& 8th September 2012 ABOUT THE RACE Adventure in the Bay is on again, after great success in 2011. The event is in a Rogaine (navigation) style on water which starts and finishes at Jacobs Well.

3 & 8th September 2012 ABOUT THE RACE Adventure in the Bay is on again, after great success in The event is in a Rogaine (navigation) style on water which starts and finishes at Jacobs Well. In teams of 3 or 4, you will be given a map at registration on the morning of the event 1 hour prior to the start time. Your team will then have until the start time to plan their strategy to visit as many markers as possible and gain maximum points and return to the finish line before the finish time of 4pm. The markers will be placed throughout the bay and will be worth different points as shown on the map. Along with the map showing all markers you will also be given a marker description and clue card. This will give the finer details of each marker so that you are able to locate them. (They are not all close to the water and not always on land) At each marker there will be a clicker that you mark your score card provided with to prove you have visited this marker. Craft Category: To determine the category you are in it is based on the most dominate craft in the team. If this is even then it is based off the slowest craft. For example if you have 3 Sea kayaks and 1 Sit on Top you would be in Sea Kayak category. If you have 2 of each you will be in Sit on Top category. There must be a minimum of 2 craft in each team. 6 Apply now for the Young Athlete Assistance Program Grant NOW OPEN Program Objective Helping our kids to excel in sport This Program assists young athletes in Queensland who have competed at a State or State School Championship, National or National School Championship or International Championship. Eligibility Applicants eligible for support are those who: within the last 6 months have competed or officiated at a: Queensland State Championship Queensland State School Championship Australian National Championship Australian National School Championship International Championship are residents of Queensland for more than 12 months preceding the championship; are under the age of 18 at the start of the championship; reside more than 200km radial distance from the championship location for the one-way trip do not hold a current Queensland Academy of Sport Scholarship. Scope of financial assistance Financial assistance of $200 is available to assist with the cost of travel and accommodation for the eligible championship. A list of the eligible championships, as nominated by Queensland School Sport Unit or the relevant State or National Sporting Organisation, is published under the "Eligibility" section above. Athletes are only eligible to receive financial assistance once every two years from the start date of an eligible championship. Lodging an application does not guarantee funding. Applications will not be considered before the start of a championship. As the funding is provided retrospectively, applicants are required to use their own resources to travel to championships. 6

The Rogue Adventuregaine is a race where male, female or mixed teams of two compete to collect as many checkpoints as possible over a set time period. The Rogue involves multiple stages of the traditional adventure racing disciplines of trekking, mountain biking and kayaking where teams must navigate using a map and compass through the course on a route of their own choice. Each stage is effectively its own small rogaine where teams may attempt to collect as many or as few checkpoints as they wish, making this event achievable by all levels of athlete. Strategy, precise navigation and perseverance will play just as a significant role as raw fitness. Go to for more info! 7

9 Tingalpa Trot 11 March 2012 Registration 8.00am (Club Room) Briefing 9.00am (Club Room verandah both 10km & 5km races) Race Start 9.30am (Railway Parade Thorneside) The race will follow Tingalpa Creek towards the mouth of the creek. Turning the island on the left 300m into the race, paddlers will paddle the creek to Capalaba and finish under the road bridge. In the upper reaches the creek becomes quite narrow and the challenge is to keep away from the overhanging mangroves. The creek opens up for 500m sprint to the finish line. This is a Point A to Point B paddle Presentation Within 15 minutes of last craft crossing the line. While waiting enjoy our BBQ and cold drinks while you chat about the race. Distances 10km Thorneside to Capalaba 5km Chadwell Street to Capalaba (Separate start point and time for 6km. 11 MAROOCHY MARATHON 2012 $400 cash prizes random draw boat numbers The course starts and finishes in Eudlo Creek. Paddlers exit the creek, turn left ( upstream ) around the red marker ( 1K) and proceed up the river a distance of 2.5K to the turning buoyat Muller Park. Paddlers return by the same route keeping to the right of on-coming paddlers and back to the start. Each loop is 7 K. Paddlers turning for additional loops will perform a left-hand turn around the the marker buoy. Paddlers finishing must paddle between the pink finish buoy and the bank.
