SECTOR 313 Lt. E. Marshall NEWSLETTER MARCH Thank you for all the support on our recent Command Staff Community walk in the Randolph neighborhood. It was very refreshing to receive the positive comments and support from the community. I had the pleasure of sitting on the panel for the Let s Talk About It group with Artist Anderson as the CEO/facilitator/speaker. The group s focus is on bridging the gap between the Richmond Police Department and the community. It was a welcomed and great opportunity to discuss current media events and a chance for citizens to hear from the police officer s point of view. I look forward to the next meeting. Going forward I would like to reach out to all the citizens of Sector 313. Thank you for all the assistance and support that you give to the Department. Please use all the social media sources that you have at your disposal to advise your neighbors to secure their vehicles, secure their valuables, and not leave items of value or change in plain view within the passenger compartment of their vehicles. Twelve vehicles were broken into during the reporting period of Feb. 3 - March 2. Eight of them had items left in plain view while three were left unlocked.
Don t become the problem, be the solution. Let s work together to deter crime in the city of Richmond. Simply take away the opportunity and that solves the problem. Do not leave items of value within the passenger compartment of your vehicle. An empty purse will attract the attention of a criminal mind do not leave purses on the front seat or tucked under the seat. Sector 313: Focus for March 3-30, 2015 See map below: The map below shows crime in the area from Feb. 3 - March 2, Theft from motor vehicle is the main focus for the next 28 days.
Violent Crime: 0% Even 2014 vs Three (3) vs. Three (3) Property Crime: 18 % Increase 2014 vs Thirty-three (33) vs. Thirty-nine (39) Major Crime 17% Increase 2014 vs Thirty-six (36) vs. Forty-two (42) Robbery Individual 0% Even 2014 vs Two (2) vs. Two (2) Please help us to help you: If you see something, say something. Don t be the victim, be the solution. Take some time to assist the police in solving the crime. Take back your neighborhood. If we can see it, so too can the criminals We will be sending photographs of items left in plain view to the registered vehicle owners. The Sector has had some success with the theft of packages. We urge you to continue asking Federal Express and UPS to require signatures when they deliver a package to your home. The second option is to have packages delivered to your place of business if no one is home to sign for it. Leaving a valuable package on the doorstep is like throwing money in the air at a crowded event. Do not expect to get it back it is a gift at that point.
Please encourage your neighbors to report their homes to the Richmond Police Department as vacation homes when they are away for extended periods of time. Help us to help you. Go to the city website: Here are a few tips on hardening the environment around your homes: Lock your doors and windows; Activate your alarm systems; Use security cameras; Install metal door frames; Use door clubs; Trim hedges and shrubs; Build security fences (that do not obscure vision); Do not leave valuables visible from a window; Use beware of dog signs; Communicate with your neighbors, and; Form a Neighborhood Watch. The following individuals were arrested during the reporting period: All individuals are presumed innocent until proven otherwise in a court of law.
Fred W. Coles Kieran Nyangaresi Marquan Thomas Arrested for larceny from a motor vehicle Diego A. Zuniga Should you have any questions please contact me at: (804) or erlan.marshall@richmondgov.com. Thank you!
