After 10:00pm and on weekends, our phones are transferred to the San Bernardino County Sheriff s Department who dispatch SBCCD Officers to calls. This is in accordance with California Government Code (A) and Board Policy The civil penalty (fine) is $50.00 MISSION STATEMENT April Volume 3, Issue 2 FBI Shares Terrorist Indicators Every day people can take precautions to keep themselves and their loved ones safe according to the FBI. The first thing one should do is be aware of their surroundings. It s a fact that certain kinds of activities can indicate terrorist plans that are in the works, especially when they occur at or near high profile sites or places where large numbers of people gather--like government buildings, military facilities, utilities, bus or train stations, major public events. Any suspicious activity should immediately be reported to proper authorities. Surveillance can be a big red flag. The FBI website states video recording or monitoring activities, taking notes, using cameras, maps, binoculars and the like, near key facilities or events, should raise suspicion. Suspicious questioning is another sign of possible terroristic threats or plans. For example, spotting someone attempting to gain information in person, by phone, mail, , etc., regarding a key facility or people who work there is a big red flag. If a person is aware of attempts to penetrate or test physical security or procedures at a key facility or event, that knowledge should immediately be shared with authorities. If a resident becomes aware of anyone attempting to improperly acquire explosives, weapons, ammunition, dangerous chemicals, uniforms, badges, flight manuals, access cards or identification for a key facility or event or to legally obtain items under suspicious circumstances that could be used in a terrorist attack, they should immediately make a report to authorities. Anyone who observes someone who does not appear to belong in the workplace, neighborhood, business establishment or near a key facility or event, should promptly contact authorities. A big red flag is noticing what are called dry runs. Any behavior that indicates preparation for a terrorist act such as mapping out routes, playing out scenarios with other people, monitoring key facilities and events, timing traffic lights or traffic flow, or other suspicious activities should immediately be made known to authorities. If a resident notices an abandoned vehicle, stockpiling of suspicious materials or persons being deployed near a key facility or event, they should report the findings to proper authorities. The SBCCD Police Department, in concert with the Board of Trustees, is committed to providing a safe and secure learning and working environment for all students and employees. This will be accomplished through a cooperative and coordinated effort involving all departments and the SBCCD employees, law enforcement agencies and community.
