So, let s all get out and ride in I want to challenge every member to attend at least one ride every month. If you know of a ride we have not gone on yet or have not been on in a while, tell one of the board members or a Road Captain so we can add it to the Calendar for everyone to enjoy. We are fortunate to have a great group of members that love to ride and Road Captains that are always looking for fun and enjoyable rides. We ve had some great rides, with some really great people getting together to enjoy them. During the past couple of months, we ve gone to several new places and the turnouts have been great. Have you heard of some place that you d like to ride? Please let me know and we ll figure out how to get there. January s schedule already has one new place on the schedule, Puddle Jumpers in Tavares and there are more new places on the way. With the temperature swings we have been experiencing recently, make sure you check you double check your air pressures before you roll your pride and joy out of the garage. Cold weather will drop the tire and shock air pressure more than you might expect. For those of you that were not at the Christmas party, first, you missed a lot of fun, and second, you missed my worthless information that I shared. For 2017, we have had 92 rides at the time of me typing up my article. Still have 2 more rides on the calendar. On those 92 rides, we have had 1,189 members and 140 guests riding, either on their bike or in the car. Mike Golding led the most rides by 1, he had 34 leads and Tommy Duane had 33. Tommy was on the most rides this year with a total of 81, with David Baker in 2 nd with 76, yours truly finished in 3 rd with 71. We have given out $250 in birthday money, $ in 50/50 drawings, with $ donated back to Cudas. At the party we presented Sean from Cudas with a check for over $3000. That is awesome!! You may also remember the slip n slide, a long, water covered plastic sheet in the heat of summer. But, do you want that same slipperiness between your seat and your Harley? Sure your seat looks cute when you use Ramernall, Everslide or Astroslip type of products. It s especially important if you are concerned that somewhere, somebody may be face to face with, and scrutinizing your seat. Yes, it s bright and shiny and plump, but is it slippery? Can you slide on and off too easily? Do you end up in an intimate position on your gas tank with quick stops? Can you drop your significant other off the back of the bike and on to the middle of the road with just a quick twist of the wrist? (Yes, ladies, I dislike those T-shirts too.) There are some riding coaches and motor safety officers that frown on anything used to make your seat silky smooth and supple. Why are they looking at your seat anyway? (sexual harassment?) Donna & Peter Collins Peter and I were high school sweethearts who both grew up in East Hampton, New York. We went separate ways for college.

Pete s Dad grabbed him to work in his electrical contracting business when his partner retired and then eventually took over his Dad s great business.

We married in August of 1974 and were blessed with 3 great sons. Mark was severely brain damaged from birth and lived with us for 37 years, passing in 2014.

John is a Chef in a small restaurant in East Hampton. He is a die-hard NY Rangers fan and is engaged to Anna who he has been with for 9 years.

He insisted and showed me a purple and diamond ice bike that he wanted to buy. I did not like the color (as it s all about color) and I talked him into buying a green and black Road King.

4 Donna & Peter Collins Peter and I were high school sweethearts who both grew up in East Hampton, New York. We went separate ways for college. He went to SUNY Morrisville and graduated with a degree in Horticulture, while I went to Ohio Wesleyan University and graduated with a teaching degree in Physical Education and Health. Pete s Dad grabbed him to work in his electrical contracting business when his partner retired and then eventually took over his Dad s great business. Since there were no openings for PE teachers in our area on Long Island, I started working for the US Postal Service and was a clerk in a small Post Office in Wainscott, New York for 27 years. We married in August of 1974 and were blessed with 3 great sons. Mark was severely brain damaged from birth and lived with us for 37 years, passing in Will teaches Physical Education and is the Athletic Director in Montauk, NY. He and his wife Jill have two sons Cole who is 6 and Shea who is 9 months. John is a Chef in a small restaurant in East Hampton. He is a die-hard NY Rangers fan and is engaged to Anna who he has been with for 9 years. In the Spring of 2000, Peter came home and said he was going to get a motorcycle. I thought he was having a mid - life crisis and said, No way! He insisted and showed me a purple and diamond ice bike that he wanted to buy. I did not like the color (as it s all about color) and I talked him into buying a green and black Road King. The minute he got his permit and started riding the bike, I was hopping on the back. In 2003, I fell in love with an anniversary Dyna Low Rider. Peter patiently taught me how to do turns and ride slowly in a church parking lot. After taking the same safety course that he had taken, I took my test and we were off riding. Two of my friends decided to get bikes and join us as well as the husband of one of the women. The group on Long island has grown as more and more guys have joined us. We have traded and purchased many more other bikes and trikes. We both love to travel and have gone to the Caribbean, Canada, Italy (our favorite), Ireland, Wales, England, Northern Ireland, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Thailand and Singapore. Last summer we went out west and spent 17 days exploring our National Parks which are beautiful. Peter is a gourmet chef and loves to cook, spending many hours watching Food Network. He also loves to fish. I enjoy a good game of Canasta, knitting, golf and playing Pickle Ball. I was also and EMT and I am still a member of the East Hampton Volunteer Ambulance Corp., answering calls the 5 months while we are in East Hampton for the summer. Of course, we both love our HOG family and riding. 4

Treasurer - Glen Abbott I m excited to serve NSB HOG as treasurer this year, and looking forward to getting together with outgoing treasurer Sam Atkinson so he can show me the ropes.

As a new Road Captain, I hope to plan and lead some rides myself, and will try my best not get us all lost due to my terrible sense of direction.

Hidden Treasures, Flagler I d like to encourage all our chapter members to sign up for HOG s new mileage recognition program called Ride 365. In addition to lifetime mileage tracking, they ve added yearly mileage tracking and a yearly Chapter Challenge, which I think is pretty cool. Even though we re a small chapter, I bet we ride more miles than we think, and it would be great to get everyone registered and accumulating miles for the chapter. We could even get national HOG recognition because one of the prizes tracks average total miles per member so it doesn t matter if the chapter is large or small. This is from Frequently Asked Questions about the Mileage Program on hog.com: There are two ways to win, giving all chapter sizes an opportunity to win: - Total chapter mileage - Average total miles per member Victorios, Titusville NSB HOG PEN DETAIL If you cannot join in our HOG functions or you are not interested or can t ride, maybe HOG Pen detail is for you. Hog Pen is every Saturday morning at the NSB Dealership from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. You are the greeter for those entering the store and it is your opportunity to talk up our chapter. Newsletters, brochures, copies of our current event calendar are there for you to share. When you work HOG Pen detail, you earn reward points (equivalent to $15) to be spent in the store towards merchandise and/or service. Tommy Duane has the calendar for this detail and would be happy to have you pick a Saturday you can work. All miles ridden by a chapter member including the miles ridden outside of official chapter events count towards the Chapter Challenge. Each of the 6 Dealer Markets will have a total mileage winner and average miles per chapter member winner. Each of these (max. 12) chapters will receive a pizza party with a H.O.G. Regional Manager and a plaque detailing the accomplishment. Of the 12 Market winners, there will be 1 National Champion for total mileage and 1 National Champion for average miles per chapter member. Each member of the National Champion chapters will receive a patch signifying the accomplishment. At H.O.G. s discretion, we may add additional rewards for winning chapters. Remember, ALL the mileage you ride counts as chapter mileage, whether it s for chapter events or not! Take your bike(s) to the dealer to have them verify your mileage and get enrolled in the program. 7 Asst. Director Tommy Duane Well, December to me always means to start with a great party atmosphere. The turn- out was great, and it s always fun to see everyone and have a good meal. The weather was cool and delightful, and with everyone in good cheer, we were off to ride. We had 8 food runs, 7 by bike and 1 by cage. The Christmas lights to St. Augustine was outstanding, and a whole lot of fun. If you missed it this year, put it on your list for 2018 as a must. The Wreaths Across America Run was my first, but I hope not my last. The Roberto s Cuban ride was really, perfect, and so was the company. We still have Clarks to do to end 2017 with a bang. I would like to take this time to thank everyone, who helped me in my duties as Road Captain be such a pleasure. We had some great times. I look forward to Mike taking over, and ask everyone join in and assist him as you did me. I will still be doing plenty of rides, as this is my pleasure.
