2 WELCOME: Our club is now 7 years old and we invite you to join us on our wonderful water playground for the 5 th annual Pasha Dasha GP. In Clubs, 320 competitors, 44 teams had maximum fun with minimal hassles. Just pretend it s Island Time once you arrive! Bring family, friends etc and make a weekend of it. See the world s biggest coal shipping port in action. Enjoy unequaled spectator access along the entire length of the course. If that s not enough, the foreshore is a great place to kick back and enjoy the parks & cycle ways, restored buildings, restaurants, etc, with kilometers of beaches just a stone s throw away. COURSES: Novelty races - similar to previous regattas format TBA on the beach. Short Course approx one lap of the Changes Race course. Changes Races - Support boats will not be required as paddlers will change on/ just off Horseshoe Beach. As with last 2 years, Women, Mixed & Men, 6 laps, 5 changes, staggered start men first. First lap - 6.3km, remainder - 5.4km, 33.3km total. Alternate (inside) Course all laps 4.5km, 27km total IRON RACE as a trial, this year we are incorporating an Iron division. Same course, start etc as Changes Race. 5 PASHA DASHA GRAND PRIX COMPETITOR INFORMATION Conditions of eligibility 1. Only a competitor who is a financial member of a club affiliated with AOCRA Ltd. and is a current registered competitor with AOCRA Ltd. is eligible to nominate and compete in any event. 2. AOCRA Ltd., the Race Director, or the Race Committee reserves the right to request proof of identity or age [i.e. ID card with photograph] of a competitor at any time. 3. The Race Committee reserves the right to be the arbiter in any dispute regarding eligibility and registration of competitors. The Race Director s decision is final. 4. The REGATTA RULES [as amended] of the Australian Outrigger Canoe Racing Association Ltd shall apply. For full details of these rules, please refer to 5. All OC6 will be required to carry 6 PFD s, 2 bailers, a spare paddle, and prescribed tow rope (25m x 12mm silver rope - ATTACHED. Covers required. AGE D IV I S ION S Junior Competitors Junior division competitors shall not have reached 20 years of age and at least 10 years of age during the race year of competition. Senior Competitors The following age divisions shall apply to both OC6 and solo canoe events: (a) (b) (c) (d) (e) Under 21 competitors both male and female are those who during the Race Year of competition are between 19 years and 21 years of age. Open competitors both male and female shall be of any adult age. Junior competitors to be eligible to compete in Open Division shall turn 14 in the Race Year of competition. Their inclusion will be at a qualified coach s discretion. They must have written parental/guardian permission. The AOCRA categories: Masters female & male over 40; Senior Master female & male over 50; Golden Master male & female must turn 60; Platinum men & female turn 70 years. A competitor s age for a Racing Year is determined by their age as at 31 st December of the Racing Year. In all senior events at governed and sanctioned regattas, teams shall be of the same gender applicable for that event unless otherwise approved by the Zone Management Committee or AOCRA. Mixed crews must have at least 3 women paddlers in the canoe for changes races. Program -9/1/

6 REGISTRATION Entry fees have been kept to a minimum to encourage paddlers to enter as many categories as possible...the day is all about paddling/sharing the water. Cost: Novelty Races - free Junior: $10 PP Novice and Short Course: $20 PP (6 per crew) Changes races: $25 PP = $225 a 9 s team, or $250 a 10 s Team Iron Race: $30PP = $180/team. Changes Race - Men s -9 paddlers (max)/ team. Women s & Mixed -10 paddlers (max)/ team. Iron 6 paddlers You are reminded that teams/paddlers should be registered beforehand. It is so much better for the organisers to have an idea of crews participating when organising rescue craft, trophies, catering etc. Late Entries permitted on the day, as per AOCRA rules. If a canoe fails to meet the required AOCRA Safety guidelines, the canoe will be ineligible to take part in the event. Program -9/1/

Prime areas will be secured for trailer parking. Toilets / Showers: LIMITED male and female toilets may be provided on site, otherwise toilets and showers at the Nobby s Beach Surf Club 200m away. Fresh water taps, (spring loaded button type) available on site for drinking water and to rinse down bodies and boats. Food: Free watermelon for competitors at sign off. A food stall shall be provided with hot and cold food. Nobbys Surf club has an excellent kiosk a short walk across the park. Accommodation: Contact us for an information package. Inset left, After going through Hamilton turn left then right into Hunter St. Below, Pass the Rail station along Scott St to Newcastle East then taking Nobbys Rd to the Nobbys round-about, turn left, then right to the race site.
