1 New Forest Accredited Community Safety Officer s( ACSO s) Weekly Bulletin Week Ending Friday 1th of May 21 Keep Calm and Know Your Rights An education campaign has started in Portsmouth to improve young people's knowledge of their rights when stopped and searched by the police. Hampshire Constabulary is responding to recent research, which found 41 per cent of children, teenagers and young people last stopped and/or searched in the city did not understand the reasons why. Detailed survey interviews asked young people for their views on how the police could address these issues effectively - and communicate their rights with clearer, more memorable methods. The research led Hampshire Constabulary to develop an education campaign named 'Keep Calm and Know Your Rights', which will be presented through a variety of ways suggested by young people Click here to download the 'Keep Calm and Know Your Rights' leaflet This leaflet is an introduction to how and when the police are able to stop and search someone. Click here to download the 'Keep Calm and Know Your Rights' wallet card This card spells out your rights with step-by-step advice on what to do if you are ever stopped and searched by the police. 1
2 Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service Plan 21 to 218 The Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service Plan is a five-year plan that shows how HFRS intend to make life safer through the service they deliver in our local communities. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ DRUG ALERT Two deaths among Hampshire heroin users Hampshire Drug and Alcohol Action Team has received information from Hampshire Constabulary and Solent NHS Trust Drug & Alcohol Recovery Service that, in the past week, two heroin users from the Fareham / Gosport and Portsmouth areas have died following the use of what is believed to be a batch of contaminated heroin. A further three people have been hospitalised following serious adverse reactions. All five incidents appear linked to a rogue batch of heroin supplied in the Portsmouth area. A sample has been seized for testing as it appears the deaths may have resulted from the presence of a toxic cutting agent. What is clear is that this presents a significant and immediate risk to heroin users in the Portsmouth and Hampshire area. All staff who deal with service users who may be vulnerable are asked to read the attached information. DAAT; Drug Alert; May 21 2
