1 Warwickshire Police Rugby Town North Safer Neighbourhood Team (SNT) May 2018 Beat Areas Newbold on Avon Benn - Brownsover North Brownsover South Rugby Town North Policing area: Rugby Town North Team PS Stuart BAKER PC Paula KETLEY PCSO Samantha EDMUNDS PCSO Amy LANGSTONE Crime Overview This section looks at the crimes of public interest that have occurred on the Rugby Town North Safer Neighbourhood Team policing area. Below is a brief summary of some of the incidents that have been reported to us over the last month: Anti Social Behaviour There has been 46 calls of anti-social behaviour in the Rugby Town North area between 1 st 30 th April These calls include calls regarding youths causing ASB by the retail parks and the Avon Mill pub and on-going neighbour disputes. Burglaries There have been 9 reports of residential burglaries in the Rugby Town North area. This includes a secure shed that was broken into, a room in a house of multipleoccupancy, and building equipment from a property that is being renovated. There have also been 3 commercial burglaries reported. Theft There were 39 reports of theft in the Rugby Town North area. This includes shoplifting from Elliott s Field, Junction One and Technology Retail Parks. There have also been reports of theft of pedal cycles.
2 Vehicle Crime There has been 17 reports of vehicle crime in the Rugby Town North area. These include a theft of motorbike and scooter, theft of VRM plates and vehicles being entered and sat navs, sunglasses and loose change have been stolen. Priorities The new priorities for Rugby Town North Safer Neighbourhood Team are as follows: To carry out a minimum of 15 high visibility patrols in and around the alley-ways of Craven Road and Murray Road to detect and deter anti-social behaviour To carry out a minimum of 15 high visibility patrols in the Technology Drive area to detect and deter anti-social behaviour Although these are currently the main SNT priorities, we will continue to monitor any issues that have been raised previously. Appeals News and Updates/Information and Advice School Parking As a team we proactively patrol the schools on our area at opening and closing times to ensure that children, parents and drivers are kept safe. We issue tickets where appropriate for obstructions and advise drivers. If you are a driver please be aware of the following: You cannot park or wait on zig-zag keep clear areas for any length of time. You cannot park across peoples drives, blocking them in or causing an obstruction You cannot park on pavements which can force pedestrians to walk in the road You cannot park on or within a junction which restricts pedestrians and drivers views We will continue to monitor these issues and deal with them appropriately.
3 Van Security The theft of lorries, vans, the fuel or their contents can be extremely costly to businesses. Follow these simple tips to minimise the risk: Remove the keys and lock the doors whenever the vehicle is left unattended, even for just a minute. Drive with the doors locked in order to deter thieves who may try to enter the vehicle when it is stationary. When parking overnight try to use approved locations if possible. Avoid dark, isolated places. If you can, park in a way that prevents access to the rear doors. Try to travel in convoy with other trusted drivers when delivering high value or vulnerable loads. Beware if anyone asks you to stop. Thieves may try to distract you by claiming to have a puncture, have been in an accident or by asking for help. Don t talk to others about what you are doing, where you ve going or what you are carrying. Good News Stories Beaver Visit On Monday 16 th April one of the Rugby Beaver Groups visited Rugby Police station. PCSO s Sam Edmunds and Amie Hextall and PC Ollie Barrett showed the group around the Rugby custody block and police vehicle. They got to have a look at the custody process and the cells. The visit was thoroughly enjoyed by the Beavers and learnt about various roles within the police.
4 Cannabis Caution issued PCSO s Sam Edmunds and Amie Hextall seized a quantity of cannabis and nitrous oxide canisters from a vehicle that was parked up in the Winfield Rec car park. The owner of the vehicle was brought in for interview at a later date and was issued with a cannabis caution. Farewell to PC Crouch After 2 1/2 years on Rugby Town North PC Andy Crouch has moved onto Rugby Rural Central and South beats. He has completed 1450miles walking the town north beat and 1700miles on the push bike with an average of less than 1 hour per week in a car.
