extremely well represented on various USA Baseball Teams. At least one Commodore has donned the Stars and Stripes during the summer six of the past seven years and since 1997, 12 Vanderbilt players have played for Team USA. Tim Corbin (Years at Vanderbilt: 2003-present) USA National Team (2006- Head Coach, Assistant Coach) Corbin guided the National Team to its then-best record ever as the team went over the summer, culminating with a gold medal at the World University Championships in Havana, Cuba. In 2000, Southern Cal head coach Mike Gillespie served as head coach and chose Tim Corbin as an assistant for his staff. That group won a gold medal at the World Championships in the Netherlands.
